America is there likely so we don't have the entire reveal after reveal pounding on us like piston. That's why the chapter feel especially fillers.

I would like to think that we really are trekking across the country for real and that's the point; we walk around Singularities so much that we develop Charles Atlas Superpower of extreme endurance. Remember in the Christmas event, we run at full speed from a horde of raindeermen while carrying Santa Lily, Jack, and Nursery Rhyme and we only stopped because we tripped on a rock. And later in Babylonia, we basically walk from Iraq to Persian Gulf in 3 days and return.

People seem to forget that America is where we first meet Merlin and learn that we have had allies helping us from behind the scenes. Plus, the whole thing with Rama and Sita as well as Nightingale, Karna, and Arjuna is absolutely worth it.

People who've never been to America or Canada have a hard time conceptualizing how freakin' big they really are.

When I was in college I had a friend visit from England. He and some buddies thought it'd be cool to travel across the States by bus.

By the time they made it to me they'd realized the scope of their mistake.

Well that's a first, Camelot is usually the part of the game people agree the writing actually gets sharp.

I just wasn't into Bedivere angsting about how he'd betrayed the Knights of the Round Table and so on and so forth. Ozymandias was a complete douche, but I suppose that's part of his character. The Hassans ...existed, they were kind of forgettable.

I did like the bits with Sanzang and Touta, those were actually quite nice. I think my main problem with the Knights of the Round Table is that with the buffs they got (looking at you, Rampage) and Siegfried kind of sucking against not-dragons, fighting them was just a slog and probably put me on the wrong foot as to liking them.

Merlin appearing in America is rather weird. Out of left field so to speak.

that's an... interesting take.

how could anyone hate bedivere??

or the story to camelot??

especially since, at least personally for me, the knights of the round table actually being difficult fights was relieving since otherwise FGO tends to be a boring easy slog of waves that are little more than time wasters.

having to think about how I'm gonna take down these bosses and figure out gimmicks was fun and got me to actually believe these people were the threats the story made them out to be

as for america, i will absolutely appreciate the set up it did for part 2, and cant wait to personally read up on all of that. i do really enjoy how the US's tie into all this alien junk builds into the lore and story.

I don't hate Bedivere, I just think that he went on too long sometimes. And the overall story is decent, just some of the individual parts are lacking in my eyes.

IT'S ROMAN. And yes he was, hardworking earnest and cute, of course he'd be a catch.

And man things went from zero to a hundred fast. Once I'm done with the prologue I'll check out the first node of the Apo event and Anastasia hen I'm going to bed

So, I just read the Mats of the Valkyries.

Was anyone else surprised when they mentioned Eric the Bloodaxe and how he had entered Valhalla?

Apparently, Thrud is in love with Brynhildr. I had my suspicions since she reacted the most emotionally towards her and once suggested to kill Sigurd. Sadly, I ship her with Jalter. So her Onee-sama belongs to another Onee-sama.

So, Brynhildr caused the decline of the age of gods in Norse mythology? I feel like there is stuff about the nordic mythology that has to be explored still.

I also wonder how Altera figures in. She is active both in the Völsungsaga and the Niebelungensaga. In both versions, Altera marries the wife of Siegfried/Sigurd and is the sister(brother) of Brynhild/Brunhilde. Maybe Brynhild/Brunhilde are one and the same? Which reminds me, in some versions, Alberich marries Kriemhild. In the Niebelungensaga, he is Siegfried's pal/slave. In the Völsungsaga, the ring that transformed Fafnir into a dragon belonged to Alberich. Loki took it from him and gave it to Fafnir, which cursed him and later cursed Sigurd and Brynhildr to live a life full of tragedy.

And that's without mentioning that Alberich is actually Oberon and thus the child of Ceasar and Morgan le Fey.

In retrospect, I find the Usonian Singularity a wasted opportunity given that Chaldea travels through Usonian territory back when it wasn’t part of the United States.

We could have had some Mexican, Spanish, French and Native Amerindian -aside from Geronimo- characters to help us out retake the Eastern Coast. And I won’t deny that Edison’s shtick in that Singularity has not aged well at all.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.

[up][up]She said something like that. So this is another Jeanne Alter situation.

...

Man, I miss Jeanne Alter, she had presence as an antagonist that none of the other singularity baddies managed to replicate. She was vicious.

I really don't get how Semiramis third skill works. It's only usable when there are 8 C. Stars or more, but the starts are absorbed by cards automatically, so there are never there!

No, they're there; you just need more than 8 stars at the end of a turn and you can use the skill.

I've never see anyone praise J Alter when she was an antagonist...pretty much the antagonists just start and end at the Lion King and/or Goetia.

Yeah, so now I find out you can retain the stars between turns and I don't know how.

Elisabeth is here. Again. And we actually call her out on showing up again. And she wants to become a Broadway singer. Before Broadway event existed. Of course.

Also her outfit is, in a sense amazing. She looks like she's wearing a multi-tiered cake. And I think the pig plushie at the top is reference to the nickname she gave to Hakuno.

Oh and her singing gives debuffs.

Man, Mash grew quite good at handling Sevants. Our little eggplant is growing up so fast. waii

And the next is "Red" Saber...umu.

Now I get what Robin ment about problem kids.

I've never see anyone praise J Alter when she was an antagonist...pretty much the antagonists just start and end at the Lion King and/or Goetia.

She was cool, intimidating and active, what's not to like? The antagonists in later Singularities haven't measure up to her so far, and probably won't until I reach Camelot

Jalter's prominence has various reasons, starting with the fact that she's the Warm-Up Boss of the singularities, has a good Freudian Excuse for why she acts and is actually pitiable when the reveal happens that she's not Jeanne's dark side but rather a copy of hers as envisioned by Gilles. She also has the bonus of being the first antagonist to have her character explored by the mangas.

Edit:

Also, as Shlugo has said, none of the other antagonists manage to be as interesting as her until Camelot, which is when the writing Takes a Level in Badass.

The less said about Septem the better, Jason was too much like Shinji at first to be anything but hated, the trio of casters in London don't even have that good of a motivation to act like they do and Cu Alter suffers from having the same origin as Jalter but being too tied to Medb to show his character properly.
