Like, there's a conversation the PC can have with Chronoa where she admits that what Trunks did wasn't so bad and ultimately for the best.

And the implication I got was that Trunks knows she's full of shit, but also that the problems she needs the Time Patrol for are legit, and also that she's lonely and really bad at. Well, bad at everything, really. Talking to people, making friends, asking for help. Cooking.

[up] No wonder Zamasu went full genocide on mortals. Kais suck at basic things.

Or in Shin's case, everything.

I wonder why Chronoa hangs out with Old Kai all the time when she would probably get along with Shin much better, given how both are such hot messes.

I mean, Old Kai likes gag comics, and I think she would do too.

As much as Shin sucks, he's also. Serious. Dour. Not her type of friend. Dampen her mood, kill her buzz.

Not good at jokes. Or dancing.

...Also. I get the sense with some of her comments about Bardock that she might or might not be a bit of a low-key perv too.

Also, as much as Chronoa would like to deny it, she's a lot closer in age to Old Kai than she is to Shin. According to Old Kai, Chronoa is even older than he is, while Shin is still like a teenager as far as Kaioshin go.

[up][up]Bulma in general kinda is.

"Vulgar woman" is what Vegeta mostly calls her.

And she freaked Pilaf's gang the fuck out when she started suggesting sexual tortures to them.

I'm gonna say it again: Shin doesn't suck. His situation does.

He got a job foisted on him that he wasn't trained for properly, because all the others got killed by the evil Bubblegum Monster...because the guy who was supposed to be doing the job got sealed in a sword by an asshole...and then that same asshole just went to sleep and left him there instead of doing his job, hence why the Kais got slaughtered and he was the only one left.

And that's the thing: the reason a guy who can't do the job was left in charge is because of Beerus being a prick.

I should also note that if Goku and Vegeta (and Gohan, but less so especially after Buu actually woke up) decided to fuck around, and that that there pointless death match (that gave Babidi everything he wanted) was more important than just blitzing through the entire place as a team. For all Vegeta's complaints about how long Gohan was taking to win, if they'd fought together as a team they could have beaten all the enemies there, stopped Buu and then had more than enough time for a final fight with Goku, but they (Vegeta especially) couldn't do that because MUH PRIDE!!!

Shin was the one saying this, and pointing out how stupid it was to waste time like they were doing instead of just beating him as a group and getting it done. Hell, the fact that he was so wrong about how powerful they were makes it worse. He thought they'd need to struggle, but he was massively wrong, and they could prevented the entire debacle with Buu if they hadn't decided to satisfy Fight Boners (and Gohan hadn't been so out of shape, but that's a different issue).

So Shin doesn't suck, and I'm tired of everyone acting like everything is his fault.

As for the thing with not stopping freeza...that's a combination of Toriyama inventing him and not really thinking through his role in regards to what happened previously, and stopping people like Freeza not really being his job (it's actually Beerus' isn't it? Or at least it's his job to make sure planets or people that shouldn't be destroyed aren't).

That's my stance. Shin...I won't say he did nothing wrong, but I will say that not everything is his fault.

Shin still kinda sucks what with focusing more on Majin Buu than on making new worlds and seeding them with life like his job actually was.

...

The whole seeding new worlds with life thing was something Toriyama came up with years later right?

When he decided that Shin was not in fact the top god correct?

So he basically came up with this new explanation for Shin, but didn't bother to indicate if the latter was doing it, leading to a massive contradiction.

Also, we know that it took 5 people to do the Job that Old Kai was supposed to be doing after being sealed in the Z sword. Maybe because they weren't actually the proper Supreme Kais, it was harder for them to do it individually. Maybe Shin couldn't do it properly due to the deaths of the others.

I'm not gonna hold a Retcon against him, otherwise I'd ask why Kami sat on his ass when Daimou was rampaging. Sure, we got a reason for why after (their lives are linked, and God can't kill himself), but when push came to shove, he was totally willing to just end it himself, so basically it's Toriyama covering for himself after he realized that someone as strong as Kami should have done something.

It's the same with Shin, only he doesn't bother to cover for him because he doesn't care about Shin, who he put in a shit situation both in universe and out.

It's hilarious to think that Beerus barely avoided death thanks to Fat Buu existing.

But whatever, he was the asshole that ate his pudding and Beerus will forever be salty about that. Prick.

Poor Shin, he is forever life linked to a lazy prick.

Exactly.

If Beerus hadn't been such a prick, Old Kai would be doing the job (and admittedly probably better than Shin), and hell, Buu might have been stopped if he wasn't sleeping.

Then again, I want to know why Whis didn't free Old Kai, or at least wake Beerus when Buu started doing what he did, especially since the deaths of the Kais could have easily ended Beerus.

But Whis (who I rather like) is a massive enabler anyway.

Part of me wonders if Buu absorbing all the Supreme Kais could have effectively made him the new Supreme Kai. For Beerus and also Grand Priest census purposes.

Polished up my Jiren moveset a bit. Posting the whole thing here because why not? I'd like to hear feedback on this (like if some of his moves should be other moves, or something like that).

Jiren's ki charge looks different depending on how many bars of ki he has. From 0-2 bars, Jiren charges ki in a meditating position and there's no aura, just wind whipping around his body. From 2-3 bars, Jiren is still meditating and has an aura. From 3-4 bars, Jiren changes to a standing position and has an aura. From 4-5 bars, Jiren stands and has two layered auras. From 5-6 bars, Jiren stands and has three auras. From 6-7 bars, Jiren stands and has four layered auras around his body.

