I am wondering what kinds of interesting local-only live-action children's programming people grew up with.
Yesterday, one of my relatives posted a clip from the "Wallace and Ladmo" show to Facebook and it got me all nostalgic. This was a show that was local to Arizona - Phoenix area when I was a kid. I remember it from the 1980s, but It was around earlier than that (I think it went back to the 1950s!) It was a comedy-variety show... it showed cartoons, but mostly, it was about the skits featuring Straight Man Wallace and the wackier Ladmo and a few other regular characters (I remember Gerald, the bratty little boy who was an adult dressed up as a bratty little boy most of all). I was actually on the show once as a member of the studio audience when my girl scout troop got to go see a taping. One of the most beloved features of the program were the giveaways of "Ladmo Bags" these swag-bags full of goodies to lucky kids whose names were drawn at random. (I didn't get a Ladmo Bag when I was there... but I think one or two other members of my troop did).
I looked it up here to see if any Tropers as old as I am who grew up in Arizona might have remembered it and made a page for it (I don't remember it well enough to do so, I'd have to plough through watching episodes). I just found some of the 80s material on Youtube. I just watched an episode and I'd forgotten just how sarcastic the humor was! No wonder I loved this as a kid! (Boffo the curmudgoney clown... Captain Super - a superhero who acts like a dictator...Heh, heh).
Anyway, what are some of the local-area shows you remember? They have to be real, no Candle Cove stuff.
