Dragon Ball FighterZ

On the one hand, this would make a decent LVL 3 visually.

On the other hand, like half of the female characters in the game have LVL 3's where they call on other characters to help and continuing the trend doesn't feel great.

TBH, I'm pinning my hopes on upcoming media doing something with her, to give her some manner of content, though I know those hopes are very slim.

If they take any move wholesale from the other games, this one - that's completely original to Xenoverse - would make a good DP (not to be confused with the other move called Maiden Burst on the wiki/games, which seems to have been a simple "character powers up and stuff gets thrown back" scene someone in game gev tried to play up as an official "move.")

Do you count Kefla as a solo character? Because still have the only solo female being the OC in the game lol.

Honestly our best shot is Launch, because i feel Ribrianne would probably have an assist lol.

There's two: Kefla and 21.

Then there's two assist ones: Videl and 18.

They could definitely do Ribrianne as a solo character if they want to: her movelist (in addition to the movelists of characters that could be reasonably attributed to her as well) can pretty well populate a moveset. The question is would they make her a solo character, though.

Oh right isn't there a Xeno GT Pan for Heroes? Does she have anything cool?

From what little I could find online, it looks like they gave her stereotypically "girly" movements and forgot that she could do martial arts.

On that note it bugs me that all of Pan's attacks are named "Maiden X" in the games (the move from the trailer seems to be called "Maiden Strike"). Very much a "I'm a girl, and I can fight! Look and my Girl Attack!" vibe.

I'd prefer Ribrianne as a team character. The main issue with 18 and Videl is that the assist they summon in is a guy, throwing off the gender balance. Ribrianne's assists would be Kakunsa and Rosie, her female teammates. Her Supers require assists in the same way that Base Goku's Spirit Bomb is an assist, since she powers up from other people sending her their love.

Even with Ribrainne though, it could still be interpreted as it takes three women to do what any of the male characters can do solo.

The problem isn't just that it's a guy coming in to help. It's also that half the female cast are depicted as requiring help, whilst none of the guys are.

Not even Nappa or Ginyu?

I think team characters are cooler than solo characters. Ginyu and Nappa have some of the most unique designs in the base roster, and I've wanted them to add more team characters in the game ever since they showed off Ginyu.

The team characters currently in the roster are: Goku Black (barely), Tien (barely), Freeza (barely), Adult Gohan (barely), Ginyu, Nappa, 18, and Videl. If I had my way, Cell would be added to that list, able to create Cell Juniors in the same way Nappa plants Saibamen. Also, Goku Black and Tien would have a lot more assist moves with Zamasu and Chiaotzu.

I'm all for more team characters over solo characters, regardless of gender. Though I acknowledge the problem with having half of the female characters being team characters, I think it matters more that the gender of their assists are male than it does that they're getting help at all. Videl added one female character and one male character to the roster, Ribrianne would be adding three female characters to the roster.

Nah, c-mon, that gets rid of a cool team character for a boring solo character, that's a straight downgrade!

Proposed compromise: TOP 18 as her own solo character, with current 18 changed to be Future 18 and Future 17, since she's heavily based on them already.

It's more of a trend thing than an "everyone" thing. Nappa, Ginyu and the Gohans have either assists elements or moves where another comes and helps them fight in a cutscene, but they're not only few but two of them are relatively throwaway characters to boot.

But since there's so few female characters in the series, the fact that half of them are brought in without fighting alone (Videl, especially, actively having moves about Gohan swooping in the save the day) becomes a lot more substantial a characteristic.

I don't really have any issue with 18 as a character in a vacuum, but because it's such a repeated concept she instead becomes part of a trend.

What about my compromise? Making TOP 18 her own character and turning current 18 into Future 18 with Future 17?

Sounds cool to me, they feel like a huge ommited part of Z given how significant they are to Trunks story.

Plus why just rehash the current 18. You could make it so you can swap between both 18 and 17 as the playable one and they have different supers and a shared Level 3.

