What do you mean, uncut version? An extended cut?

Did they cut stuff out in China, or are we all missing some content here?

Nope, even greatest haters predicted it will make money beforehand

Nope, pretty much all the haters were going on about how it would bomb and some are changing their tune now that they were proven wrong.

Saying that there weren't haters that said it wouldn't make bank just isn't true.

In that case my CM haters are smarter then yours.

Jokes aside I think it's pretty obvious people who said that simply didn't know what they were talking about, which obviously is not rule or even common tendency for people who dislike CM and/or things around it.

Sounds like excuses, since the haters were going on about how it would flop.

No, just like, the actual reason why CM pulled in $400M in one weekend when Alita still hasn't quite reached that number in over a month. It's a more anticipated title from a tried and tested fan-favourite property and part of series people are already invested in, while Alita is an untested and obscure standalone weeaboo adaptation. I know it must be second nature to be defensive about CM criticism at this point, but I have no bone in this "fight". Only bigots even see it as a "fight".

The critics I watched are Chris Stuckmann and Jeremy Jahns btw, if you're curious. I agree with the former on most things and with the latter on like 65.7% of things, but I know what their tastes are, so for me they're a good measuring stick.

I do not know why people thought that cm would be a failure.

It's the same company who made a movie starring by D-list characters, and was successful.

Back on Alita, I just realized that the soundtrack was composed by Junkie XL… which surprises me. That didn't really sound much like him. =[ Though maybe my mind is still stuck on Fury Road.

I was surprised to discover the age of the actress. Rosa Salazar definitely does not look like a 33 year old woman.

Nah, I can totes see her as being older than me. She doesn't look 33 in Alita, hell no.

I think they used much of the CGI to de-age her a bit.

What's hilarious to me, is after seeing Alita I love how deadpan she is in interviews.

This is great. Meanwhile I am reading the manga again, and I still can't see how they would make a sequel.

But even if they don't, yay for a successful blockbuster that isn't part of an existing film franchise. Because these days that hardly ever happens.

Berserk Zapan ends up making Alita take a deal with the devil with Nova and become a TUNED fighting Barjack?

Sure that would make for a good story. Can they do that while keeping the pg-13, lighthearted feel? I am more sceptical about that.

That being said, if a sequel is made, I will want to watch it.

Making Nova's lab PG-13 is a challenge indeed.

Honestly, I don't care about ratings. If it's R rated, big whoop I say. As long as they dont overdo it and have Alita say "Fuck" every 10 seconds.

I think most of us would like it better if it was rated for adults. There are economical reasons that make big productions dumb things down in order to be pg 13.

Well, remember how in the manga there's an escalation in Gally's nicknames (Battle Angel, then Angel of Death, then Angel Exterminator)? They could reflect that by upping the rating. Or something.

Alita: Battle Angel Last Order
Rated XXX for excessive Sechs

They could always get around Nova being up top by establishing his copies early.

Huh, on Box Office Mojo the numbers have gone down, somehow…?
