i’ve actually made some works along the lines of siampunk! i generally call it thai-fi, though if it’s dvaravati-inspired, i call it dvapunk. it also includes indigenous cultures, so i guess there’s some of like… the other SEA nations in there as well?

This post is brought to you by Diarmuid ZThis is tangential, but let me say that I do like your genre-names there! (Especially "Thai-fi", but also "Dvapunk".) ^_^
My Games & WritingI think SE Asian architecture but with the technology and scale of Blade Runner or Metropolis would be really cool. If I go through with making something like that, I’d absolutely call it “Thai-Fi” because that’s too good of a name to pass up.
I for one would love to see "Dark Deco" be a thing outside Skullgirls and NTAS. Merge the glamour of Art Deco with the themes of Cyberpunk and you're good to go. Hell Cyberpunk already takes a lot from Noir, so things are halfway there!
I've proposed a bunch of these once, but one I have is:
Heliopunk: The pre-war 1900's where electric power stayed dominant over oil and coal, where giant solar farms dot the countryside and cover buildings while electric cars are all the rage. However, corporations have built them at the expense of the working class, and many of the rural solar farms are raided and disrupted by disgruntled rural workers-turned luddite bandit clans, while coal and oil barons fianance them to try and regain their power. Meanwhile down below, an illegal battery trade thrives in the underworld below the solar panel roofs.
Basically its if Solar Punk went bad and the dirty part of Steampunk was its enabler.
Also, I've heard some describe Dishonored as Whalepunk. That makes me think of a work where west coast Native Americans and Inuit developed a more highly advanced culture baed around domestivating whales as old traditions struggle to eek out a living among the new.
