I stopped minding the different versions of characters when I started realizing that where some fans saw clones of characters, what they were actually doing was using different versions of said characters to represent different eras of the franchise.

So, like instead of mashing everything Goku does into a single character, you have Base Goku, who isn't just Super Saiyan Goku powered down but specifically a representation of the Saiyan Saga, or Blue Goku who is specifically a representation of the first few arcs of Super, UI Goku who is a representation of the last arc of Super, etc.

[up][up][up][up] He also has the King Piccolo Killer as a normal LVL 3 before being ascended. IIRC, those are the main two things he has straight from Kid Goku without going through GT in any way.

[up] Ah, that does make sense. Arcsys definitely knows how to make a varied roster, despite the doubling of characters.

[up][up] I could see Spike doing what they did with Raging Blast and have customizable movesets, that way we won't have to deal with Goku (Early), Goku (Mid) and Goku (End) again. THAT SAID, there will probably still be a decent amount of Gokus in the next Tenkaichi, especially if they bring back OG and GT.

  • Kid Goku
    • Oozaru
  • Goku
    • Super Saiyan
    • Super Saiyan 2
    • Super Saiyan 3
    • Super Saiyan God
    • Super Saiyan Blue
    • Ultra Instinct Omen
    • Ultra Instinct
  • GT Goku
    • Super Saiyan
    • Super Saiyan 3
    • Super Oozaru
    • Super Saiyan 4
  • Goku Black
    • Super Saiyan Rose
  • Daima Goku (Probably DLC)

Maybe they could even up the ante and add Xeno Goku, but even that's kinda pushing it.

If I were doing the "represents a period of the character's style, moveset and attacks, I'd basically do the same spread they already did in Fighter Z.

I can understand why they didn't bother with a whole moveset for the Buu Saga, because Goku doesn't really do a lot of unique combat stuff in that story. The most prominent thing he does there is just to become Super Saiyan 3 Goku, so presumably they just threw becoming Super Saiyan 3 Goku onto his Super Saiyan moveset and called it a day.

The only thing I would change is separate Kid Goku and GT Goku, add more add Majunior stuff to Base Goku (IE, do something like giving im Meteor Combination as a LVL 3, and turn the Spirit Bomb - which is already basically a nuke - into a LVL 5 or something), and maybe composite some Moro and Granolah stuff into UI - though that may be tricky given that Fighter Z's UI is already chock full of stuff that already makes sense and works, so it might be a challenge to do that and not make it feel cluttered.

Nope, that's the Super 17 killer, not the King Piccolo killer. You can tell because he turns around and fires a Kamehameha backward after punching through.

And its a straight SS 4 Dragon Fist if he's down a teammate.

the Power Pole is definitely Path to Power tho, he's just missing the Swirly Kamehameha that Infinite World gave him.

EDIT: They could also do what they did with the old Guilty Gear games and bring back EX Characters.

It's really nice to see how much the rollback beta has reinvigorated people's passions for this game. It's crazy how much the lack of good netcode was killing interest in a game people otherwise loved.

I made a concept with Kid Goku back when the game was still new.

IMO they should add the real Kid Goku as DLC sometime down the line for DBFZ 2.

I tried doing a solo Zarbon moveset, but it ended up relying too heavily on filler and wasn't satisfying.

I like your idea of having Dodoria assist, but I went further and did something completely unique. Basically, Dodoria fights on the ground, while Zarbon fights in the air.

     Dodoria + Zarbon

Intro: 1st Form Freeza in his pod flanked by Zarbon and Dodoria hover down and land in front of the opponent. Zarbon and Dodoria walk forward, saying they'll take care of this problem for Lord Freeza, and Dodoria walks to the front.

Dodoria does the grounded normals. Zarbon switches in to do the aerial normals and Super Dash.

4S (Reflect): Zarbon appears in front of Dodoria and does a hook kick. Cannot be repeated like other Reflects, but Dodoria can move around while Zarbon is Reflecting.

5L: Dodoria does a claw stab forward.

5LL: Dodoria does an elbow strike forward.

5LLL: Dodoria creates afterimages as he charges forward and punches the opponent in the face.

