Ilya - Travelmates with a bote and pervert detective

"Hm? Oh, don't mind if I do!" Accepting the offered bribery in candy-form and thus securing Minneapolis position as a 'nice person' in the Magus' mind, she quickly unwrapped it before tossing it into her mouth.

Mmmm, chewy. Wait, this looks like... was this what they call a bubblegum? From what little she knows on it, one could make a bubble from their mouth with it.

And thus with newfound goal in mind, that is what Ilya tried to do: making a bubble from it with her mouth. And failing horribly each time but that didn't deter her in the slightest even as she's starting to make odd noises! So focused was the scion of the Einzbern family on her grand task that she didn't even realize a certain womanizing detective was following along with them as well.

Haseo- Dead World -> Tower

Well, getting the key was a lot easier than expected. Honestly, it seemed too easy, even. He honestly expected some sort of swerve before they got it, but no, not unless something or someone was playing a really, really long con.

Angry small girl wasn't it, but it was a bit unexpected. "Honestly, it really wasn't exciting. If I knew it was this easy, I probably wouldn't have bothered." A bit of a lie on that last part, yeah, he'd still do it, but did he wish not too.

Either way, with that done, he went on his way back to the Tower. Seems like they still have a bit to wait, though. They want to have a celebration, and, while he would rather just go on with this quest, far be it from him to deny them this much.

Jubei- Tower as Well

"... Eh, sure, whynot?" He was a bit slow and missed the group embarking, but he wasn't complaining (The young girl, however, was a different story). There was sure to be enough action soon enough, so might as well take in the calm while he can. That said, he was starting to get bored of sitting around, so he figured he could explore a little bit, before the festivities started.

Floor 5 -> Level 3 - Minneapolis

Minneapolis smiled at Ilya as she accepted the bubblegum and made cute faces trying to blow bubbles with it. Her smile turned more neutral when a certain detective arrived on the scene. He was nice enough to lend her his knife, but then he had wiped out a good deal of goodwill by being so... forward. Still, no need to get on someone's bad side.

After a few moments of consideration, she pulled out another piece of bubblegum and gently tossed it, underhanded, Ryo's way.

Since they all had spent some time on the previous floor and knew what was already there, she didn't feel the need to retread the same ground and went down two flights of stairs instead. She knew that everyone else had seemed to come through these floors alright, so they couldn't be too bad, but it was still useful to be cautious.

It was a city street, some sort of Asian city by the looks of it, given the style. And all the signage was in... Japanese. She couldn't read it, but she had seen enough to recognize it. This was the Sakura Empire. Although, none of the people in the streets had fox ears or furry tails, so was it an occupied territory? Either way, she wasn't a fan of sticking around long.

"Too noisy," she said to whoever had come along. "Too urban. I don't like it."

Kashira Lavellan - Tower - Fifth Floor - Keepers of the Lost Lore

Kashira had had little enough to say during the whole of their journey. And it seemed no one was in a hurry to speak to her. It was refreshing, in a way, almost like being back with her friends and companions, trudging across half of Thedas after some doubtful errand or other. There had been times then that none of them had needed to speak for hours at a time. To let the world sink in a little, as her old Keeper might say. Not letting the destination get in the way of the journey.

And what a journey it was. She knew better than to force aid where it wasn't wanted and so merely offered profound thanks for the help of the people. Sometimes you had to accept an outrageous gift or else offend a sincere giver. The giant - he looked and acted rather like the Avvar mountain clans - evidently was gifted with magic to ease their passage. If concentration permitted and he was willing, she would ask a few questions about it. It was always good to learn.

But certainly she was quiet by the time they sighted their destination. She had seen the lost grandeur of the Deep Roads, a mad would-be god rip a sprawling temple from the ground, and gazed upon the infinite reaches of the Beyond. But this...this had been built! By mortals!

"Tel garas solasan..." she said softly, the words like dull stones falling into the grey waters. She had to shake herself to stop staring up and up and up at it until she strained to see where it vanished into the clouds. When the boat gently thumped against the shore, she almost toppled over, catching herself with her staff at the last moment, startled back to the world at her feet. The rest of the journey was less eventful, and she could well understand how the key had been so impossible to find. She shuddered at the thought that it might well have been them growing old and dying with no hope of escape or return home.

