Arcade gave Eve a slightly watery smile as she touched his hand. "I'm glad to see you, even if it's just for a little bit," he muttered.
When Lewis spoke to him he quickly turned uncomfortable. "Yeah," he replied, sounding ashamed, "I hope I won't do that again."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."

Well. Implicitly designating Eve as a de facto little sister was apparently too forward. But why was Yoshika having the exact same reaction?
I blinked at the latter of the two girls, then looked back at the former. "Uh, was that too upfront?"
Arcade was embarrassed to be reminded of his shutting down at the worst possible time yesterday, as if that was somehow the stupidest thing anyone there did. I didn't want to comment on that considering I didn't have the right to judge.
Instead I held Eve up to him. "You're going, aren't you? Her foot's busted, someone needs to carry her."

Ben winced a little seeing her broken leg.
"Ouch," Ben muttered. "If my watch wasn't on cooldown I'd try to heal you with one of my aliens. But it is," he sighed. "I'm just glad to see you, Eve. I missed you a lot." He smiled a bit, blushing slightly, then he looked towards Thomas.
"Thomas, glad to see you too. I have something I wanna give you." He dug into his bag, handing Thomas one of the mirrors. "You were having trouble talking on the walkie talkie, with your magic messing up the tech, right? Well Miss Tairee gave me some magic mirrors so you can I can talk without all of that crazy stuff happening. Just grab the handle, and you and I can talk like we're on the walkie talkie, except no static. All right?" he explained.
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.
Arcade had no idea what a nii-san was, at all, so he just stayed quiet. He was exceptionally grateful that Lewis wasn't going to talk more about his very embarrassing attitude back in the mindscape.
When Lewis asked him to hold Eve, he nodded quickly. "Yeah, I can carry her," he said. He wanted to use a stimpak, but he remembered Eve telling him how much she didn't like needles. Instead, he gently lifted her out of Lewis's arms and held her up, unsure exactly what the claydol Lewis mentioned was.

Eve looked at Lewis. "No, I just don't know what it means," she replied with confusion. She recognized it as Jipang, and that was about it. She looked at Ben. "I was barely gone for a day," she said with amusement. "But I missed you too," she finished with a smile. When she got passed over to Arcade she just relaxed into his hold, and looked up at him. "We need to be touching Goldeneye," she said. "Unless you feel like walking to the library."

"You guys wanted to put me in jail" Rex explained simply. There was no point in arguing anymore because they had agreed to let him go but he wanted to make clear he had been backed into a corner to come up with the deal.
"Great, I swear I'll come back as soon as possible" he said, while picking up Fenris—he was on the heavier side—and built his wings to fly to the library. Before he could leave, though, Makoto managed to contact Silanea but she wasn't all that good at breaking the news to her. This thing required a little more tact.
"I know it sounds bad but don't worry, okay? Yuna is taking care of everything. I'm going to the library to deal with something and we'll figure this out" he told Silanea, and left the radio on to listen to her response. Something told her it was going to be big.
Rex finally took off while carrying Fenris on his shoulder and reached the library in very little time. He did accidentally drop a thing or two but the unconscious elf wasn't going to miss them, besides they would show up again eventually. It's not like there was something more important to take care of like a genocidal sorceress... oh wait.
Rex rushed into the building still carrying the elf and visibly sweating over how much he had strained himself to make it to the library as soon as possible. After gasping for a second and taking off his jacket to deal with the sudden heat, Rex left Fenris comfortably sitting on a chair. The fact that he was about to fall down was a minor detail.
With that out of the way, he walked to where Tairee was.
"Ok, I phew that must be some kind of record. I really need to stop skipping meals... speaking of, can I get some burritos?"

"Wait, you don't?"
That was weird. I'd thought if she knew hime-chi she'd know nii-chan. Guess not.
"Well, it's uh. It's this Japanese term...it's used to, to refer to an older sibling. An older brother specifically." The more I elaborated on this the more ridiculous I felt using the term.
"Oh, Ben." I pulled out my phone. "I lost your number after...y'know. You mind? Anyone else?"

