No they don't. The most you get is his real name. I kind of wondering if he'll make an appearance in 3; I feel pretty bad for him and we don't find out what happens to him after the Pre-Sequel thanks to him being a DLC character.

His real name is Timothy and he did it to pay for his student loans.

Mhm, maybe that's what the Handsome Jack mask in the teaser was implying while keeping Jack totally dead - Timothy's back.

...I hope so, the poor bastard didn't sound like he deserved the sequence of events that is him having Jack's face as he becomes the most hated man on Pandora.

Handsome Jack mentioned there "there are only six Sirens in existence at any one time." Presumably when Steele and Angel died, new Sirens were born elsewhere in the universe, but we don't actually know how it works. Maybe they still count, which would mean all six Sirens are on Pandora.

I'm pretty certain the Doppleganger gets killed in BL 2, during that mission in the big Hyperion city to kill Jack's doubles.

Handsome Jack is going to be a tough act to follow, but they'd have to put deliberate effort to have as poor of a villain as the first game. It had a villain, right?

I don't imagine any new Sirens will come to fruition.

So far: Steele and Angel are dead, Lilith and Maya are working together, and we have a new Siren with the other likely to be introduced later on. This wraps up nicely with the third and potentially final game.

That was a different doppelganger.

Not the same one from the Pre-Sequel.

Several things:

1. The resemblance is uncanny◊. Zane - who is the Operative or Assassin class here - could very well be August from Tales, who is a brawling gangster voiced by Nolan North that eventually sides with the heroes by the finale. Or his father, coming back to Pandora at last. Either possibilities work - a background in organized crime would explain why he's a stealth-focused character.

2. I...personally think Timothy might be the fellow with wild hair standing next to Aurelia. This brief theory elaborates. While we have no idea what happened to poor Tim after the Pre-Sequel and Claptastic Voyage, I think Jack did keep Tim in his employ. As a result, Tim's look had to be updated - I'm seeing a few resemblances in Wild Hair Man's clothing to Jack's. The aged look could be because Jack was pushing 50 by BL 2, once you unmask him. Other resemblances: grown-out hair, eyebrows, goatee.

Unlike what the tumblr theory says, though, I do think Jack did brand Tim after TPS, and he had to wear the mask too.

The body double in Opportunity was not Timothy, merely some unlucky engineer with a voice modulator and an SMG. The disguise fades away when he dies. Timothy was permanently and expensively turned into Jack.

3. It would be lovely if Flak was Loader Bot, with further upgrades to his body.

4. No surprise they got Rhys in. Borderlands already has such a great cast of voice actors. All they needed was the one and only Troy Baker.

5. God, it's only been several hours since the initial trailer, and I'm starving for more info. April 3rd, here we come.

6. At the cost of Rhys's upper lip, he finally got himself a proper tie.

As far as I recall, there were MULTIPLE Dopplegangers in BL 2 so they can just write him in as 'Didn't get killed in BL 2' for the sake of narrative convenience.

Also, Axton was canonically bisexual (confirmed in Bunkers and Badassess) and I believe Maya was said to be asexual entirely.

Honestly if you were gonna replace a Siren it be Steele since Her being one is treated very much like an afterthought

Angel you could easily just make her a Ghost in the Machine seeing that Her power was specifically making Tech like a part of her body

Hence why Jack says her brain is as big as the planet cause her Brain is the entire planets Ethernet and then some

I'm both not surprised and surprised they didn't reuse the Chinese designs XD

There are two kids shown in the teaser that might be the new sirens. And remember these are just the first reveals. Putting everything in the front is bad marketing. Especially now that there are so many characters to follow.

I can't wait to play Tales so I know who about 50% of the people being discussed are. The rest... maybe I'll have to replay Pre-Sequel.

Never got around to it for some reason, even though I've started the first 2 hours a couple of times.

It's amusing to see how completely and utterly wrong I am with small plot details. May as well not even played the game in the first place.

For all those of you who haven't played Tales: it adds so much to the story and world of Borderlands. Like how Hyperion internally works, and the Pandoran underworld.

Like, one bit I truly love is are two lines of throwaway dialogue in the later episodes, a major antagonist mocks the idea of an actual government and that people used to live under them, reminding us that the Borderlands universe is a Privately Owned Society. And how utterly different it is from ours.

