Just announced within the hour: Princess Principal: Crown Handler distribution rights have been acquired by Sentai. First part of the six-part series is scheduled to launch on select streaming outlets in Spring 2021. HiDive, VRV., and probably Crunchyroll at least. Maybe Amazon and Netflix eventually (as they have had the series).

Spring 2021 means it'll be on some service (almost certainly HiDive and VRV) in the next 6 weeks.

I desperately need a reason to use my Hi Dive account, so this is neat.

Crown Handler 1. Back and as good as ever. Also as dense. The overall plot was easy enough to follow, though I did get lost on some of the details. Not really a big deal though. The important part was the exploration of Ange's character, which was quite interesting and well done. Also a possible third faction to mix things up. As sad as it is that new movies will come so slowly (I assume), at least they're putting the extra time to good use.

Really enjoyed it a lot. I was glued to the screen from start to finish.

Lies is definitely going to be a theme for the rest of the films. Although it's not like that wasn't already the case.

Also chibi Ange and Charlotte in the meadow during the credits was very romantic.

I'm interested by the fact they had the Princess secret come under threat in the first film.

It seems inevitable it'll be an issue again, with either the rest of Team Principal or the Crown. But having it come up right at the beginning makes me wonder if they'll avoid it again until a reveal, or if it'll come under pressure multiple times.

Was also nice to see Ange's lesson from the end of the anime has stuck.

I wonder if each film will spotlight a different character, because this one definitely had Ange as the central one. I could definitely see them doing one focus movie each, with the final either being everyone or Ange and Charlotte.

Crown Handler 2 is out.

I guess I was wrong about each film focusing on one member of Team Princess.

Ange with the photographic memory or skill. If its the latter that is very impressive.

My favorite Charlotte expression. It's an expression that accurately conveys that she's boxed the recipient into an etiquette corner where they have no choice but to agree to her polite request.

The fact the Commonwealth is concerned about the bombs denotating, plus the Commonwealth spymasters worrying about appearances makes me think their current position is shaky in terms of alliances.

The new prince being another faction is also pretty interesting. Similar goals to Charlotte really, but he does goes further with his methods. Although its not like Team Princess hasn't killed plenty of people themselves. He was must more deliberate about it though.

That song that played when they were chasing the ship in the car near the end was also amazing. I hope it gets an upload eventually.

I also watched the OVA. I wonder how much that play will reflect the eventual reveal to Beatrice?

[up]There are short OV As connected to the films, I assume released with the Blu-Ray.

Nothing groundbreaking really. Just short slice of life-y stuff connected to the events of each film.

Crown Handler 3 is out? Why did nobody tell me? I'm getting the impression that Charlotte would've worked with Richard if he wasn't threatening Mary's life. Considering Richard seems to dislike racism and colonialism it feels like a way to force him to be a villain. But all that's overshadowed by the botch to end all botches. Lesson learned, don't rush your crown princess kidnap operation. Leads to all your work being undone.

I have some questions and doubts, I don't know if the first image is a lens flare effect, in any case what exactly are they? https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captura_de_pantalla_2024_01_26_020337.png And the second related to the last image, are those spots abuse of the camera or the same Lens flare effect? So that it can be understood in this scene there are no spots from the beginning until a light reflects the screen and they appear, there is nothing within the action that spills those spots and when the lights disappear or are less bright they disappear even when seeing light. https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captura_de_pantalla_2024_02_05_194013.png