Feels a bit ambicious but it could be done.

Ironically, if they made a TOP 18 character, one of the most likely things I would see them doing for her is giving her this team-up move with Krillin as a LVL 3.

18 doesn't really do an awful lot alone in the TOP (if anything, she does more teaming up then than originally, since the assist mechanic in the game currently is based more on 17's standing by to maybe assist during her otherwise 1v1 against Vegeta (with her Super being based on History of Trunks), and especially given that her victory over Ribrianne makes more sense as a Dramatic Finish than as part of regular moves.

As for what her solo Level 3 could be based on, I dunno. Something similar to either of these two moves.

TBH, if the game had gone into production a little bit later than it did, I would've expected her duo attack with Krillin from the TOP to be the Krillin-unique version of her Accel Dance rather than what we got. The two attacks even begin the exact same way.

When FighterZ first came out, the TOP was just airing and there was more and more new content hitting the fanbase by the week. There's a sense that they missed the iron before it was hot (unable to incorporate much of this new stuff into the base roster) and had to scramble to include things as fast as possible in the DLC (leading to them kind of rushing through the conception of TOP 17, until they later handled it better with Kefla and Jiren).

Here's a start to the concept of splitting 18 into two characters:

• Split Android 18 into two characters: a solo Android 18 in her pink tracksuit from the Tournament of Power, and Future 18 with Future 17 as an assist.

Future 18

• Change all of her voicelines to be evil.
• j.236S: Swap places with 17. 18 becomes the assist. No longer Destructo Disk.
• 214L+M or 214H+S (Air OK) Level 3: Accel Dance. No longer teams up with Krillin if he's on the same team.

TOP 18

• Give her all of 18's current voicelines.
• 236S (Air OK): Destructo Disk.
• 214L/M/H (Air OK): Placeholder. No longer Support Attack.
• 214S (Air OK): Placeholder. No longer Support Attack.
• 22S (Air OK): Placeholder. No longer Barrier.
• 214L+M or 214H+S Level 3: A solo Level 3 attack. If she's on a team with Krillin, it changes into a pink ball they throw back and forth until 18 hits the opponent with it and it creates a large explosion. If she's on a team with 17, it changes into them blasting the opponent with endless yellow ki blasts until the energy coalesces into sparkles around them and creates a large explosion.

They could probably give Future 18 more moves that she used in the History of Trunks tv special, since a lot of her current moves come from the manga.

I would be more than ok with 18 getting an alt & her vanilla being changed into Future Twin Terrors.

Why is Launch's chance as good as Chi-Chi? I would argue that it's even lower than Zangya's & even Bulma's.

Launch might not be a powerhouse, but she does have enough firearms to fill up a unique moveset. Also, games like Legends and Strongest Warrior have shown that Launch can definitely be playable. Plus, it'd be hilarious gunning down and blowing up some of the franchise's strongest villains.

I think they could actually give TOP 18 her punch against Ribrianne as a Level 1 Super, similar to how 17 had his punch on Agnilaza as a Level 1 Super.

There's still the question of what TOP 18's base Level 3 Super could be. I love the idea of modifying it with either Krillin or 17 to become the Shosa finisher and Biarra finisher, respectively, but her default Level 3 should be something similar to those two moves, and there's nothing she does solo that really fits. The thing they both have in common is using ki blasts and attacking the opponent from both sides with a relentless, unending barrage.

Maybe have 18's default Level 3 be from a video game, since 17's Level 3 is from Xenoverse? She has Energy Mine as her Ultimate in Supersonic Warriors 2 (at 3:43):

Or, they could go with Photon Rain, her Ultimate in Extreme Butoden (at 12:05):

Energy Mine covers the "hit from both sides" angle while Photon Rain covers the "relentless, unending barrage" side of things, and both are a ki attack. Maybe they could combine the two, somehow?

She does. Its a vital part of her corner loops
