"All out...? There was one— maybe two times I got overwhelmed and did something without thinking, but I don't know if that's the limit I could reach. Should I...?"

Mila seems afraid of the thought, but at the same time something about it is appealing to her. What if her limit is lower than she was expecting? What if she really couldn't hurt people? At the same time, though, it could be that there's far more than she's anticipating, and in going for this test she could seriously hurt the people around. She hopes that the more experienced fighter will be able to read her expression and figure out her dilemma, as she's certainly capable of debating it endlessly herself.

I was standing in front of a tree at the time, so I rolled out of the way at the last second, intending for Niles to run into it. ”Wooooo! Double karma, baby!” I then used Hydro Pump again.

Well, if you put enough into it, of course you'd be able to defend yourself easier and learn almost all the moves in your moveset.

I do it again, sending another shockwave in the dummy's direction.

Now...what else are you trying to learn?

Lane gets up and looks over at Grigori, hearing his suggestion.

Probably a good idea, yeah. I was flying low there approaching but even then there was still, I still had to drop down some at the end there.

Before the next attempt, Lane looks around the others training, noticing particularly the demonstration of the move Bulldoze. (Being able to reshape the ground like that? Both of them must be pretty strong to be able to pull that off. Or maybe it's some of this elemental/magic/whatever it is, that's helping with that, but still...)

Lane backs up again and launches himself in a straight line at the dummy, first running then gliding just above the ground. He angles back and strikes with both wings again as he impacts; the timing is better this time so he actually hits with both wings as he bounces off. He then flaps his wings quickly to try and land upright, carrying him several feet back as he does so.

Holstown (Training)

That was much better, sugar! (Bea says to Lane, clapping.) Yer really catchin' on!

Understood. ( I tell Marlon. Wow...Bulldoze unlocks pretty much unlocks all of the other moves I can learn? I've really got to get good at using it...)

( I steal another look at the Haunter teaching Lane...maybe I heard a voice like her's in a dream once or something. I've got to get my mind off that.)

Um, Nephenee mentioned something called Earth Power, but she also said that Soten could teach me that easier. ( I tell Marlon.)

Blissparce (Town Center)

So...this ain't business as usual? (Rich asks.)

No...I think Tiff's right. Something must be up. Let's wait to hear what the mayor has to say. (Mia says.)

(Amy notices the activity involving the Hitmonlee police officer getting the attention of the chief and squints to look closer at what's going on. She obviously can't tell what they're saying from here, however.)

Blissparce, Back of the Crowd

"Captain!" Taylor B shuffles on over towards the captain. "C-captain, we've had a-another murder, over at the edge of town. There's a Tropius woman over there we believe to be a witness."

Blissparce, Edge of Town

Jotting down what the lady said, Taylor A then looks back over the body...wait, that's odd. Why is his tail cut off, into pieces, too? Taking a good long look (despite the growing displeasure in her stomach), instead of the stab wounds generally found on the prior murders, Mr. Cosby's body is covered with deep, haphazard lacerations...she jots this down as well.

"Anything else you wanna saaaaaay?"

Blissparce, Altar

The flames eventually die down, though Higgins notes they went away earlier than they usually do...

He turns back to face the crowd, now buzzing with murmurs and whispers. His eyes scan the crowd, and in a sense, he ends up sharing in their confusion. With a pained expression, he swivels back to face Amy and whispers, "I can't do this."

Taylor C ,the C standing for Captain, looks shocked.

"A-another one? Meu Deus..."

"...Keep gathering info, I'll inform the mayor of this."

And with that, they attempt to head to the stage discreetly.

Blissparce (Town Center)

Do you want me to tell them, sir? (Amy asks.)

(She then sees the police chief now approaching them on stage.) Oh...

...I don't like the looks of this... (I say, dreading why a police officer like them would be walking up to speak to the mayor and his assistant.)

I'm guessing that we've had another murder... (Mia says, shaking her head.)

