It's happened! Pillars 2 achieved it's initial funding goal in less than 24 hours! Time for stretch goals.

Having reached 3 tropes for the second game (enough to start a page without being called a stub), I decided to create a seperate work page. Feel free to add anything upon further info.

I need to replay Pillars 1. It's been a while, and I can't wait to jump into it.

I need to restart the whole game. I've been gone so long, that I don't think I remember where I am.

Well, it was inevitable. Xoti has joined

In addition, UI customization has been added. And it seems NPC portraits are gonna go though a small change, using a watercolor style. Not sure how to feel about them yet, but we'll see.

Who's Xoti?

Xoti is a priest/monk companion, a priestess of Gaun (Eothas' harvest aspect) that fled from Readceras to Deadfire as a young girl.

I think the idea might be that major NP Cs still get the classic portrait style, while other NP Cs get the watercolours because it is cheaper and simpler.

I like the idea of giving every NPC in the game a unique portrait in a watercolor style, and I think it looks really cool.

Yeah, they've got a lot of nice little visual details in the works for this game. That one old guy looks like Lantry from Tyranny if he lost that Pollyanna/Black Shirt optimism he's got going.

Pledged. Can't remember if I saw this mentioned earlier in the thread, but I got my superbacker pledge for backing the first game. Five bucks off, check your email.

Good to have some context as to why returning companions are on Deadfire as well.

Not really surprised Eder is coming back. He's the resident Eothas devotee, after all.

I wonder if Eder, Aloth and Pallegina coming back for Pillars 2 is simply because they're the most memorable of the companions from the first game. No offense to Kana Rua or Sagani or Grieving Mother or Durance though.

(Actually, full offense to Durance because I don't really like him, lol).

Naasitaq is apparently a visitable region in this game, so I expect we'll be seeing Sagani, even though she won't be joining us.

Unless she never found the elder with you, of course. But yeah, Sagani's not going to want to go anywhere after finally get back home.

I liked Durance. Not, like, as a person, but he was interesting as a rival of sorts. Also he was very useful to me from a gameplay standpoint.

Update #6: $2.0M Reached, AI Script Customization Unlocked Update #7: Multiclassing

I'm not usually all that interested by the inherent min/maxy fussiness of multiclassing, but the way they describe it here (you can only multiclass once, you won't outshine single-classed characters, and each class combo gets a unique title), I'd actually be up for that. Being able to multiclass your companions adds a little something to replay value, too— trying out different builds and strategies for tackling battles in Tyranny definitely kept me coming back for longer than I might have done otherwise.

A couple of updates have happened in the past couple of days, but we could get a pirate stronghold!

Also, the stretch goal for having additional voiceovers (Pillars 2 is already going to have more voiceacting in it than Pillars 1 did before the stretch goal was announced) was reached as well.

The 2.8 stretch goal (after the 2.6 new game+ one): more actual orchestra, level cap to 20 (reachable from a combination of faster levelling and more content), additional sub-classes for every class. The Fulvano's Voyage dependent-on-number-of-backers chain is close to unlocking the second isle.
