Sora was awaiting Ara's reply to his offer of help when Ben explained of this "Militia" group. They did sounded somewhat bad. How can you redeem a villain if you don't even try to help let their Light out? Just locking them away, or worse, killing them, doesn't solve a thing. Sure, there was a rare villain that needed to go away but Sora never actually did the final strike. The Darkness reclaimed it's corrupted heart. It was just how evil worked.

In this case, Rex didn't sound like a villain. He sounded like a man that wanted to do a good thing and found the bad way of doing it the only way. Like.....Riku. Sora made up his mind.

Looking at his fellow Knights, Sora said, "The Milita shouldn't do this to Rex. He's not a bad guy. He's just a person who made a mistake of not looking for everyone's input. A mistake that was formed by well intentions. Intentions formed by a good heart."

Looking specifically at Ben, Sora told him, "Remember what I told you earlier? About being a hero isn't about what you do but what you try to do? About having the attitude of a hero? Someone who loves to help others? Well, I'm sure that Rex doesn't want anyone hurt from this. In fact, I believe that Rex wanted to heal people. Wanted to give them a ray of hope while there stuck in this City. Does that really make him deserving of a arrest?"

Sora looked at Rex through the window and then finished up with, "I'm not saying that just making that deal without asking anyone else was a wise choice. I am saying that treating him like a bad guy without even waiting for the results of what he did is the wrong move."

Sora looked back at Ben and the other Knights. "How do you two feel about that?"

"If they only hurt people, they sound like bad guys to me. Why don't we put a stop to them?" Louie said, grabbing and prepping one of his pokeballs. He paused as Sora spoke up, and Louie looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "... Uh, honestly you've kinda lost me" the trainer muttered, a little confused.

"Louie, don't you remember what happened last time you tried to fight in here?!" Thomas then called from just outside the door.

Louie glanced back at Thomas, the young wizard's words being enough to make him hold off for the moment, but he kept the pokeball in hand and looked back at Ben, waiting to see what Ben had to say.

Meanwhile, Wells stayed silent for a moment and breathed out through his nose slowly. "... Rex, you know the librarian isn't going to be here all the time. You might be fine tonight and tomorrow night, but the night after that you're going to be a sitting duck in here Rex. And would you rather it be us coming for you to just put you in a jail cell, or those people at the stadium right now, about to start a riot, all because they're angry at you?" Wells explained to Rex, and stepped forward.

"And that's the other thing Rex. If we release news that you're in custody, that could sate a lot of them. We could stop a riot and cut it down to just the fringe cases" Wells continued, a bit quieter now. "So I'm asking you Rex, one man to another. Do the right thing and come with us now, and keep this from getting a lot more ugly" he said, staring right into Rex's eyes and seemingly judging Rex's very character.

Hospital

"A migraine is a bad headache" Martha answered Cole, then raised her eyebrows. "You know Dave? Ah, well I- wait, did you say you were shot?" she asked him, a little surprised.

The Bucket O' Sushi

"... If it wasn't you, it probably would've been somebody else" Silanea muttered after a pause, still somber and sounding a bit uncertain of what to think, but still not really angry with Fate. "I just thought that... Maybe I'd feel better if I knew you beat me for a good cause... You didn't do it selfishly for yourself, and, I guess that's the best I could have hoped for" she continued, still averting her gaze; she didn't sound like she felt any better.

Then she slowly turned around to start to leave out the door. "I'm sorry to have bothered you" Silanea stated simply.

Ben looked at Louie. "Hold off your Pokemon," Ben told the young Pokemon trainer. "We don't wanna cause another big scene here. Besides, you're just gonna get bubbled again. Sora's right. Rex isn't a bad guy. He's a hero too, just in a different way from us. He wanted me to use my wish to save Sans' world, and I might've done it too... I just felt that what I did was the nobler cause." He furrowed his brow and walked up to Rex and the Militia.

"Lt. Wells. Sir. Listen to me please," Ben stated, trying to sound respectful and polite. "What Rex did may have been bad, but he meant good things. He wanted us to be able to talk to the people we care about, the people who are worried sick about us," Ben explained. "Don't you have people in your world that miss you? You're a lieutenant, the rest of the soldiers back in your world must be freaking out. Your commander's probably worried sick. Rex meant well... I'm sure of it." He gestured over to Sora gently. "Hey, Sora, back me up here," he muttered, looking over at the Keyblade wielder.

"Yes...back on the day when the world was so dark and empty outside, and the demon attacked people. I was helping the militia try to stop it." His voice changed so abruptly it might have been jarring, close enough to Dave's to be familiar. "Two of them will have to be put on stretchers, which we have, so yes." He tilted his head to one side, closing his eyes. "...that was a very bad day."

Cole opened his eyes again, letting out a small sound of pain as he did. "I'm...sorry...I must be keeping you from something else...I'll go sit somewhere and stay out of...stay out of everyone's way. It was just too loud for me...I...I'll be all right, th-thank you..."

Despite that statement, he hardly sounded all right, as he lowered his eyes to the floor, a faint tremble in his voice as he spoke, as though he were barely staving off tears, and he just hugged the rabbit tight, all but nuzzling into the soft fur of it as though he could stay hidden behind it as he did.

Wells glanced down at Ben, and his expression eased a little, but it was clear he was still very serious about this situation. "Of course I do Ben, but I can't just think about me; and this isn't just about Rex, either" Wells responded, then grabbed his walkie talkie and turned it on, raising the volume so they could hear snippets of the militia members at the stadium trying to coordinate efforts to keep the crowd under control, with an almost constant uproar of the crowd itself audible in the background; the militia members who didn't sound angry themselves sounded panicked, frantic, or both. Wells let it go on only for a few moments before turning it off again. "We have a city full of people who are too angry and scared to be thinking clearly. And right now it's all directed at Rex" the soldier said, pointing at the Evo.