2L: Dodoria does a backhand punch.

5M: Dodoria does an inward claw swipe.

2M: Dodoria does a thrusting side kick. Low.

6M: Zarbon appears in the air and punches downward with a blast of energy around his fist. High.

5H: Dodoria Headbutt. Dodoria does a charging headbutt forward that slams the opponent into the wall. Projectile invincible.

2H: Critical Upper. Dodoria does an uppercut. Air invincible.

5S: Dodoria Beam. Dodoria fires a mouth blast forward.

2S: Gorgeous Shot. Dodoria vanishes. Zarbon appears in the air and fires a small beam at a low angle downward.

j.5L: Zarbon does a straight punch forward. In Monster form, it's a swinging claw swipe forward.

j.5M: Zarbon does three pointed-toe kicks forward.

j.2M: Zarbon does an upward knee strike.

j.5H: Zarbon punches downward with a blast of energy around his fist.

j.2H: Purple Circle. Zarbon does a graceful backflip kick that launches the opponent up.

j.5S: Zarbon points his palm forward and fires a small beam forward.

j.2S: Gorgeous Shot. Zarbon fires a small beam at a low angle downward.

236L/M/H: Ruthless Blow. Either Dodoria or Zarbon appears behind the opponent to attack them. Cross-up.

  • L: Dodoria does a claw stab to impale them. Does 800 damage.
  • M: Zarbon does a swinging side kick to break their neck. Does 1,000 damage.
  • H: Monster Zarbon does a swinging side kick to break their neck. Does 1,500 damage. After, Zarbon stays in Monster form.

214L/M/H: Either Dodoria or Zarbon rushes forward and grabs the opponent's head. Command grab.

  • L: Dodoria twists their head to break their neck. Switches sides. Does 1,200 damage.
  • M: Zarbon headbutts them and throws them up. Does 1,400 damage.
  • H: Monster Zarbon headbutts them repeatedly and throws them up. Does 2,100 damage. After, Zarbon stays in Monster form.

236S (Air OK): Dodoria Launcher. Dodoria holds his palms out and fires a beam forward/down in the air with a big explosion.

214S (Air OK): Elegant Blaster. Zarbon appears in front of the opponent. He points his palm at their face, braces his arm with his other hand, and fires a beam downward that causes a big explosion.

22S: Zarbon lands behind Dodoria and transforms into his Monster form. Increases Zarbon's reach and damage by 10% aside from 236H, 214H, and j.236L+M. Ends when Dodoria + Zarbon switches out.

236L+M Level 1: Dodoria Big Blaster. Dodoria fires a giant beam forward with a huge explosion. Does 2,000 damage raw, 750 scaled.

  • Level 2: Dodoria shoots a barrage of blasts forward, each with an explosion. Does 3,000 damage raw, 1,300 scaled.

j.236L+M Level 1: Monster Crash. Monster Zarbon grabs the opponent with a bear-hug and flies down backward, suplex-throwing them to the ground with a large explosion. Air command grab. Does 2,400 damage raw, 850 scaled. After, Zarbon stays in Monster form.

236H+S (Air OK) Level 1: Death Beam. Freeza, from his pod behind Zarbon and Dodoria, fires a tiny, fast, and powerful finger beam forward past them that explodes on impact with the opponent. Does 2,600 damage raw, 900 scaled.

214L+M or 214H+S (Air OK) Level 3: Supernova. Zarbon and Dodoria fly backward in the air to meet Freeza. They bow to Freeza as he creates a gigantic ball of fire with one finger and tosses it down. Does 3,900 damage raw, 1,700 scaled.

One idea I also had for Zarbon's intro is that Dodoria and First form Frieza in his hover chair appear near the end as they already arrived to the battlefield, but Zarbon declares he will fight alone.

Basically, Freeza leaves it up to his best men to deal with the lightweights.

It would be a great reference to literally the greatest arc in the entire franchise.

Concept for a new Dramatic Finish:

Android 18 defeats Krillin

  • Krillin stumbles back. Android 18 walks forward menacingly. She says that Krillin is cute and gives him a little smooch on the cheek.

