Momentarily distracted, he barely blocks an arrow with the new shield, the blow dulling his already aching arm; Rsama nimbly dodges the next shot from the mighty bow. Sighting the archer responsible, Osroes pulls them both into a dive. “You know my mind, Ailes,” he calls, lance gleaming; “to stand against that is the only course – and if I die in that course, I know I go to the radiant host having earned my place, while your crimes send you to oblivion’s side!”

Osroes takes his turn after Cassandra but before Grendan. Osroes obtains Grendan’s Pure Water.

If Cassandra does not defeat Calderian 36, Osroes moves to AG17 and attacks Calderian 36 with the Holy Lance.

If Cassandra defeats Calderian 36, Osroes moves to AE15 and prepares an attack with the Kontos, to trigger if two enemies will be hit by the attack at once; if any of Calderians 37, 43, 46, 47 or 48 comes into range; if an enemy who can deal enough damage to wound Cassandra on a regular hit comes into range; or if the enemy phase is about to end and there is an enemy in range.

An ear-splitting shriek rang out from the eastern skies as a small group of wyverns came flying over the river from some hidden outpost in the forest beyond. Swiftly, the descended on the battlefield, breaking from formation as they dove toward the fight. The Calderians turned to brace themselves for in incoming attack, but instead, most of the Vissan troops landed beside the wounded mercenaries. Two produced vulneraries from their saddlebags and poured their healing contents into Diane and Cassandra's mouths. A third finished mending Cassandra's wounds with a healing staff, and to her surprise, among the senses she was regaining was one of familiarity.

"Captain Hildegarde! I knew that had to be Brynhild's whinny I heard on the wind!" the lead wyvern rider called out, laughing with the relief of one who had feared they were going crazy until just this moment. She swung herself back into her saddle, and hefted her axe. "You'll have to tell us all where you've been later. Let us drive these scum back together!"

The last thing Cassandra expected was the arrival of friendly - and familiar - faces to rescue her from the brink of death. "Call it soul-searching!" She hefted the lance once more, diving into the fray.

Osroes grunts a little as magical blows rain down on shield and armour; Rsama beats his wings, throwing the two back to disengage and landing just as the wyverns do. The cataphract glances sideways momentarily – Relief at seeing Vissan reinforcements; today grows more bizarre by the second – before yelling and ramming his spear forward.

Osroes moves to AI15 and attacks Calderian 47 with the Kontos.

Requesting that Diane take her turn after Grendan, moving to AI14, taking the Fortify Staff from Cassandra, continuing to AI16 and using an appropriate staff to heal either Grendan if he is in range or Osroes if he is not.

Grendan grimaced; while he'd like to help with the last of the Calderians nearby, he wasn't in good enough condition to fight at the moment. Instead, he withdrew to tend to his wounds, muttering an apology as he passed his newfound Vissan allies.

Osroes looks across the battlefield, the tower looming above. Only one Calderian remains – but that Calderian sits astride her mount in a narrow crook below the ridge, Light coursing across her form… He feels a twinge of respect, then a hardening of his resolve. Cannot let the Vissans dash themselves against her. Need a plan.

His eyes catch sight of Railen, hidden atop the crag. He could deal the killing blow… Only with an opening – a distraction. Osroes’ mind takes the pieces, rearranges them… They come together.

He shuts his eyes. Places his hand against Rsama’s barded neck. Smiles, just a little. “Once more.”

Then he raises his lance, a flickering torch of divine energy against the enemy’s tempest, and readies his gleaming shield. “Serve our creator well!” Osroes shouts as loudly as he is able, Rsama rearing back beneath him and beating his wings at his companion’s behest.

And they charge.

Osroes moves to AF14 and makes a non-lethal attack against Calderian 43 with the Holy Lance.

Requesting that, should he fall, Diane heals Osroes.
