I'm in an unfortunate position where I really really want to write something for this fandom, but I'm too busy writing other things at the moment. Sucks, because I've got some good ideas too (or at least I think so).
Anyway, I'm following your fic. I like it so far.
Nice, hopefully someone else posts stuff here too. I wanna check out stories by other tropers too.
Sadly, I'm not much of a writer these days, so I can't contribute in this regard. Just wacky pics.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I wouldn't personally object to fan art just because the title is "fan fiction", but that's just me...
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum.I still won't post updates on my fan art in a fan fiction thread.
Anyway, I'm still not much of a writer, is my main point. <3
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Hey, I just think it's nice this thread is actually getting some attention. I was a bit worried for it there.
I do have a pretty solid idea in mind, but like I said, it's going to be some time before I can start on it. I actually ordered "Zootopia: The Official Guide", a children's book, specifically because I was told it makes great reference material for fanfiction. This is how you know you are too deep into a fandom.
I bought it too. It was presented as a travel guide. It is neat! Don't readily dismiss it. ^^
I actually bought a lot of the tie-in books, mostly for art reference! Particularly for Judy's pink farm coat and blue shirt.
The only ones I didn't get were the Level 2 reader, and the Golden Books.
No offence to actual kids, but reading those latter books gave me a headache. I mean, are kids that age group supposed to be only comfortable with 3-5 word sentences?

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! This has been bugging me for a while, though this probably isn't the most ideal thread to ask this: Does anyone else write character reference pages with tropes? Like, create a pseudo-character page like you would see on this site? I've been doing it for a while and it just struck me how strange it was...
My fanfiction.net account, for those brave enough.I have a manual for my characters for my own settings. Though currently not in the TV tropes style. I have it in the King of Fighters-style bio where I list the character's description, height, weight, fighting style, likes, dislikes, favorite color, personality quirks, etc. No tropes.
But good idea. I might actually trope my own characters.
So if ever my webcomic becomes a reality when I'm not lazy, I'll just paste it.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I do something similar too, just with a bunch of bios on my profile page.
I don't use tropes. To be honest in most of my fanfics I don't even make little bio sheets XD
Might be a case of TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life, but I find myself incapable of seeing anything now without automatically thinking of tropes. This applies double to my own fanfiction. I don't think it really "ruined" my life though, just enhanced it.
I think it's a great tool for comprehension and planning of stories. Recognizing tropes allows you to compare and contrast examples from other media, so you get a sense of how to use the tropes more effectively.
My fanfiction.net account, for those brave enough.I think I mentioned this on the main thread before this one was created, but I've been trying to conceptualize how birds and reptiles would fit into the world of Zootopia. Here's my rough idea for the setting:
Two cities: one catering to birds, the other catering to reptiles and amphibians. Despite a great deal of similarities between the groups, there's a cultural divide. The birds, being primarily social creatures, have a society valuing extroversion and cooperation. The reptiles and amphibians, being much more solitary, have a society focusing on individualism and personal ambition.
As time goes on and the societies advance, more progressive members start to push for unification. Others reject the idea, some for more logical reasons, others out of ignorance or personal prejudice.
Overall, the Aesop would probably preach against xenophobia and promote the breaking down of cultural barriers.
Thoughts?
My fanfiction.net account, for those brave enough. So there are three cities now, there's birdtopia, reptile world and zootopia?
I think that superficially works, but reptiles and amphibians are solitary. Would a push for unification be disrespectful to them?
A potential story could be about the conflicts that arise from attempting this, but they settle their differences and end up forming the United Nations instead. Also they set up airports and roads to allow travel between their cities, and Zootopia gets expanded with a Birdtown and Herptown.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I'm sorry, but the name "Herptown" is hilarious.
Liztown? Scaleburg? Reptopia?
Shrug.
Well, whatever they choose to name it.
(I just realized it sounds like Derp.)
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! Also, herpes.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum. So I actually did get "Zootopia: The Official Guide". Yeah, it's surprisingly informative, with a bunch of random knowledge about locations not even hinted at in the movie. For one, Wild Times, Nick's amusement park from the original draft, is apparently an actual amusement park in the city. I also learned that fleas are a real health concern.
Still waiting on the official artbook, even though I ordered it like two weeks ago grumble grumble...
Scientists who study reptiles (Herpetologists) will get you for that.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Oh, I'm fully aware of the entomology etymology.
I like Scaleburg for it. Maybe Feathervale for the bird city.
I'll go with Wyndia, personally.
How about Duckburg?
I wonder if anyone is thinking of adding a Cold Open to their fics. I think it would work with Librarian's one, for sure.

Zootopia's only been out a few weeks, but the fan fiction scene is going strong, so I thought I'd start this thread.
My story, if you're interested.