However, she didn't.
"...It wasn't upfront, Lewis, but...I didn't know you were Japanese. That's a really foreign sounding name," Yoshika said, looking a little uncomfortable.
Eve pointing out the short amount of time she was gone caused Arcade to flinch in embarrassment, nearly forgetting how easy that would be for her to notice. Just a day— hell, just a few minutes— and he'd become a pathetic tantruming child.
"Right, Goldeneye," he said. There was a brief pause as he looked around, bewildered, then asked, "what's a Goldeneye?"

Ben watched Lewis hand Eve over to Arcade, then Eve pointed out the group of them should probably be touching Goldeneye. Ben nodded and put his hand on the Claydol's side. "Goldeneye is this thing," Ben pointed out to Arcade. He then raised an eyebrow when Lewis asked for his number again.
"Oh, right," Ben muttered, digging into his bag and pulling out his phone. He hadn't used the phone itself in quite a while, mostly focusing on the walkie talkie. Most of the numbers in here seemed fairly pointless now. He showed Lewis his number, then glanced back at Eve and Arcade.
"Her leg... what happened to your leg, Eve?" he asked, sounding worried at her.

Eve looked at Lewis, and simply nodded, not entirely sure how to feel about that. "Okay," she said softly. She laughed softly at Arcade's confusion. "Behind you," she replied, pointing in Goldeneye's direction. "I broke it," was her simple response to Ben's question as if it wasn't obvious.

"A god?!"
Qing's statement made Yuna realize a number of things. First, that Qing had been there for far longer than Yuna had thought. Second, that the librarian was a god, apparently? Like, a god god? Like the Shinju? And she was also a troublesome person...?
"She didn't look all that mean to me when I met her..." Yuna admitted, scratching the back of her head. "I'm sure you two just didn't get off on the right foot. Maybe if you talk a bit you two can get along just fine! But if you don't want to talk to her now, that's fine. Ah, Hibiki!"
She took a quick moment to approach her newest friend and grasped her hands with a beaming smile.
"If you want I can bring you one of the booklets from the library if you want!" she offered. "Also, you have a phone? I wanna give you my number so we can talk later."
"You'd be right," said Rick to Valentina, apparently unfazed. "Alright, well, if we're not going to - you know, if we're not going to actually try and bring our parties together to negotiate a, a, working ceasefire then I'm just going to eat picnic food because fuck it, at this point."
Rick grabbed over Morty's hand and produced a sandwich, which he tucked into heartily. Morty grabbed a slightly smaller sandwich which he quickly stuffed into his mouth.

"Hmph. I will have to see about this for myself. And if it's true that this librarian is in collaboration with the thing that brought me away from my home, then I will have to do something about it too" Valentina said, ignoring Rick and starting to march away towards the distant library, without waiting up for Yuna or anyone else to go with her. Though she was just walking. The red aura around her hand faded away, and her eyes returned to normal, but the shield remained.
"Oh? Well, that certainly would've been handy before. Thanks Ben" Thomas said as he took the mirror, and pocketed it somewhere in his robe.
"... Huh? But you said..." Louie scratched his head while looking at Lewis with great confusion, then shook his head. "Nevermind. Come on, let's get to the library!" the pokemon trainer called out, waited to let any last tagalongs get in contact with the pokemon, then told the claydol, "alright Goldeneye, teleport to the library!"
There was a flash of light, and then they were gone.
"For your protection!" Samson yelled after Rex in a protesting tone after Rex's comment about jail. The militia member then shook his head, muttering, "Aye yai yai, that kid."
The militia member in charge of the construction watched Rex leave, then looked back at Makoto and Anat. "Um... Shall we continue?" he asked, somewhat awkwardly.
The Miss Tairee at the central desk watched with one eyebrow slightly raised as Rex was messing around with his passenger, then continued to stare at Rex blankly until he walked up and made his request. "Rex, remember the pizzas? You might want to be more specific" Miss Tairee told him simply.
With a flash of light nearby, Goldeneye, Thomas, Louie, and the others appeared near the central desks, since that was the place in the library with the most clear standing space. Miss Tairee looked over at them for a moment, then looked back at her computer and tapped a few buttons. "Here for healing? Alright, come on up to the counter" Miss Tairee said, as with a blur the healing device she had used before appeared on her arm, and she prepared to casually heal up anyone who approached the desks.
"... What?" Silanea's voice muttered, sounding disbelieving and shocked, and was silent for a bit, probably thinking. "... Wh-wh-who?" her voice then asked shakily, sounding in turmoil of emotions.
Somewhere in the background as she spoke, Wells' voice could be heard saying, "Silanea?" in a concerned, surprised tone.