Upon their return, she moved to allay Sumi's anger.

"It wasn't intentional, I assure you. I had assumed you'd notice our preparations, I suppose. We did make a fair amount of noise and commotion. I didn't even know you wanted to go with, to be honest."

The Disputer's request, of course, was one she would readily agree to and was glad to see that the others did as well.

"Please do," she said to him. "We would be honored to observe and remember this moment for your people."

Ryo Saeba - Fifth Floor —> Third Floor

Ryo heartily accepted the gum and began chewing on it. The sight of yet another talking, walking cat really made him lament he couldn't watch Umibozu's reaction to that.

The sight of the Third Floor made the Sweeper gasp in shock. He actually recognized Tokyo's red light district. "That's Kabuchiko!" Did he find his back home that quickly? That was surely too good to be true, right? He turned toward his current companions. "Sorry, I need to check on something." He then ran off toward the nearest nightclub to find some Yakuzas to interrogate. If this was his world, they'd knew City Hunter.

Njall, Dead World

-The trip was as uneventful as could be expected of a world without life. Still, there is no reason to let their guard down. Far too many souls were lost to humanity when one cult believed its interpretation of the Imperial Creed were the only correct ones, and fell victims to the insidious darkness without realizing it.-

Alisaie - Tallhome

The young elezen was subdued as the group returned to the tower, her thoughts still dwelling on the dead city they had just left.

How long had it taken to build? And how long had it taken to crumble away? Kashira had filled her in about the tale of this world's past, but the sight of that man-made mountain of a city had dashed all of her preconceptions. She could practically feel the weight of the ruin's age and history pressing down on her while the group had followed the trail to the alter, and even now she felt she could sense it looming behind her, hidden behind the clouds and the walls of the Tower.

The tight, claustrophobic confines and smokey, well-lived atmosphere of Tallhome were a surprising tonic for this strange melancholy - albeit a little sobering in its own way. Seeing the Disputer, shaking under the importance of this moment just as much as his own weight, made Alisaie regret her earlier suspicious somewhat. Surely they couldn't begrudge these people a ceremony to close this chapter of their history.

As the climbers began to mill around, waiting, Alisaie busied herself by stripping off her still-damp coat, draping it over one arm as she let the warmth of the tower's interior combat the lingering chill from the storm. She put her free hand on her hips and swept the scene with her gaze, the sight of the Locksmith reminding her of a promise she had made a few hours ago.

"Has anyone seen the 'black swordsman'?" She asked aloud, a bit of a cold glint in her eyes behind her bangs.

Jubei- Tower, 3rd Floor, Kabuchiko(?)

The place Jubei found himself in was... bustling. While that was notable, what was moreso was the language, and the words of another explorer.

"Kabuchiko? This is Japan, huh? Never thought I'd see it like this again..." The Beastman seem to drift off a bit, perhaps to a different time, before he was Jubei of the Six Heroes, heck, before he was Jubei.

Granted, in all likelihood, this wasn't the Japan from where he was. Still, it was a bit nostalgic to be at least in one.

"Hey, wait up a sec, will ya?" Still, he should probably run after the whippersnapper who went off, in part before he got himself into trouble, in part because he wants to know what this place's deal is too. As such, he too went to the nightclub.

Sabrina, To The Key & Back Again

Once they had a method of transportation, they were off to get the key... and it was rather easy as well with a Tallhomer to guide them there and back. Somehow, Sabrina felt that things weren't quite done just yet... Well, outside the Disputer wanting to make a ceremony of it. She did retrieve her Pokemon and returned them all to Pokeballs once she got back as she considered the Disputer's offer.

"We do not mind at all, so long as the key remains in the Locksmith's possession until the ceremony," Sabrina looked over at the Locksmith. "If that is acceptable to you, of course."

Sabrina was at least concerned the Disputer might try to trick them, and felt that the best thing to do given the possibly of one of the Tower's guides opposing them was to put their trust in their own guide.

"Also, I want Tohch to attend the ceremony as well," Sabrina added. "Without her help, we would not have been able to find the key to this floor."

Third Floor - Minneapolis

Minneapolis raised an eyebrow as Ryo ran off. What did he call it? Kabuchiko? That was odd.

Before she knew it, the cat ran off after him as well. She hemmed and hawwed for a moment, considering her options, then shrugged. She was probably going to regret this, but now she was curious.