When Jiren uses Super Dash, his aura looks like the one he has when charging, complete with layers.

Jiren can charge his normal punches for a second to make his fist glow and have it shoot off a thin beam. The beam functions like any other beam, it's just small.

Jiren's ki attack is him swinging his arm in the air, drawing a line of ki that looks like liquid, and a bunch of tiny ki blasts shoot out of that. The line of ki hangs in the air for a bit, allowing Jiren to move while it's firing.

Jiren has a special move where he creates a barrier in front of him that blocks ki attacks and does damage on contact. He can't move while this barrier is up, but you can put it down at will, and you can turn it into the EX version while it's up. The EX version has Jiren expand it into a huge damaging explosion to launch enemies back.

Another special move is his eyes glinting. Jiren's eyes flash orange, and the air in front of him starts warping from a invisibly fast barrage of punches. If the opponent is hit by this move, they will be locked in place until it ends, when they will be launched away. You can use this move in the air, and Jiren will aim it straight down. The EX version causes the air distortions to extend beyond Jiren's arm length to full screen.

Jiren has an automatic free Install Super when he goes below 5,000 HP. He rages (with a short flashback to his childhood in his eyes), breaks his limits, and destroys his shirt. The sky in the background changes to red, and fire burns on the ground around Jiren. Jiren's attacks do 10% more damage while in this form. His facial expression also goes from neutral to angry, he yells a lot more, and his voice lines are more aggressive. The sky changes back to normal and the fires extinguish if Jiren is defeated.

Jiren has Power Impact as a Level 2. Jiren charges up and shoots a ki blast forward. The opponent is carried high in the air to the corner of the screen and the blast explodes, covering the whole screen in the light of the explosion. If Power Impact is the finishing blow, there's an extra cinematic of Jiren turning around, crossing his arms, and saying "It's over." before the blast explodes. Does 2,730 damage, 3,003 with Install.

His ultimate move is a Level 4. It's his big final blast in episode 129. Jiren powers up, his aura flaring up to a gigantic inferno. He holds up his hand and creates a gigantic fireball that looks like the sun. Jiren compresses the ball into a tiny ball, clenching it in his fist. Jiren screams “It's over!” and he thrusts his palm forward, shooting it down. The fireball is tiny, but it leaves a path of fire and destruction behind it and creates a gigantic explosion. Does 5,000 damage, 5,500 with Install.

I think his low-life install should be a super that costs meter. Not sure about what cost would balance it, but it could be a move that he can either set up ahead of time, causing it to automatically happen when his health drops below the threshold, or actively use if his health is already there. If the transformation causes a burst, using it preemptively could cause an interesting trap for an opponent who gets too aggressive with him after finishing a combo.

I have a message from another time...

UI Goku? Toppo? Ribrianne?

[up][up]I could see that. Maybe the set-up would be a flashback to his backstory, to set up him having another one to transform after he takes a set amount of damage after that. That would also free me up to have a bit more fun with his Install's effects. I had only it be a 10% increase in damage to balance out the fact that it's free, but I could make it more drastic if it costs meter.

I do want Jiren's Install to be used, though, I don't want a Golden Freeza situation. If Jiren's Install is automatic than it's a baked-in part of the character and the strategy playing him, not a side thing that you can completely ignore. It also fits Jiren to have it be an automatic thing tied to his health since his breakdown that triggered it in canon was tied to getting his ass kicked so hard that he was having to question who he is.

Freeza can just go Golden whenever he wants, but Jiren breaking his limits is part of his story and character arc, and it's linked to him getting beat up to his breaking point.

[up][up]Either UI Goku or Toppo, though probably Goku, like with Vegetto and Zamasu. Toppo can be bundled with Dyspo. Here's my basic idea for how UI Goku should function, tell me if anything seems off:

Ultra Instinct Goku

Starts as Ultra Instinct “Omen”, which is fast but doesn't hit very hard. Each attack UIO Goku does hits a tiny bit harder, and he transforms into UI Goku when he's done enough damage. Goku fully transforms once he's done 20,000 damage. Every point of damage UIO Goku does increases the damage of all of his attacks by 0.001%, rounded. Maximum “Omen” Goku hits 20% harder than minimum “Omen”. UI Goku is even faster than UIO Goku and hits even harder, 25% harder than minimum “Omen”.

Goku transforming into Ultra Instinct is shown by his aura expanding into a galaxy. Goku absorbs the galaxy into his body, and glows white. The glow breaks off his body in chunks, revealing UI Goku.

I think Jiren should have that sun-like blast he used on Vegeta in 122 as a super. That was one of his coolest moves.

Yeah, this is the good stuff.

[up][up]They've taken some normals from the manga but other than that Fighterz seems to be focusing on the anime. It's most notable with Fused Zamasu, who has an entirely different moveset in the manga that is passed over for his anime moveset in the game.

Anyway, I don't think manga Jiren has a lot to offer in terms of unique moves.

Yeah, as much as people like to say that anime Jiren is boring, he at least has moves and a defined theme to his attacks, what with all the fire and red, not to mention the eye glinting thing. Manga Jiren doesn't have anything so far. Like, literally nothing.

[up]The way to translate that move into Fighterz would probably be as a command grab. A really gnarly command grab, too.

Actually, on second thought, there is one thing Fighterz could take from his appearance in the manga: his flying animation. Jiren flies like Superman in the manga, with both hands straight out in fists, and that's really unique and would be great for a Super Dash animation.