(Pancho snorts and shakes his head as well.)

Blissparce (Edge of town)

Well...I don't know... (The Tropius admits.) Other than that the female folk won't have to worry about being bothered by him now...but even then, I was hoping he would just move away, not be murdered like this...can you tell what may have attacked and killed him going by those nasty slashes on him?

My Wild Charge missed, but hey, no recoil damage. However, I realize that I shouldn't be focusing all of my efforts on one person. I jump into the tree and kick off of it using Quick Attack, propelling myself towards Noriaki and Dana while also avoiding the Hydro Pump.    "There's no escape!"    As I get close to them, a large sphere of fire bursts and expands all around me (Lava Plume). Rain or no, their typing means this is going to hurt. A lot. Wilson is still in the path of the Lava Plume, but that's not really a concern of mine. Rain and water and all that.

I quickly jumped out of the path of the Lava Plume, annoyed that nothing seemed to be hitting Niles, and then leapt forward to perform a Crunch.

Main Group [INN TRAINING]

Earth Power? Hmm...I don’t really think I could exactly help with that, no..but I can try to at least describe a base level understanding of the move.

I look over towards the Armaldo...wherever he is.

(I'm as surprised as you are...these ones seem easy enough to do, now that I know how, although I'll bet getting the hang of the kind of stuff I saw being done there is gonna be more of a challenge.)

Are there any other moves you figure I should know at this point? I can probably do okay with the few I've got now, especially once I've practiced using them more, but, I figure more options are probably good to have.

(Let's see, right now I've got one move that I can use from a distance, one I can use up close, and one...I guess it's like a status effect thing? Probably. Good variety, anyway.)

[Training Ground]

"Seems to be about right", a gruff, Aussie-sounding voice called to Dinah. Looking to the source of it, Soten was approaching, "Yeah, Bulldoze is a good startin' point to learn Earth Power, but you sure you feel comfortable enough for that already? Puttin' too much force in to one Ground attack might accidentally come out as an Earthquake or Magnitude if you're not careful, and Earth Power needs a pretty good amount of force put in to it.."

Achilles reads Mila's expression well and adds, "If you're not exactly comfortable with that, it's fine. We can just start off small for seeing what you can do, should work just as well."

[Forest, Outside Holstown]

Noriaki does in fact take mortal damage from the close-range Lava Plume that launches him back. The rain effects manage to let him not be knocked out by it, but he realizes the severity of how much strength L'Arachel must have given Nyquil.

"So it was power then...", he murmured to himself, "Of course. Power-hungry lost men are some of the easiest prey for people like her..."

Noriaki sputters and says to himself, "This is bad... I know I must retreat now, and get help from the others... If my allies here follow, so be it, but if not, I hope they will be alright."

Noriaki, despite his injuries, bolted to try and get away from the current battlefield and back to Holstown to alert the rest of the group.

Holstown (Training)

( ...I could cause an Earthquake? That worries me, especially since this town has been through enough already. I turn to the others.) Should I still try using Earth Power?

You could probably use Mist, too. (Bea tells Lane. She demonstrates the move for him by shaking a violet mist representing water particles off herself.

Main Group

I look to Dinah and the others.

Uh, go for it! Just remember what Soten said. And...hm..

I push a second dummy next to the first one that Dinah was already training on.

Training Grounds

Mila nods, glad to have some direction and relieved of the concern of what might happen if she went all-out for now, though that thought does lodge itself somewhere in the back of her mind. Still, she has something to focus on now, and she looks over to a nearby training dummy and slowly builds up a charge, doing her best to limit it as much as possible, trying to find the lowest level where she can get the electricity to jump from her to the dummy. However, the rate at which she attempts this brings with it problems of it's own, as by the time she reaches that critical level it surprises her, and the small Electro Ball she manages to generate launches off quickly, surprising her and ending up moving towards the others training in the main area. Realizing what happened in a panic, Mila falls back on something she's felt instinctively before and tries to pull the orb back towards her before it can hit anyone, using the effects of Lightning Rod to absorb the electricity, not realizing what's happened.