She casually jogged her way along, eventually entering the nightclub she had seen her compatriots entering - well, loose acquaintances, to be more accurate - and paused at the door for a moment. So far, no tails. Well, none that she thought were real at least. And no ships either. Just... people. Normal people. Taking a breath, she stepped through the doorway and entered.

"You're from here? What are you doing?" she asked Ryo, noticing he was hassling the locals for some reason. Her eyes strayed to the dance floor. All the flashy lights, and the people dancing. She thought for a moment about whether she actually cared about what Ryo was going to do to the local men and decided, no, she probably didn't.

So instead, she scurried off to the dance floor, working her way into a group of dancing girls.

Ilya - Third Floor(Nightclub) - Legal Supervision? What's that?

Ilya was no stranger to the city streets after being acquainted with it during her participation within the Holy Grail War, but the droves of people moving about late at night does surprise her, as does the many stores opening up.

She didn't get much time to enjoy the city night atmosphere as the others had suddenly decided to go off into a nightclub. "Ah, wait for me!"

You would think there would be people concerned about underaged children entering a nightclub... And you'd be right, as the bouncer standing at the entrance immediately stops the young homunculus from entering and inform that you need to be at least 18 to be here, albeit as gently as he could since he was dealing with a kid.

So here she was, pouting at the entrance and insisting that she is, in fact, of legal age to enter(even trying to use her Suggestion on him) to no avail. She had half a mind to summon Berserker and have him beat the literal sense out of the bouncer, but refrained from it.

Hmmm, maybe if there were many people entering at once, she could try to slip in while using her Suggestion to make it so that said bouncer's attention would not onto her at that time. At it stands though, she's waiting outside like a good little girl until a chance to slip by comes up.

Nightclub Third Floor

Seeing that there was a rather slight waif of pallid complexion getting roped into what seemed to be a rather... adult establishment altogether (the era might be different but she knew by scent what went on within those walls), Komachi all but sighed in a slightly theatrical manner before moving on after Illya to be a guardian for the girl.

Thankfully there was a bouncer that stopped the homunculus from outright entering but now that she was here... perhaps a bit of a sampling of the local delicacies were in order before they had to head back. Modern Japan was rather fascinating to one that came from the same country many centuries ago, with her homeland's great changes evoking a telltale sense of curiosity as well as bemusement in its entirety.

All in all, she stood out in this night realm of decadence not by being chaste but due to her overall sense of style being something that was very much antiquated in this day and age. A silken kimono of great make and material that would cost millions of yen in today's climate, along with perfume and paints crafted from only materials found in nature while unsullied by the advancement of factories and modernization... yes, this was a decidedly refreshing feeling of one that was old-fashioned and all natural.

A true Japanese beauty of high stature that deigned to sully herself the materialistic world like a lotus growing out of the mud. The sheer dichotomy was something that was rather delightful to the thrill-seeker as clashing paradoxical natures met head on to water the forbidden fruit for proper consumption. It was only when one could sup from the most interesting of circumstances could the experience bring about true pleasure.

Fluttering her eyes and drifting about the periphery of the nightclub guard with minute but all too arresting motions, a conservative but still somehow provocative gesture was sent out before a wink and a finger brushed near dainty lips that whispered something indistinct. Patting the now rather flustered pan on the shoulder most companionably, the youkai then swept on into the establishment proper with a sort of expectant calmness to her steps, as though this was something done so much in the past that it was now wholly natural to the woman known as Komachi.

Much like the spider that was her motif, one simply had to have a great deal of patience before prey could properly be hunted. Webs both great and small were to be spun, not all of them of obvious physical make. Mental traps were just as needed in this most lofty of pursuits, allowing for a filter that ensured for quality assurance before prime targets were set to be selected for the hunt.

Dead World Tower Top

Brow furrowing both from frustration as well as muted shock, the archangel commando paused while her mind churned to put pieces of the puzzle together before once more meeting the gaze of the autonomous cleaning unit, this time with a bit more grimness to her mouth's set frown. "What specific event happened in the past right before all the supervisors had disappeared?" It was probably something of a hard question, but there was no way to be clearer than this and thus the plunge was taken by the Morning Star proper.