By the way, more things:

1. If Zane is August, who I loved in Tales, I am playing as him. If he is August's dad, I am also playing as him first for the inevitable awkward "dad went out for cigarettes and never came back for the rest of your life" dialogue.

2. Number 1 is complicated in that Moze has a proper helmet and it looks quite like an M1 helmet too and if I can traipse around the galaxy in the best helmet of all time I will be a happy man.

3. Honestly, it would be very cool for August and Loader Bot to be actually Zane and Flak respectively. They didn't receive much expansion or coverage in TFTB despite being popular supporting characters, and having them as playable means that Gearbox acknowledges the game and the work that it's added to the story.

4. Play Tales seriously please if not watch an entire livestream, preferably with the nice dialogue choices that don't make your character an asshat.

5. By the way, I noticed something interesting with the BL fandom. Prior to the trailer, I distanced myself from it because they couldn't agree on what they wanted for the sequel. Now I've returned, there are a lot more people supporting Lilith over Jack, which deeply pleases me. The reaction to her losing her powers has been overwhelming shock and pity.

But years ago, Lilith was one of the most despised characters in the entire franchise following TPS, even though she threw away her level in Jerkass in a well-made TPS DLC. In fanfics after TPS, she was written as overly suspicious and paranoid, or even an antagonist. What changed?

One video noted that one of the shots of Lilith; she's missing her tattoos. And BOTH of these 'Children of the Vault' leaders that I'm pretty sure are our Big Bads at this point have Siren-esque tattoos or skin marks. The girl's are more traditionally Siren like, but the guy's are red.

The Borderlands: Origins comic confirms that Steele was a Siren until her death. Angel WAS one but is also now dead. Lilith, Maya, and Amara are the playable ones. Tyreen Calypso also seems to be more obviously one but...

Ok, hedging a bet here, but EVERYONE looks significantly aged up, yes? And these two seem to be fairly young. What if... Tyreen and... Troy? What if they were born around the time that Steele and Angel died? Could they be the replacements? Or, considering Troy's red-tattoos and Lilith's lack of tattoos in one shot, what if they can take a Siren's powers? Maybe Tyreen is a legitimate Siren and Troy is just stealing powers to take out the competition?

Yes, I agree. Tales is amazing. Particuarly since it explores the a Loot-Shoot setting in an Adventure Game format via characters that... Don't survive the loot-shoot setting. And are aware of it.

What happened with Lilith in the Pre-Sequel? I didn't play it.

You mean why Lilith got a massive hatedom?

I'd say the fact She tries to kill Athena for the reason of helping Jack Rise to power ergo Killing Roland... when if you look at the events, Lilith is largely more responsible for Jack turning into a psychopath, Athena, Nissa and Wilhelm were just the muscle that let Jack ascend to power... Lilith, Roland and Moxxi were the ones that sent him over the edge into villaindom and Lilith basically had the chance to kill Jack outright when she already thought him a threat but only scarred him out of spite.

I mean even if she dropped the pyscho bit in later DLC... thats the type of thing that kinda leaves an impression on people.

I don't know Steele and Angel died a good time span apart and the two don't look that different in age.

I'd lean more toward Tyreen is Steele's replacement /or its the young girl fist bumping Maya' and Troy is an artificial Siren after stealing Lilith's powers from her

I'm at least relieved that the mess has blown over. I've never liked fandom infighting or drama of any sort.

All the more stranger that I've seen mainly "Noooo don't do it to her Gearbox" in terms of the reaction to Lilith looking in such a defeated state.

Had this trailer been released a few years earlier, you'd see "serves her right" and nastier variants of that comment floating around tumblr and Youtube comments sections and subreddits.

On your note about Angel: I personally find her the prettiest Siren of them all. I miss her, but perhaps it was the only way to free her.

On the topic of A.I.s, perhaps one day we shall see Felicity again. If not, I hope she found peace somehow.

I'd like to think Krieg finally worked through the insanity and now he is... 'Saner' but still has the bursts of the over the top incoherent ranting but talks like his inner self now

Also, all I could think of when I saw Amara was "ORA ORA ORA" and "Jojo references have now entered the Borderlands franchise. Another one for the gold mine."
