Narumeia's great, honestly. You can get a pretty decent idea of what she's like from her appearance in the show - she's capable of amazing feats of swordsmanship, up to and including actual teleportation, but considers herself nothing of note because of how badass her teacher is in comparison. Both of her versions are SS-Rare, so she's not the easiest to get, but she's very worth it.

She also just recently got a new outfit released.

It's been fun.

Holy cow, talk about the cameo cavalcade! Including Narmaya who I for the longest time though was the main character of the series. This really felt like a raid boss event.

Really awesome battle too, who knew fighting fish could be so exciting?

Wait is Black Knight Eugene's daughter?

It would be fun if all those people joined the crew, but I guess that'd be too much.

I wonder what's the next episode gonna be about?

This page, which does appear to be legit, says that Djeeta will be appearing in the anime, so it'll likely be a crew shenanigans episode with Djeeta instead of Gran.

And yes, the Black Knight is Eugen's daughter. They do not get along.

It's been fun.

I wonder if they're going with Djeeta's game appearance or that new outfit they made for anime promos.

[up][up][up][up] That is sweet. I'm being sold on this game through the designs alone! Shame the game's in Japanese as far as I know.

[up][up][up] Actually kind of disappointed it was all fish considering how Lovecraftian marine creatures can get. But hey, we get a bunch of neat-looking cameos kicking fish butt so it evens out.

Who the heck is Djeeta?

The game actually has an English translation, though the game is still Japan only so making an account to play it can be a bit of a hassle.

Djeeta is the female player character.

I didn't even see an option for a female PC.

Oh well. The game's too annoying to play on this laptop, anyway. Game screen is like three times longer than my monitor.

The option to switch between genders is in the player profile section, near the top-left corner.

Yeah, it's a little bit buried.

Anyway, I'm kind of expecting a beach episode for at least one of these extra episodes, given that it's the summer season soon and that beach episodes are one of the bigger themed/seasonal variants for characters.

Sadly, I doubt Summer Zoey will make a cameo. I'd love it if she did, but her being there would break continuity straight in half. (For context, Zoey is a crew member you can get who's actually one of the most powerful Primals (you fight her as a raid boss); "canonically", if you have the character, she joins the crew after her interests align with yours around Chapter 55 or so.)

[up] IMO, her cameo - as long as she doesn't directly interact with the gang - shouldn't break the continuity irreparably... Now I have an image of her sitting there on the beach with a Newspaper-Thin Disguise, "keeping an eye" on the Grandcypher crew.

Yeah, at this point in the story she would have no reason to actively come after them since Vyrn is still dormant and Akasha hasn't been awakened yet.

Though I think the idea of acting like a human is fairly new to most Primals.

It's been fun.

Here comes Djeeta...

Also, does Grandcypher grow with the size of her crew? I swear, she wasn't as huge before.

Pretty sure the Grandcypher is as big as it needs to be, like in that one interactive video that Cygames put up where the ship is positively tiny to make sure Vira and Ferry don't walk too far away from the viewer.

Anyway Episode 13!

I guess it's nice that Djeeta fans get to see her in several scenes from the anime but wow this exposition feels incredibly forced. Also the Colo cut where it just casually skips to beating it was the best part of that long exposition scene.

Can't believe Djeeta is a filthy megawhale who casually drew all these characters.

The journal just became even more adorable if that's how Lyria actually depicts everyone in it.

That zebra swimsuit that Narmaya suggested Djeeta should wear is actually part of Djeeta's outfit for the Ogre class.

Lunalu showed up but only in silhouette, so this episode is now officially Good But Not As Good As It Could've Been. Also I wonder if Rosetta getting a swimsuit is an indication that she's part of this year's batch of swimsuit characters.

Oh so they're using summer Narmaya's second fate episode plot for this episode with the change being that someone is actually responsible for the ice disappearing (in the game, it's implied that ice is just scarce that year.)

This is a nice remix of the Battle 1 theme. Also actually now that I think about it, where is Eugen? He should've joined up since they also picked up Rosetta and he actually has a swimsuit they can depict in the anime unlike Rackam.

Well that was a fun episode, comedic, light-hearted, and fun stuff is what I enjoy most of all in the game and this was no exception what with Colossus being used as a transport through the ocean to Pommern being visibly terrified of Djeeta.

And since I guess episode 14's going to be a DVD only thing, I'll put my thoughts on the anime as a whole too, this series was a pretty decent adaptation, but there are some weird deviations like Yggdrasil getting New Powers as the Plot Demands. All the little details they put in from the game were fun to spot. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and wouldn't object to another season (and more free shit in the game).

A friend of mine pointed out that it's no surprise Djeeta is basically one-shotting the Imperials - one of the outfits hanging on the clothesline is the Warlock cloak, which means she did some serious grinding to get there before Auguste. XD

It's been fun.

Who's that pink impostor and what did she do to steal Gran's life?

Fanservice episode, which means swimsuits. Nice. Lol at Io getting intimidated by everyone's... chestpieces.

I'm bit miffed we didn't get such a big crew in the main plot tho.

Lol, at Imperials reduced to stealing ice. Villain Decay hit them hard. I also choose to believe it's for shaved ice.

That's Djeeta, the female main character - you can switch between her and Gran anytime in the series, and the only real difference is pronouns.

Except, as some people have noted, that this Djeeta is apparently a filthy microtransations whale and way further along in the class progression than Gran.

It's been fun.

While it would've been nice to have a larger cast, chances are it would've bogged down the main story and tbh I'd prefer them to get through the main story without having to cram in dozens of other characters who originally didn't have anything to do with the plot.

Man, in that case they should have them switch out at random through the anime with no one noticing.

Oh, she's one of those...

Well, the joke is mostly because she has a lot of SSR characters (including their swimsuit versions, to continue the joke) where Gran is basically plodding along with only the story characters.

Of course, like I said, she has a lot of powerful classes unlocked, so no one can say she hasn't put the work in on top of that.

It's been fun.

Hilarious interpretation. I love it!

Should have known that the FeMC AU episode would be fanservice-packed. To its credit though the swimsuit designs are excellent.

Vira's summer swimsuit also includes the same leg-ribbons as Zeta's. Really, all the Summer versions are fanservice-packed and about as beautiful as you'd expect from Minaba Hideo's art.

Here are a few more designs - this is promo art for the Granblue Summer cafe that's opening in Tokyo in a few weeks.

It's a real shame that Zoey (in the center there) wasn't included in the anime, but she would have broken the anime in half the same way she breaks the game balance - she's a playable Primal, an order of magnitude at least more powerful lore-wise than the elemental Primals Lyria collects.

It's been fun.

I kinda hope the next season has another swimsuit episode so they can adapt one of the Jin summer events. The first one was kinda boring but Jin's Auguste adventures were great and I really want to see them fishing a flaming Bonito or fighting the watermelon monster in animated form.
