It is really interesting to use the older episodes as a way to see how much times habe changed. At one point someone DUI and killed like 5 people. He was charged with murder, but the DA relented and - after initially supressing the evidence that he was drunk - allowed it and went for a lighter sentence. From what I have read, that wouldn't work today (the judge did say though that the defendent did not deserve such a light punishment, but he had to obey the law).
Sometimes the values dissonance could be rather harsh for a European, e.g. when they sentenced 13 year old boy to (I think) life in prison, and then there was the one time when a lawyer was also sentenced to life in prison, because he would not break lawyer confidentiality and reveal where his client had hidden the bodies of his victims.
I once had an idea for a channel that just played the original Law & order episodes, uncut, on a continuous loop with no other programming. It would also be streamed.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

In regards to the character pages, I'm the person who split up the SVU page (hi!) and I definitely agree that some characters should have separate pages; speaking for SVU, Benson and Stabler at the very least need their own pages.
In the police procedural television system, there was one show wherein the people were represented by two separate, yet equally important, groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. After being off the air for more than 11 years, their stories are coming back.

My mom was saying that over the summer. You can definitely see it in the technology, the color of the police officers' uniforms (they went from baby blue to dark navy blue around 1996), the paint job on the police cars (from blue with white text to white with blue text around 1998-1999), etc.note
