The Good, The Bad and The Spandex: Discussion Thread

Looks like the Musical is winding down. Too bad, because it was a hoot. There's still time for some of you to jump in if you want thought.

Meanwhile, let's check on other current and future plans:

-Regarding the battle at Base Beta, due to some people not responding to it I'm going to handwave it away. I declare that Fracture's minions failed to regain it but Twelve managed to escape. The Base is still under TALOS' control but the superagents have gone home. Note that TALOS never regained their stolen ordnance.

-Speaking of TALOS they should become more active in the city soon (though the bank robbery is below their interest.) I don't have a full plot here yet though, I'm open to suggestions.

-Also, how's this for our next event: since it's October, how about a Halloween-themed one? Well, sort of. We have had the Narrative Titans for a long while, not to mention The Virtues and the Gods of the Modern Age, its about time they debuted in-game. Some of them are quite fearsome, and their mere presence may attract monsters. (And no it doesn't need to happen *exactly* on Halloween, either.) Feel free to suggest how your character would get involved.

Really would like to apologise for the rapidly dwinding number of posts I've been making recently. Final exams for the year have been a thing, and will continue to be so for about another month or so, and so I'd also like to apologise in advance for the continued dwindling of posts in future. I won't pretend that Labyrinth needing about 60 tweaks before I'm willing to even look at it again isn't a part of it, though.

Anyway, back on topic. I'd be interested in the involvement of these not-yet-seen characters, but alternative options are always useful, lest someone not want to take part in Lovecraft Time(tm).

The basic Idea for our 'Halloween Havoc" is this: The Monster attacks the city, and God-King challenges him, naturally wrecking the place (again). Everybody from Talos on down would try to stop them.Some of the Modern Gods get involved as the media covers the event. A new character (actually created a while ago by a former member, I just received permission to use her) will be appearing too. Drakon should feel all these presences as well. Everyone else is welcome to join in if they wish of course.

Details as they are developed.

As a character directly connected to the Modern Gods, I feel obligated to bring Pollutrix into this.

I figure Mindseye will get involved one way or another- maybe she'll try and look into where the Narrative Titans come from, and it spirals from there.

I'll make complete write-up of the Monster(-in-miniature) for you Sijo.

TALOS could hold a clandestine and questionably legal siege of the Black Flamingo if they're trying to make inroads into the city and solidify their hold.

A siege of the Black Flamingo sounds fun. As does the invasion of a large, unfriendly monster. Pirate-zombies, anyone?

I quite liked Mongrel's introduction, if only because I enjoy Noir-esk detectives.

I think you did PQI. In fact both your characters have been a hoot.

And Goa: All that seems OK, I love the Rat King idea its like something out of The Nutcracker. But what's your goal? If you want to help Pollutrix, I think Hazel already did everything that can be done for her (at least for now.) Also how about using Mongrel for the Halloween Plot? Pollutrix will be involved as well I think.

Well, following Pollutrix might lead up to the Monster. It just seems like something Mongrel would do, following up on this weird and dangerous looking magic.

Special Announcement: The Halloween Plot will be preceded by a flash-forward- it will take place some time after the bank robbery, and sometime during "October of the current year". This is to give the city time to recover from recent events such as the giant robot attacks. Also it gives your characters the chance to recover or even train, be upgraded etc. (remember upgrades have to announced here first.)

The plot will begin as soon as all the loose ends of the Musical Episode are tied up (ie. Very soon.)

For Halloween, I decided to actually sit down and work on one of my ideas.

The Abstract

Easton Art Gallery has several permanent exhibits. One of them is of the collected paintings, sculptures, and general artistic works, finished or not, of the 1930s artist Tieri Novacas (Pronounced Nova Chass, with soft As, like "artistic"). Covering all manner of themes and messages, the exhibit itself seems like a particularly standard set of exhibits (except that something seems particularly inspired, and those who enjoy it rapidly become more and more enamoured).

Of course, this being an ambiguously-titled faction application, it's not that simple. The centerpiece of the exhibit, titled "Patchwork World", is actually a very grabby portal (although it only functions when only the one going through is watching) which leads through to the Abstract, a realm which is effectively the inside of the painting. Containing every work that Novacas has ever produced, the Abstract is effectively the home of all of his pieces of art, which collectively perceive him as a father of sorts.