"No, no no.. I'm sorry, that was awful."

Outside

Dana is blown away by the Lava Plume, taking heavy damage in spite of the rain. She slams into a tree with a sickening crack.

Despite everything, she's still conscious.

She starts limping away after Noriaki, hoping Niles doesn't notice her and that Castaway has the wherewithal to run away.

My leg gets caught by Wilson's Crunch, but (thanks to Defense Curl) it doesn't do much other than annoy me. I use Wild Charge to kick him off. I notice Dana and Noriaki trying to escape and begin spinning up on the spot.    "Oh, no, you don't!"    Flames begin to cloak my body as I start barreling towards the two. I curve my trajectory so that I'm aligned with both of them. As I close the distance, I fall to my side so that I'm more like a spinning top than a rolling wheel. With this changed rotation, I try to trip the both of them with a fiery sweep.

"Yeah, go ahead, was just givin' a bit of a precaution", said Soten, scratching the back of his head, "It's more of a focused Earthquake, honestly, or in your case a stronger but focused Bulldoze that's more about makin' the essence of the earth burst out from under your target."

Achilles is quick to reassure Mila, "Don't be too ashamed young lady, remember what I said about learning more myself. I know it's disheartening to see unsatisfactory results, but know they will come. A fellow warrior once told me that being "awful" at something is the first step at being good at it, and eventually mastering it. And for what it's worth, that was a decently made Electro Ball. You just... Need to control it better."

A fellow warrior... Achilles thought to himself, It's been a while since I called him that... But it'd be too wordy if I specifically said he's no longer that in my eyes, in fact being what I'd call the opposite.

[Forest, Outside Holstown]

"Damn it all-"

Noriaki was knocked down on his back by Nyquil's attack.

(I nod to the Wingull.) Hmm. Not bad. Anything else you want to try?

I can't really tell from that how to—whoa!! Lane is surprised to see the Electro Ball fly close past him, then return back. He looks over at who it came from. You, uh, doing okay over there?

He then says to Grigori, Maybe once I've gotten this Mist move they're showing me figured out, I might want to work on avoiding getting hit.

Outside

Dana can't hold on any longer and faints to Niles' attack.

Holstown (Training)

( That sounds...very complicated.) Well...let me try...

( I do something similar to what I did before, this time, trying to focus on using Earth Power. I focus on the dummy, stomp my foot, and-)

FOOM! AAAAH!!

( OH MY WORD I USED IT RIGHT ON TOP OF MYSELF! I stumble around dizzily before I fall onto my rump.) Oh my goodness, I did that completely wrong... ( At least I don't think it hurt me hurt too badly...it definitely scared me, though.)

Fortunately, yer a pretty fast flier. (Bea says to Lane.) Dodgin' should be pretty easy. Y' wanna try practicin' that once ya try Mist?

(Renata is quietly reading in her small house in Gleamscape when she hears a knock on her door.)

Oh? I wonder who that could be? (Renata wonders as she wheels herself over to the front door and opens it. Opening it, she finds Lucy, Delilah, June, and Benji, who is currently in the form of Marjorie.)

Back so soon, Delilah? (Renata chuckles.)

Haha, yes, Mother... (Delilah laughs, hugging Renata.)

It's so nice to see you again, my little Delilah... (Renata says, turning to Marjorie(?) and Lucy.) Oh, do I address you by Benji or Marjorie right now? (Renata chuckles.'')

Either will work given Benji and I are one and the same, Mrs. Langley, just saying. (Marjorie(?) laughs.) How are you today?

Heya, Mrs. Del's Mom! (June says, eagerly pumping Renata's claw up and down.) I'm Del and Gooby's friend June! Nice t' meetcha!