Ilya - 3rd Floor(Night Club)

Fortunately for Ilya, a distraction came in the form of an enticing Japanese spiderwoman attracting the male gaze of the bouncer. Using this short window of opportunity, she immediately slipped passed them and now firmly finds herself within the establishment.

What caught her attention first were the many, many neon lights darting around and illuminating the place as though it was a lightshow. People were dancing wildly on the floor underneath a weird ball of mirror while others still settled down on glassed beverages and getting close to each other on seats.

Through them all, she could see the detective talking with a couple of gangster-looking types along with another cat person and the gum-lady on top of the stage with other lightly-dressed dancers.

Ohhhh, so it's a performance then! That looks fun! Tip-tapping her way onto said stage, the homunculus decided to join in on it, not realizing the odd gazes she's been getting from a few patrons wondering at who the hell is letting loose a kid in a nightclub.

Third Floor Nightclub - Minneapolis

Minneapolis managed to slide her way into some of the women on the dance floor, drawing attention both for her exotic attire, and because every now and then someone would step on her poncho and get tripped up by it. But the music was so loud and the club so poppin' that nobody cared about a little screaming and stumbling.

The lady who had been grilling food alongside her own deer roast entered the nightclub, and with her came a small amount of relief. Instead of the majority of men focusing on the women on the dance floor, this new element was able to divert some of that attention her way. As well as... oh right, the kid.

Someone probably should have remembered her.

But in her defense, most kids she knew carried guns and torpedoes, and were probably more responsible than she was, so it was understandable that it slipped her mind.

She escaped from a bumping and grinding session on the dance floor with some particularly inebriated patrons with a nod of the head, casually backed her way towards the bar where she grabbed a drink that was poured into a comically-tall metal cup, and then mosied over towards Ilya.

"I think Ai likes women with kids, give me a hug and call me mom and there's more bubblegum in it for you," she took a drink but then quietly whispered to the girl (or at least shouted quietly enough to be heard only by her), stealthily keeping her cup in front of her lips to mask the conversation. She gave a small wave over at the dance floor, and after a few moments a woman on the floor smiled and waved back. Also another guy a couple yards to the left waved back, but he was a moron and smelled kind of like garlic, so all he got was a stern gaze until he looked away, suddenly developing an intense interest in counting the number of grains in the hardwood.

Ilya - 3rd Floor(Night Club) - Alcohol Alert

"Mm?" That was an odd request. Playing pretend to be someone else's little girl? Ah, but that bubble gum offer was enticing since she has yet to conquer the challenge of making a bubble from them!

It's not like she ever liked her real parents anyway.

As if on cue, she turned around to face Minneapolis in obvious surprise before jumping forward to hug her, complete with rubbing her face close to the botegirl's body. "Mooom! Where have you been? I missed you!"

Tugging onto her poncho affectionately, she continued ."Hey, hey, listen to this! I've been trying to find you here but the guard outside won't let me and was being such a big meanie about! Can't you believe it?!" Pouting away about her frustration at the earlier dilemma, her eyes then turned towards the bar where many patrons were merrily drinking their cares away.

Her eyes then gave way to curiosity.

"Moooom, can you give me one of those drinks over there? People over here seemed to reaaally like it and I was wondering what it tastes like."

Ryo Saeba - Third Floor Nightclub

Of course, the sight of the female dancers caught Ryo's eyes, but he didn't enter the nightclub for that. His answer to Minneapolis was brief. "That's what I'm trying to know." He looked around the establishment until he finaly found a tough-looking guy that was the iconic stereotype of a yakuza. He walked over to the guy and poked him on the shoulder. "Hey, does the name City Hunter rings any bell to you?" The yakuza's only response was calling Ryo a shithead and telling him to fuck off. Judging by the lack of recognition and/or terror, that wasn't his world after all. A bit dejected from learning he still far away from, Ryo turned away from the man and walked away.

He imediatly perked up when he saw the onigiri-giving lady entering the nightclub. He gave his best smooth smile to the spider-woman. "Well, hello there. Normally, I'd say that's a odd ouftit to dance in, but I have the feeling your moves are a true sight to behold." He was about to say her name, before remembering he forgot something earlier. Feeling a bit awkward, he nonetheless continued to talk. "Sorry, but I haven't caught your name earlier. Could you tell me what is? Tough I'm sure it's as beautiful as you."