"So what are the odds that she gets put in a bubble?" asked Rick to the remaining picnickers as soon as Valentina was out of earshot. "Two-to-one? Three-to-one?"
"Guess - guess she's gonna get in trouble for actin' like a real... witch, heh, know what I mean?" said Morty as he tore into his sandwich.
"Heh, good one." Rick offered his grandson a celebratory fistbump.

Ben winced a little. "Yeah, I know it's broken. I was asking what happened that broke it," Ben asked. Before she could answer, though, Ben felt a jolt as the group was teleported from right outside the cinema, to the library. Ben blinked and looked around, then nodded at Miss Tairee.
"Eve's hurt," Ben told her. "Her leg's broken.." He sighed, glancing back at Thomas. "So when you get a moment, could you tell us what was going on? Sorry I blew your cover or whatever happened..."

"Don't wait up for me," Kokichi said to the library-bound group. "I'm starved, and it'd be a shame to let such a nice picnic go to waste. Good luck with your god-lady stuff, though!"
He took a seat at the picnic along with Rick and Morty, and scooped some random foodstuffs towards himself. "Soooo, you two came out of this weird portal, riiight? What's up with that?"
"Aww come on, you can't do this to me. Just give me a normal burrito. You already know what that means"
It had been the better part of two days and Tairee was still being difficult and playing dumb. Guess some things never change. Unfortunately the things that do are not always good, like the people that arrive to the city. Silanea took the news as well as Rex expected so he needed to show her everything was going to be fine.
"Just relax and sit down, ok?... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make a joke. Look, the woman is a sorceress, part of Tristen's group. I'm waiting for Yuna to update me on the situation but don't freak out, alright?"
Oh and speaking of people arriving to the city, guess who was the third person Rex met that returned after going back home? The hint is that she's a blonde little girl.
Rex looked back at Tairee, clearly not happy over seeing Eve again. Totally because the city was dangerous, yes sir.

Yoshika thought I was...? "Wh—no, no, I'm American," I corrected, restraining a chuckle, and saving Ben's number again. "I just know bits of Japanese from" (Vivi) "...anime, and stuff. Not enough for a real conversation, but bits."
For some reason this conversation was baffling Louie for what sounded like an entirely different reason, but he opted not to finish whatever question he started asking and just got on with the teleport.
Well, there they went.
"So..." I went to pick up the floran in a fireman's carry, making sure not to accidentally set her on fire. "We should move too, I guess."
I gazed at the theater for a few moments. "...You know, I made plans to watch a movie with someone a while ago."
I kept gazing a few seconds longer, and then turned around and glided in a random direction.

"I gave you my word, Ms. Qing. I will stay with you and protect you from those... those... horrible people!" Giving yet another 90 degree bow with the intensity of a karate-ka trying to break a set of bricks with their head towards the Touhou with stereotypical magical girl grit, Hibiki then raised a hand while still in that weird position towards Yuna to flash a thumbs up.
"I would love that, please! Oh, and I have a phone yes. Here's the number for contact!" Taking out her own smartphone and clicking through it, the girl then showed the numbers towards Yuna direction after finally unbending her spine with a smile.
Hangar
Silanea was not taking the information well, and since Makoto couldn't give her any more details, she let Rex handle most of the conversation after that. He carried the elf man out the hangar as he continued trying to calm down Silanea over the radio, leaving Makoto with the rest of the militia members. She sighed and hooked the radio back on her belt. Well at least there was a warning out now.
"Sure, I can keep going for a while," Makoto said with a nod. She went back to moving the smaller ship parts over to where they needed to be, while her Persona tried to take over for Rex's job as much as possible.

