NJI - Into the Lion's Den

Roland created a sphere of floating hardlight using his Nohman powers to light the way into the depths of the sewer passage. As the passage lit up, it would be quite clear this was a passage with multiple exits, and probably functioned something like a path into and out of the filtration plant and other locations. Surely the responsible parties in the Aquavect Organization had some hand in this, and likely through their contacts Zugzwang as well.

However as they went on, Ryan felt his foot land somewhere that sank down into the floor, and he mouthed the words, "Aww shit..."

All of a sudden the entire place started to emit a blaring alarm across the hallways even as the team was so visibly close to some sort of exit. Across the place a number of high tech laser gun turrets emerged from the heights of the walls, and immediately took aim at the team.

One of them fired a blast of red hot energy at Magpie's back, and others took aim at the rest of the heroes.

Obsidian City, Magpie, Trickster, Makquer'el, Shelly

Magpie immediately hopped back to the corner that the team had just turned, grabbing Trickster by the arm and also dragging them back to the cover offered by the concrete sewer walls just as several lasers grazed by. "Goddammit, Ryan," she sighed, uncharacteristically annoyed. "Now they know we're here!"

Makquer'el blocked several shots with his harpoon and let Shelly raise a hardened wall of water using his magic to block the lasers being fired at the team. Shelly then attempted to funnel the water down the turrets' gun barrels in order to plug them up and break them.

LASERS!

"Watch this!" Brute Force shouted as she dashed forward. Of course, dashing into fire means you get hit and struck she was. Burns lacerated her front, shocks coursed through her body, one time when she was a kid her grand uncle pushed her down a steep hill and made her run back up the top.

She bounced forward, kicked into the stone wall and *created* a foothold as she pushed herself. One laser turret was grabbed and she *yanked*. Her arm bulged and something was going to fucking rip.

NJI - The Trap

"Jeez! Sorry!" Ryan belted out as he blasted one turret after another with some atomic blasts from his hands, watching out for any more traps.

Kris shrank down and evaded shots from the turrets and then resized just in the middle of jetting up to punch one, mangling the turret, "This place is probably wired with traps! Be careful everyone!"

Ryan saw Roland moving on his feet as he went about shooting down the turrets as well and saw him step on another shifty tile - and Ryan immediately ran and tackled Roland off of it just in time to see a huge red dome of energy form where Roland had once been standing.

Ryan then threw an orb of explosive force at the last of the turrets and destroyed it, breathing a sigh of relief once the trap seemed to have exhausted itself.

Roland commented, "It seems our foes likely have a system set up. In order to get back in or leave, the Blitzkriegs probably turn off the traps, and then turn them back on as soon as nobody's using the passage. Sounds like some high tech stuff."

Nariko and Kimiko - Sewers

The sisters reunited, Kimiko wrapping her tail around Nariko's comfortingly, for a moment.

Then Kimiko pulled her tail away, taking the sword with it. "Cool blade." She remarked, swishing it through the air with her tail a couple of times.

"Of course you go right for the sword." Nariko rolled her eyes. "You could at least pretend to worry about me."

Kimiko stuck out her tongue. "I knew you could handle it."

One of the heroes shrunk himself down and disabled the bomb from the inside, while another found a secret passageway. The twins exchanged a glance.

So it looks like our family wasn't the only ones to set up a secret base down here. Kimiko thought.

Yeah. Nariko replied. Guess the sewers are the obvious place to hide something.

"We can take point here." Nariko said aloud.

"Infiltration is kind of our thing." Kimiko nodded.

Then Ryan stepped on a hidden switch, setting off an alarm and activating a bunch of turrets.

"Or you could set off the security system, I guess that works too." Kimiko said, dryly, as she and her sister jumped into action.

The twins lead the turret shots away from the others, dodging blasts and occasionally bouncing off of each other. They threw the sword back and forth as they went, ricocheting it off turrets and catching it again, in a display of extreme skill.

When the last turret fell, the sisters came to a stop.

"So like we were saying," Kimiko began.