He noticed in passing that the kid somehow managed to entered the club and that Mina was pretending to be her mother. He wasn't getting anywhere near that. Last time he tried that strategy was a pretty painful memory.

Nightclub - Third Floor - Minneapolis

Minneapolis sat still in her stool. This felt a lot more awkward than she thought it would. But she lifted up a free arm to try and return the fake hug. It was more awkward than she had thought, but it was also less awful than she had expected.

"I've been... at work?" she tried to give a convincing fake answer to the fake question, but did she really even know what the hell humans did outside of a military base?

Minneapolis shrugged at the other question. She didn't really see the appeal of such watered-down fuel beyond its taste - if you could call it that - as it didn't have anywhere near the energy of real food, and an even smaller fraction of the energy that could be found in oil. She set her drink down on the counter and stood up. "Sure."

She fished around in her pocket for a piece of bubblegum - then thought twice and upped it to two pieces - and handed both pieces of gum to Ilya.

"Have fun," she said, and walked back to the dance floor, wondering if this ploy would bear any fruit.

Night Club Dance Floor

"Such a charmer you are. Why is it I get the feeling that this isn't your first time giving out such compliments?" Chuckling most merrily while holding a sleeved hand up in front of her mouth (it'd be even fancier with a folding fan but one can't be perfect all the time), the youkai then slightly shifted on her toes so that a half turn was done with both scarf and skirt fluttering about slightly. Despite how short the moment lasted, there was no doubt that everything meshed together into one graceful movement that showed just how natural the gesture was.

"I didn't have enough time to change from my regular outfit before this whole journey had happened and I doubt that the Ryo is an accepted unit of currency in this age so I had to make due. Luckily they liked what they saw enough that an exception was made by the nice gentlemen in charge of this establishment so here I am." It was with the calmest of smiles that the Monster admitted to using her high CHA stat to move on into the area despite not being a VIP, showing off the sheer utility of a dedicated Bard if one were to use tabletop terms.

Tilting her head slightly to one side with a finger on cheek, the ever amused spider woman couldn't help but let out a slight but drawn out 'hmm' as he asked for her name, eyes going half-lidded in a demure manner even as she got to work on indulging in social proclivities. "My name... is not worth mentioning for the most part but as you asked so nicely... I am entitled Ono no Komachi. A simple poet who wanders the world to seek inspiration for my art."

Jubei had his own struggles with the bouncer. Apparently people here were not used to having what amounted to a talking humanoid cat try to enter places, and while trying to hide the fact came at the realization that he lacked id. He ended up slipping in much the same way as Illya, only to be met with what the nightclub actually entails.

"Hm... the hell is this racket?" He took the whole place in, eyes darting at the lights on the floor. "Is this what youngsters listen to?"

He made his way to the bar, finding it easy enough to dart between the dancers.

"Some Sake please, if you have it, of course."

With that, he started drinking a bit, persuing the rest of the room. Seems Ryo was talking up the Spider Girl, and was someone calling the boat girl her mom?

Claw and Baron, Just Going Back

Eventually, their group began dispersing all over; some stayed at the Tallhome, some went downstairs to previous worlds they have visited. "Whatcha need ol' Gutsman fo', baby?" The towering and opulent presence made his way over to Alisaie with confident swagger. "Haven't seen no hair o' dat dawg on this floor yet. Guess dat makes da two o' us searching for him, huh?" He offered a golden grin and a thumbs-up.

Claw, for his part, looked towards the dead sea. "I think I'll stay behind for a time. I haven't had an opportunity to fish in a while. The sea may not look welcoming, but the sight puts at ease." Chuckling, and taking some time to procure some fishing implements, the pirate left to the pier with a raincoat and hopes for some catch. Even a stormy sea was a friend, in its own calamitous way.

Ilya - Third Floor, Nightclub

Yay! She must have done really well, to get two for the price of one which means more materials to practice on! Pocketing her hard-earned prize, she mosey herself up on Minneapolis' former chair, slowly inspected and lifted up the unfinished drink before starting to take small sips out of it...

...! Ew! Blegh! Bitter! How the hell do people even stomach trying to drink this?! One long glance at the other side of table was where she got her answer, where people drink it all up in one gulp instead of trying it slow like her. Hmm, maybe there's a difference in taste with how one drinks...

