[up][up][up][up][up][up][up]Funny, I'm sick of Trapinch because 10km eggs always spawn that guy.

Meanwhile, mine always seem to give me Bagon. 😅

I'm a bit surprised that Shroomish's shiny color wasn't the one that was added for this event since it's the one that gets the special move when you evolve it. Been finding and catching a lot of Trapinches out in the wild since it started.

On the flipside this event made Wailmer and the gen 3 starters common so I guess I can't complain.

I've been getting stupid high amounts of mareep.

Haven't seen any trapinch. Just the ocasional gen3 starter, wailmer, and swablu in terms of actual desirable pokes.

I'm now starting to wonder if there's regional variation on 10 km egg content percentage, because my 10 km eggs overwhelmingly favor Larvitar.

I've been seeing a ton of Trapinch, so much that Flygon is now realistic for me to get without burning Rare Candies or walking one. One thing that's been mildly frustrating is that I'm seeing surprisingly fewer Spheal and Snorunt than I usually do given the time of year... the problem being that stops regularly spawn "Catch 10 Ice" quests still, but they're a mug's game with how few Gen 3 ice-types are spawning locally at the moment (the last time I had it, I mostly finished it with Hail-bodied Castforms).

I will give credit, though - beyond that one, all of the quests right now are pretty reasonable.

My local group just finished up our Boulder Cup. I managed to win!

In other news, the next CD is Swinub, on Feburary 16th in Europe, Africa and the Americas, and the 17th in the Asia-Pacific region. Probably something to do with the Year of the Pig. No mention of Mamoswine, but...

The news update does actually mention Mamoswine. It looks like it'll simply evolve with a Sinnoh Stone rather than evolve while knowing Ancient Power. Speaking of which, I'm expecting that to be the move it'll learn upon evolution.

EDIT: And you can potentially earn up to five Sinnoh Stones through trainer battles during it, too.

Oh boy. Swinub day. It was right up there with Drowzee day and Pidgey day in terms of the community day that all of the players local to me have been asking for.

Look, I know that not everyone has Swinub as a Com Mon, so good for everyone else. But I would have greatly preferred either A) a CD based on something that's not a Com Mon for anyone that has a Sinnoh evolution (like, say, Lickitung), or B) a CD where some other place's Com Mon becomes readily available for you (like everyone else could get Swinub, but I could get Tangela).

Sure, the shiny Swinub chance will be appreciated, but I truly doubt that the next Swinub I catch will give me anything that the first 698 (yes, that's how many the Pokedex says I've caught) didn't give me.

Practically speaking, that's just way too much effort for a problem that only a handful of areas are going to have. Putting aside Niantic's inability to put in timely quality-of-life enhancements and their over-reliance on procedural code without any intervention (lol, Ex Raids in the middle of both Totodile and Feebas Days), that's a lot of extra dev time for what most companies would see as a small benefit. Maybe if it affected Japan and they made enough noise about it, but even then.

Is it actually possible to get Sinnoh Stones from leader battles? I rarely have time or inclination to try to battle other people for these things, and the dramatically lowered chance to get them from completing research breakthroughs is irksome.

I don't know if it's just a "handful" of areas. While I can't confirm, from anecdotal evidence I have, it affects, at the very least, pretty much the northern half of the US and all of Canada.

I honestly can see one practical way they could do it - swap out the usual biome data. For 3 hours, make the biomes move around, making what's usually uncommon-to-rare into commons, with one in particular becoming shiny. It'd be some work, yes, but not outrageously so.

[up][up][up] Yes. It's about 1 in 8, no matter the source. I've gotten a few from picking on Blanche.

[up] Well, being Canadian, I can safely say that most game devs (and companies in general, really) don't give a shit about us one way or another (our country as a whole barely has more population than just Texas, so it's kind of hard to blame them, really). That leaves the northern US, which is not Japan, so the Pokemon Company generally won't give a shit either (and if they're not mandating it, Niantic would rather sit in their little AR playground and work only on that).

There appears to be some sort of flash event going on that's causing lots and lots of Psyducks to appear alongside the Hoenn mons.

The raid boss will change to Palkia in a little over two hours!

Honestly, I was expecting Regigigas to tie Hoenn and Sinnoh together. There really is no pattern to these bosses/

Probably a reaction to the three Regis being predictably in a row driving people nuts and wrecking Raid Pass sales.

Also, Palkia and Dialga were pretty heavily anticipated, particularly given how early Altered Forme Giratina was given out (also, predicting Origin Forme Giratina to follow Dialga).

It wasn't exactly a picnic back in the original series. It doesn't help that most of our Fairy-type options aren't exactly powerhouses - to whit, do we have any effective Fairy-type offensive threats outside of Gardevoir and Togekiss yet? I think the closest we might have is, geez, various Normal types with Play Rough.

Based on the moveset (Fire Blast? Really? Huh.), I'm going to guess that I'm probably going to workhorse mostly with neutral damage, because I honestly don't have much that's going to be super effective against Palkia that isn't also at risk from Draco Meteor. I have the feeling that most of my work is going to be done by Tyranitar, Swampert (focusing on Earthquake), and my usual assortment of heavy hitters.

Granbull is apparently pretty okay for damage. Snarl/Play Rough Granbulls are about 91% of Gardevoire DPS. It's pretty convenient for me, since those damn ugly dogs plagued downtown during cloudy weather for the longest time and still love to show up in droves now and again. I've got a bunch of them over level 30 from when I used to shove them in gyms when I didn't have better defenders.

I've got two teams set up: one where I run all my strongest dragons against non-Draco Meteor sets; and a second that runs my best dragons with fast charges moves, with the other slots being filled by Gardevoire and Granbull (since most of my Dragonites run Draco Meteor and that slow speed makes them useless against opposing Draco Meteor where the raid boss is guaranteed to charge it faster).

Alolan Ninetails is another one that looks good for a drawn-out battle since it's double resistant and does a decent enough 12 DPS. If mine wasn't set up with a full Ice set, I'd probably be fielding her.

I have a couple of Clefable with Pound and Dazzling Gleam. That's an okay option.

Plus there's those maxed Ditto I have lying around. Palkia is good against itself after all...

I'm a bit confused on daily PVP rewards regarding leader fights. I know you can only get daily rewards from them once per day. I know the stardust reward is dependent on the difficulty. But does the difficulty also affect the chance of getting Sinnoh Stone? I had nine days of only getting stardust (and eight of nine 300 dust because I was picking on Great League Blanche). It was on my tenth day in a Master League Blanche that I got a Sinnoh Stone.

I don't think league has any effect on rewards at all. Almost all of my battles, including against other trainers, are in the Great League and that doesn't seem to affect anything.