A while ago I remember I did an overview of all the characters who didn't have a Dramatic Finish and what those finishes could have been, and I think that was one of the ideas for 18 (alongside a Dramatic Victory against Gohan).

Glad we agree that 19 should be part of his moveset. Though my moveset for Dr. Gero went further and made 19 the point fighter, since 19 does a lot of hand-to-hand fighting against Goku and Vegeta and Gero barely does any.

     19 and 20

5L: 19 bows to do a headbutt.

5LL: 19 does a downward hook punch forward.

5LLL: 19 grabs the opponent's wrists with both hands, holding them in place to drain their energy before he throws them up. Command grab. Steals meter and increases 19's damage.

2L: 19 does a squatting swinging side kick forward. Low.

5M: 19 dashes forward and does a straight punch forward that has an angled-down follow-through.

2M: 19 spins and does a squatting hook kick. Low.

6M: 19 jumps and does a double-ax-hand smash down. High.

5H: 19 does a jumping side kick forward. 2H: 19 does an upward thrusting stomp kick. Air invincible.

6H: 19 does an open-hand palm-strike forward. Steals meter and increases 19's damage.

5S: Eye Beam. 19 shoots pink eyebeams forward.

2S: Eye Beam. 19 shoots pink eyebeams downward, which create a large explosion if they hit the ground.

j.5L: 19 does a back-hand chop.

j.5M: 19 does a knee-strike upward with pointed toes down.

j.5H: 19 does a double-ax-hand smash down, launching the opponent downward.

j.2H: 19 does a vertical-hand hook punch upward, launching the opponent upward.

j.6H: 19 does an open-hand palm-strike forward. Steals meter and increases 19's damage.

j.5S: Eye Beam. 19 shoots pink eyebeams forward.

j.2S: Eye Beam. 19 shoots pink eyebeams downward, which create a large explosion if they hit the ground.

236L/M/H (Air OK): Spikey Headbutt. 19 flies forward, body straight, and does a headbutt.

  • L: He quickly flies 60% of the screen forward.
  • M: He more slowly flies 80% of the screen forward.
  • H: He quickly flies 100% of the screen forward.

236S: 19 points his open palm upward to absorb projectiles. Builds meter and increases 19's damage proportional to the damage of the projectile.

j.236S: 19 falls downward quickly to land on the opponent, sitting on them. He reaches down to grab the opponent's neck, draining energy from him. Steals meter and increases 19's damage.

214L/M/H/S (Air OK): Dr. Gero assist moves.

  • L: 20 reaches forward to grab the opponent's neck, then squeezes to crush their throat. Command grab. Steals meter and increases 20's damage.
  • M: 20 reaches forward to grab the opponent's face, then impales them through the torso with an open-hand stab. He then removes his hand from their chest and then throws them down. Command grab. Steals meter and increases 20's damage.
  • j.M: Gero grabs the opponent from behind, holding them around the waist with his legs and grabbing their arm and face with his hands, draining their energy. Air command grab. Steals meter and increases 20's damage.
  • H: 20 stands on the stage, and if the opponent uses an assist or tag, he appears in front of them and shoots pink eyebeams forward at them. Input 214H to trigger Gero's eyebeams independently.
  • S: 20 runs in front of 19 and holds both hands upward to absorb projectiles. Builds meter and increases 20's damage proportional to the damage of the projectile.

236L+M Level 1: Photon Laser. Dr. Gero comes in behind 19 and shoots a barrage of pink eyebeams forward while turning his head, creating a wave of huge explosions along the ground in front of him. 19 bows to Gero to duck under the eyebeams.

236H+S Level 1: 19 points his hands upward and creates a pink energy ball between his hands before detonating it, creating a huge explosion. 19 then creates a pink energy ball around his fist and flies upward with an energy punch. Stronger the more energy 19 has absorbed. Uses up all of 19's absorbed energy.

214L+M or 214H+S Level 3: Photon Wave. Dr. Gero comes in and swings his hand over his head, releasing a huge pink wave of energy from the gem on his hand that creates a gigantic trail of explosions. Stronger the more energy 20 has absorbed. Uses up all of 20's absorbed energy.
