That's a seriously crummy trailer. You could tell me it's for any number of things, and I'd probably believe you on a lot of them.
Okay.
A Samuel Beckett inspired Care Bears revival.
Waiting For Gladheart.
Okay that’s pretty good.
Uhhh a retelling of Moby Dick as a cyberpunk drama set in China.

I'm getting Halle Berry Catwoman vibes from this.
Nonsense. The Venom film is gonna have its stick too far up its ass to have anything that can be narmy glorious as Catwoman's basketball scene.
I wonder what Sony will do if this doesn't match their expectations...
Mileena Madness-whispers Reboot Spider man again-
New theme music also a boxWhy would they do that when Spider-Man: Homecoming was already So Cool, It's Awesome?
I like to keep my audience riveted. If they don't we run the risk of Peter developing as a character. Best to have him constantly reset to high school and be bitten by that spider over and over.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Pfft. You say that like he was developing as a character before they started rebooting.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Gotta have Gobby in some form.
Mileena Madness-shoots 136 dead with a revolver-
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Eh.
I don't hate Justice League and Ben Affleck managed to be the best part of Batman v Superman. Also, Gothamand Punisher didn't completely suck, so comic book adaptions that stray away from the source material clearly have been on the rise these past few years.
I take it back. I'm willing to give this a chance at least until the full trailer is out. Not revealing the actual symbiote this early is a smart move.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Sorry I was late. Work was murder.
Mileena MadnessLatest rumor: the Venom movie scarcely features Venom at all, instead mostly having Brock form tendrils and shields with the symbiote and such, only having him go full Venom for the finale.
It's kind of depressing how believable that is.
Assuming that rumor is true (and honestly it sounds like something Sony would do), then oh my god, that's probably even worse than Venom's last-minute appearance in Spider-Man 3...
Ohh, I can just feel this movie tanking hard and bringing the Sony-Marvel-verse to a screeching halt.
Well, Eddie Brock is an interesting character.
Tom Hardy is a great actor.
But I'm trying to figure out how you do a Venom movie without Spiderman.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.YMMV on Brock, but my guess for the general plot of the movie is that it will adapt (in spirit if not in letter) Lethal Protector.

I actually was a big fan of Venom's "Heroic Days" as Eddie Brock was always a character who was delusional about his evil but trying to be a good person. Its why I liked Anti-Venom. So, it's not a terrible thing.
Maybe they could also handle the backstory via flashback.
Then again, I write supervillain books so I'm probably biased.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I'm pretty sure we're ALL wondering how anyone can do a Venom movie without Spider-Man. And quite frankly, I still firmly believe that you can't.
I dunno, they somehow did Deadpool without Weapon X.
Sort of.
Hopefully, they do more than Sam Rami's "I hate this and am doing it under duress" treatment of Venom where IT LITERALLY JUST FALLS OUT OF THE SKY.

If they do end up having Tom Holland guest in this, hopefully Marvel has some advice for them.