... Nope! Still terrible. Worse, it felt like she had the taste of roadkill on her tongue now! Disgusted, she flipped the glass on the table while making sure not to break it(no need to be that rude) before stepping away from the bar.

Lesson learned: Outside adult drinks are weeeeird. Or maybe it's their taste buds that's weird?

Hmm? That's odd. Why is the bar slowly starting to spin around? ... And is that a cat person? She only knows of one cat person, so that must be him.

Uehehee, time for a surprise greeting~

"Claaaaaww GET~!"

All of the sudden, Jubei would be struck by a miniature hugging missile strike in the form of an excited young girl aiming at him in mid-air. If not careful, said missile would threaten to make both him and herself stumble to the ground.

Regardless, the homunculus would look up at him with a flushed and confused expression on her face. "Waiiiit a sec, you're not Mishter... err, Caw was it, or..." Inconsistently mumbling at trying to remember the name of her feline friend, she gave up on it soon after. "Ah well, you look like a cat so you must be fluffy too~" That's where her eyes magnetically drifted towards his enticing-looking cat ears.

"... Hey, can I touch them? Pweeeease?" Without waiting for a proper response, her hands already reached out, trying to get a feel out of its soft and fluffyness.

Anybody looking upon the scene would be able to see that the young homunculus is, quite clearly, drunk.

Alisaie looked up as the Baron approached, the young elezen draping her damp coat over a railing and planting her hands on her hips. Her eyes narrowed somewhat at being called "baby", but the giant man was friendly enough that she was willing to forget she'd heard that.

Well, it was going alright, a bit of sake in, not too dehabilitating, but just enough to relax a bit, enough to let his guard down for just a bit. Which, of course, is when a white-haired missile collided right into him, knocking him and her to the ground.

"Well, no, name's Jubei..."

Caw? Was there another beastman here? Or something similar? "And, uh..."

Before he could respond, she was already grabbing and rubbing his ears, clearly having drank something she shouldn't have. While it wasn't the worst thing, and he wasn't making an effort to stop her just yet, it was still a bit difficult to respond to.

"Er... Miss," He found his words after a little bit. "Whatcha doing here? Aren't you a little young for a place such as this?"

Bladewolf (Tallhome)-Entering the nearest PC related conversation

Maybe Alisaie and the Baron had seen a newcomer, some mechanical looking hound, pop into the area, or maybe not. He hadn't made much of a fuss, quietly approached the Locksmith after scanning the area and asking a few brief questions.

Once he confirmed facts and determined that he was stuck here without a way out, he quickly determined that he didn't have much choice in the matter, and decided to treat this as yet another learning experence. There was the offered reward, but a human phrase came to mind. "Too good to be true". Besides, frankly, he had no idea what he would ask for if offered literally anything. Something to mull over....

But then he saw two people that looked out of place from the rest, concluded these were some of the fellow "Climbers" mentioned, and approched them, catching the tail end of Alisaie's comment about a man who apparently attacked the man who worked for their captor.

I am not suprised that someone attacked him. Frankly, I would be suprised more if it had been the first time.

The hound machine came to a halt in front of them, sitting back on it's back legs, tail idly wagging next to it.

Humans are, as a whole, irrational beings, and while logic would dictate that attempting to harm or kill the one responsible for bringing you here would be counterproductive, as they cannot send you back if they are dead, there are many humans who will fail to consider this.

He paused, looking between the two.

My apologies if I am intruding. I have just been brought to this tower. My name is Bladewolf, or just Wolf, if you wish.

Slowly, he lifted one of his front feet, extending it toward them.

Baron, Dat's A Dawg, Dawg

"Oh yeah, been sum time since dat happened." Baron shrugged ever so slightly - which for his mighty frame still made it a noticeable movement. "Brudda's got it bad for dem "higher beings", 'specially if they tamperin' in his life. He attacked dat lil' Miss Dracula too. Dunno if ya saw her." He was, of course, referring to the haughty Gensokyan they traveled with for a time.

And then a robot dog approached them. The magnificent opulence was elated. "Aw shiet, dat's a real robot dawg! Thought they jus' a Milvalen rich boy's toy; feels almost like home! 'sup, Wolf? Ya be speakin' to Da Blacker Baron and, uh... gotcha name, baby?" Here he turned to Alisaie again, realizing they haven't really introduced themselves to each other.