Great! (Lucy chirps as she and Marjorie(?) step inside.) I helped Eliot and everyone save a king and queen! It was...a little scary...and I was stayin' by Eliot and Papa most of the time, but it was fun!

(Renata chuckles.) In any other circumstances, I would probably compliment you on your vivid imagination, but given the stories I've heard from Delilah and Goobert, I can totally believe that it happened. So what brings you all here today?

Oh, Delilah had a proposal for you. (Marjorie(?) says, sitting down in one of the nearby chairs.)

(Delilah sits down as well and poses the question.) Mother, what do you know about a place called Danjor Island?

Danjor...Island...? (Renata thinks for a moment.) Isn't it that place that gets all of those rumors about having a magic spring that cures curses, and severe injuries as well if I'm informed correctly? I think I may have read about it.

Yeah! (Lucy nods.)

Well...then I know that much. (Renata nods.) So what about it?

Do you want to go there? (Del asks.) If you get in the spring, you be able to use your legs again and you'll be able to battle.

Oh? (Renata says, looking down at her legs. They have consistantly withered in the years since Delilah's accident. Renata thinks about this for a moment before telling the three:) Well, Della, dear, I honestly have no desire to continue battling regardless if regain the ability to walk. I have had my time in the spotlight, and I am perfectly content to continue living in retirement.

Oh... (Lucy sighs.)

Well...fair enough. (Marjorie nods.)

Oh, but I am not saying that I wouldn't want to go there. (Renata says.) I haven't been anywhere outside of Gleamscape in ages, save for having to go to the hospital last week. I am simply saying that regardless of whether or not the spring heals my legs, I will not return to battling. Living a quiet life here in Gleamscape with my friends simply holds more appeal to me now.

(Delilah is disappointed, but nevertheless she nods. It's more important that her mother regains her legs regardless, isn't it?) I understand, Mother...

So you'll still go with us? (Lucy asks.)

Yes, I will. (Renata says, smiling.) I know how much it would mean for you if I were able to walk again, as well as how hard it is for you to put what you did to me behind you. Perhaps if I take you up on this offer, you will be able to fully put this accident behind you and be able to live life with Goobert without always worrying about me.

All right. (Delilah nods, smiling.)

Yay! (Lucy says.)

All right! (June says.)

Marvelous! (Marjorie says, smiling and pressing her(?) claws together.)

So where is Goobert now? Is he there already? (Renata asks.)

Not just yet as far as I know. (Marjorie says.) But we are are en route there with Goobert, Delilah, June, and some friends of theirs who have been cursed. We were on our way there when we had an accident and had to stop in Blissparce.

All right... (Renata nods.) Well, I'll pack my things and we'll head out there as soon as we can.

Oh, Renata, you may take your time. (Marjorie says.) I don't expect that my boat will be fully repaired until later.

Well, alright. (Renata nods.) In the meantime, why don't I fix us a brunch and you can tell me about your adventures so far?

Ooh, sounds great! (June says, now suddenly wearing an illusionary chef's hat and apron.)

Can I help? (Lucy asks.)

I don't see why not. (Renata chuckles, wheeling herself toward the kitchen.) C'mon, let's get started.

You need to force the energy outward towards the dummy, like you just did with the bulldoze.

Training Ground

"I, uh... right. Sorry."

Hearing the encouragement from Achilles as well as the response from Lane puts Mila in a bit of a strange spot, and her response is stammered out as much to one as to the other. Understanding his advice, However, Mila tries again, this time trying to hit the same level that generated the attack as before but without so much waiting and more understanding of what's about to happen. This time, as the ball forms she's more careful with it, and manages to send it towards the dummy this time, letting it crack into the wood before dissipating into the ground below. Seeing the singe marks makes Mila somewhat upset, but she's glad that it doesn't seem to have done too much damage overall. At least she's getting somewhere, though she'd still like to be able to refine her ability to use something like Discharge without hitting everything around her.

"That's better, I guess. Not what I wanted, but better."