Describing the Abstract is an act of futility; as with all art, people perceive it differently, and as such, what is a fluffy bunny for one person may actually be a horribly discoloured munchkin that's about to eat another person. Having the person perceiving it as a bunny in this instance would stop the munchking from actually hurting the "true" perceiver, as that would shatter the illusion. The Abstract naturally works to keep the illusion as perfect as it can for everyone.

Although the painting known as "Self Portrait" does act as a de facto leader, each work of art is its own individual. That said, the general consensus for what the Abstract desires is to locate Novacas, and to this end, it has been kidnapping people to help them find him, to little success.

Character Update: Pollutrix

Powers: Polluting Aura - She has gained control of this to the degree that, while she still can't directly touch them, she won't kill plants and foul water just by being near them if she doesn't want to.

Offensive Odor - Because of the "perfume" given to her by Hazel, most of the time her odor is at a level where it could conceivably pass for rather bad BO. She can intensify it at will, and decrease it to a significant degree, although not to the same level as the perfume.

Transforming Clothes - The thread given to her by Hazel can transform from her costume to her street clothes and back in an instant. It also cannot get dirty.

Description: Pollutrix's new costume consists of skintight yellow spandex with green accents and boots, with no sleeves. She also wears a green mask over the upper half of her face.

So, since the Time Skip has happened, can we assume that the Bear's hiring by Irving Investigations has happened?

I guess I'll go ahead and and add my potential update for Xy and Julian, for the sake of it.

Character Update: Xyberpunk

Description: In the time since the events of the Bank Heist, Xy has been hired as a bouncer for The Black Flamingo. Thanks to having a steady job, her socialization skills have improved slightly, and she seems to be a bit happier as a person. She's still keeping an eye out for people like TALOS, and she has no idea of the more nefarious goings-on that happen in the quieter parts of the Flamingo, but beyond that she's at least financially in a better place.

Character Update: Julian MacReady, aka "JJ"

Description: Julian's first year at the University has been highly uneventful since the Heist, which has been a boon for both her grades and her capabilities. Having spent several hours a week honing her skills, she's gained a finer control over the "JJ" construct since her arrival in Easton. While the maximum time limit for using "JJ" within several hours still ends up being around thirty minutes, exercising the constructs abilities do not decrease this limit as severely as before.

Despite still not having a good name for "JJ", she has become a semi-known hero, having stopped several minor crimes in the last month. It's likely some citizens, as well as some heroes and villains, may recognize the glowing, hard-light hero upon sighting her.

Character Update.

Axel Bates: After the events of the Bank robbery and everything, Axel returned to his father (After a official investigation and interrogation of course) and they proceeded to talk shop about his abilities. The two agreed that mobility was needed to allow him to better dodge, his servos and movement systems were fine tuned with his boots receiving a upgrade into a more solid design with a booster system. Axel can now use the rocket like abilities in the boots to dash about and hopefully prevent himself from being hit with a wave of sewage again. Weapons have also been fortified and the armor layering in his clothing has been upgraded from Kevlar.

Virgil Sage: Virgil had been watching the heist from some Spy bots and was honestly impressed with what happened, a bit disappointed that there was no Jazz or Swing. But with that in mind he's recently bought out a old Car Factory on the far end of Easton and has begun work refurbishing it with the help of what robot forces he did get away with, ultimate goal is to start building androids like Axel. Virgil has also begun work on various vehicle designs in case he needs to fight directly or get the hell out of dodge. Stryders have been upgraded and current line is producing a variation called Ryders with a AI strong enough to operate vehicles.

Yeah, you're good to have The Bear on staff now. I'd writeup a full new costume for her but I'm not super invested in her right now. Maybe later.

No major character upgrades for Reverb currently... She'd have her car fixed and structurally improved, though. I think also some slightly better body armour - some better protection on her legs and torso than the previous bullet proof vest.

Also, I finally managed to have Reverb murder some people - Yay! Anyone can feel free to find her post-killing but otherwise I'll have her continue on to The Black Flamingo.

I have no clue what to do for Dragon Man.