"Let us take point. We can sneak past the traps without triggering them," Nariko continued.

"And switch off the system when we get in." Kimiko finished. "Be back in a flash."

So saying, the sisters jumped onto the ceiling and began sprinting down the passageway upside-down, casually ignoring gravity. They moved lightly, so as not to set off any switches - assuming the Blitzkriegs were even paranoid enough to put any on the ceiling.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

NJI - The Mission

The twins would be able to detect that there were indeed traps located on the ceilings, as if the man behind the Blitzkriegs had fought enough heroes to assume that there would be some effort to use the ceilings instead. Thankfully though they moved lightly enough and quickly enough to avoid setting off the traps.

As they proceeded down the long hallway, they would be able to see what looked like the end of the path, with a conspicuous looking section of the wall in the shape of a doorway that was of a different hue than the rest of the wall around it.

There was also a section near there that seemed to be some sort of mechanism.

Possibly where the controls for the hallway traps were located...?

Kimiko and Nariko - Sewers

"Ah, that must be the control panel for this place." Kimiko said, spying the mechanism near the obvious secret door.

"And the entrance." Nariko added. "I'll open the door."

"I've got the control panel." Kimiko said.

"Are you sure?" Nariko asked, a second too late.

Kimiko had already leaped at the panel and thrust the sisters' newly acquired sword into the mechanism. "Yeah, see? That probably disabled the traps."

"...dammit, Kimi." Nari muttered.

NJI - Onwards

Hans blocked one final shot from one of the laser turrets aimed at Magpie with his shields...though it seemed with his lack of understanding of his powers, he failed to account for how the laser worked. He tumbled and the beam caught in the air previously cut his sleeve though it didn't hurt his body.

Ryan looked back toward the young man and asked, "You two okay back there? Sorry about my clumsy feet...looks like the twins got the traps deactivated. Our way's probably gonna be easy to open ahead."

Roland seemed to look somewhat curiously at Hans' arm, though the young man stuffed his arm in his pocket and hurriedly said, "We...probably need to keep moving then, and uh, concentrate on the battles ahead..." He tugged his cap down a bit, and checked to make sure if his heavy clothes were damaged anywhere else.

As the heroes got the door opened up, they would be able to see that the water filtration plant seemed to be turned into also something of a strange testing facility. A wide variety of machines planted across the place, dripping and pumping something into certain water. Along with something else into the rest of the water.

There were a variety of elevated platforms over huge containers full of strange, bubbling liquid that was being pumped into the water.

Once all were inside, they would be greeted with the sound of Dr. Neuron's voice from a mechanical communication system on the wall, "Ah, willkommen, I knew you were coming the moment my defensive arrays were activated. I see you brought the hunter's prize of Magpie with you, and that weak-spirited boy. On the note, do not anticipate lasting loyalty from Hans Schultz. He has a way of disappointing you."

Hans glowered and tried to muster some response.

...And then the sight of numerous tall green and black robots landing down around the entry point, each one having a similar armored design - an SS-styled helmet, a gas mask looking design on the face, and wielding what looked like rotating machine guns emerging from their arms. Each of them had a pair of glowing red eyes.

Obsidian City, Magpie, Trickster, Makquer'el, Shelly

Magpie glowered as she was mentioned as it was mentioned that she was the "hunter's prize," though she was more immediately concerned about Hans. Perhaps the laser was only meant to cut through inorganic matter, which she happened to fall under. Perhaps it was something more sinister as Dr. Neuron mentioned...something that could turn Hans against them in the future, but there was no time for further thought. As the soldiers closed in, she and Trickster leapt into battle, fighting back to back with guns and a quarterstaff respectively.

"I do not like the look of that water," Makquer'el remarked. "It looks like that is what caused the endemic infestation of Drowned Souls around here. I fear Shelly may not be able to cleanse it all."

He, too, hefted his harpoon and made ready for battle. He couldn't very well break the vats—while he might emerge unharmed due to his godly nature, the rest of his mortal allies might not fare so well. Mak thus charged into the fray with caution in mind.