Sounds of footsteps came from upstairs as Chise and Elias and made their way down, both of them carrying with them a stack of books each. Chise in particular was having a few issues with the fact she had to carry the books and her staff around, but she was managing it well enough until she tripped on one of the last steps. Elias fortunately caught her before she could fall, but the books weren't so lucky and all crashed on the ground.
"Do be more careful, Chise." Said Elias, in a tone that suggested a mild scolding.
"Right... Sorry." Chise sighed.
After a brief time picking up all the books she had dropped, Chise began looking around the library and noticed Rex standing there. Curious, she moved towards her with Elias following behind her.
"Hello, Rex, have you helped Silanea with her problem?" She asked, her expression fairly neutral, although she was being as friendly as she could be.

"So I saw; that's why I offered healing" Miss Tairee first said to Ben as she was typing on her computer. Louie called out some of his pokemon to get topped off, but waited for Eve to get healed first before that, since she was seriously hurt. Then Miss Tairee looked back to Rex.
"Rex, even in your universe, there isn't just 'a burrito', so I still don't know exactly what you want. What do you want in your burritos? Beef? Pork? Chicken? Beans? Cheese? Hot Sauce? Salsa? Sour Cream? Something else?" Miss Tairee asked Rex, slightly annoyed. After his latter, one-word question, she just looked at him with a confused expression. "Why what?" the librarian stated simply.
Meanwhile, Thomas sat down on a nearby couch and sighed, leaning his head back. "Yesterday while I was small, I tracked the green woman, and I was going to call you on the walkie talkie like I said I would. But, then I heard her talking with the... Whatever he is. It was clear from what they were saying that they were listening to our channel too; if I said anything, I'd give myself away. I also turned my walkie talkie off, so they wouldn't hear it, then tried to find somewhere to hide and rest for the day's change, so they wouldn't find me" Thomas started to explain, grimacing a bit at the memory and muttering, "let's just say I didn't sleep well."
Thomas adjusted one of his shoulders before continuing. "Early this morning, I overheard that lady speaking; she was mocking you, because you sounded like you were about to cry on the channel. I was worried, so I snuck off to the roof, and that's when I first contacted you today" Thomas went on, shrugging slightly. "Then the two of them left that place, and I kept following them as discreetly as I could. They went to the theater, but they went into the back alley behind it, and the monstrous dude started using that glowy sword thing to carve into the back wall; I watched them while hiding on a rooftop above them. That's why I was trying to tell you about movies where bad guys were doing shady back alley stuff. When you called me later after getting to the theater, they realized something was up, and they looked around and spotted me. That's when the fight started" the young wizard concluded.
"Cool, then let's keep going. Wells said the next priority is the outer hull" the militia member in charge of construction said, and would continue directing Makoto and Anat unless otherwise noted.
"Oh... I see" Silanea's voice muttered, sounding like... Someone who wanted to think they were relieved by what they've heard, but actually wasn't.
After that was silence for a bit, then a different voice came on. "Rex, I had Silanea turn off her radio. You said you're at the library? How long are you going to be there?" Wells' voice asked.

Eve looked at Ben. "My foot didn't move. The rest of me...did," she said somewhat sheepishly. When they got to the library and Miss Tairee offered healing, she raised her hand. "Yes please." She would've walked over the desk except for an obvious problem. A really obvious problem. Except apparently to Rex, who's only reaction wasn't Eve-literally-has-bone-sticking-what-the-hell-happened, but instead was a question. "Nice to see you too," she replied to the question acidly. And by extension, its asker. A happy side effect, it seemed.
She listened to Thomas' story. "We really need a better form of communication. Possibly one more secretive. Also, did you see what they carved into the wall? It might be important. Or they might be framing us again. Either way, it might be good to know."

""It's okay," Eve reassured Thomas quietly. "Neither of us realised the effects. Let's just not do that again," she finished with a small sheepish smile. Then Arcade came over, and the smile grew larger. "Hello Arcade," she replied. "I didn't think I'd see you again either."
When he reached up a hand, Eve reached up with hers to briefly touch it, before letting it drop as Ben arrived. "Mostly okay," she responded. "Nothing that won't heal with time." She reached out to the shiny claydol, but waited for Lewis to put her down. Blinking, Eve tried to remember her Jipang Archipelago honorifics. Train occasionally called her Hime-chi, which she knew meant something like little princess. Kyoko called her -chan and -tan, and Eve had no idea what that meant. She just shook her head confusingly, and, much like Yoshika, said "Nii-san?"