"Taking him into custody is our best shot at calming them down quickly; and we can keep him safe from anyone who's crazy enough to think that's not enough. Maybe after tomorrow when they have the chance to reap the benefit of his decision, they'll start to feel differently. But right now, so long as he's seemingly getting off scot free, I don't think that's going to happen" Wells explained, then looked back up at Rex with that judging expression again. "But I suppose right now, that's his decision" the soldier muttered in a low, very serious tone.

Hospital

"Hey now, it'll be alright" Martha said, lowering her voice as she seemed to think Cole meant literal volume. "We have a very quiet and very relaxing room you could sit in. Come on" she offered, holding out a hand; she would then lead Cole to the meditation room if he took her up on it.

Stadium - what a mess

Rex seemed convinced that Lucas would be wishing to help him too. Sans wasn't too sure about that but better not to argue about it.

The girl with them turned out to be the one that got shot at. Well, that was a little awkward. The dude who did it to her also pretty much wanted to cause genocide too, but against humans, great.

"uh... wow, sorry about that" said Sans, not even sure why he was apologizing to her.

Then the militia showed and told Rex to let them arrest him. Then Ben got involved too trying to defend Rex too. All this left one question in mind for Sans.

"ok, important thing to help with this decision: how long do you plan to keep him locked up?" He asked Wells.

Lily stared angrily at the scorch-mark on Morty's shirt. He wasn't her grandson, but she wouldn't let something like that go unanswered. "Who tried to hurt you?" She growled; there would be blood if she found them (on a day she could attack people). She threw Caro's finished sweater on top of Cole's; Sans would just have to wait for his.

I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."

Sora listened to Wells explanation and some of it made sense. How this was wasn't any one of his. How it was a directly aimed at Rex. But he felt that Wells was still wrong about something. Sora told Wells his thoughts with a understanding tone, "Lt. Wells, none of us are the bad guys here. I'm sure that your trying to arrest Rex to protect not only him but also the crowd from themselves. Me, Ben, and Rex here are not saying that what your trying to do here is not good or a safe thing to do........but I am saying that it's not the best first step."

Sora continued with, "You lock Rex away and you let this blow off. Great. Rex is safe and none is harmed. You have to ask though if that really leaves anyone harmed? What damage to the link between Rex and the people are here? Do you think that just arresting him will fix that? Do you want more tension to be built in this City? Because I know that I don't want that."

Sora finished with, "Rex deserves to speak his mind. To tell the whole City his reasoning. A chance to make up for what he has done. A chance to let himself prove that he was working on the mindset of having a good heart. A chance to let them," Sora points out of the windows in the direction of the Stadium, "decide if Rex deserves to be let go or to be locked up. Everyone is mad about something that they couldn't decide Lt. Wells. Wouldn't it be fair to let them make this choice? To let Rex make his choice on how he defends himself?"

Cole looked at Martha's hand for a moment, almost looking a little confused, before hesitantly reaching out to take it, carefully, as though afraid either he or she would be hurt by the contact. "It's...it's better now..." he said softly, though walking along with her willingly enough. "I put the amulet back on so now I can't hear them."

He looked down at his feet as they walked along, letting out a shaky sigh. "Everyone is hurting outside...scared and angry and desperate. There's nowhere safe...nowhere that everyone can go and not...not be hurt..."

There was a faint sniff, and he shook his head. "I was just trying to help...and it all got worse...it's happening again. I'm sorry..."

Eve shrugged. Being shot happens. Being shot seven times in a row, though painful, also happens. The others seemed to agree with her on not letting the elite get the wish, so that was good. Somewhere inthe back of her head, a stray thought about how Rinslet would react to Caro (with screaming and shopping sprees) was briefly considered, than filed for another time.

Much like Caro, Eve chose to watch the situation silently. She doubted that she would need to step in, simply because if there was a dispute, the llibrarian would settle it. She also rolled her eyes at Rex's ingenious plan. That worked for all of 0 seconds. Well done Rex. Well done.

Bucket O' Sushi ~ Just Thought I'd Ask

Fate had expected the snake woman to be at least a little angry she lost to someone who didn't even understand what it was she was working towards. As it turned out, the snake woman seemed to be content with the fact that she wasn't doing it for herself, or at least didn't get any more unhappy about it.

As she turned to leave, Fate at first went back to reading. Then, a thought occurred to her, and she looked back up at the woman.

"My familiar is currently working to make us dinner," she said, "You could join us, if you'd like...?"

Stadium

Sans came from a world that was literally dead at the hands of some... thing? No wonder Lewis wanted him to wish for this. It was what Porky was trying to do back home. If Lucas had been taken here before he stopped them, he would definitely have used the wish to fix it. His mother might not be happy if she was brought to life at the expense of everything Sans knew. She always told Lucas to be kind. A kind person wouldn't ignore this.

It was still an endlessly difficult thing to resolve in his heart, to the point that he started crying a bit. After thinking for a few moments on the best way to say it, Lucas, sobbing, said back to him "You mean... his w-world was ended? If... If I was taken to this city even 30 minutes earlier... my home would be like that. But... I saved it. There's only two things... two p-people I could use the wish to save back home now. But those t-two are more important to me than anything else. But I just know... they'd be unhappy if I saved them at the expense of an entire w-world... C-Claus d-died... in m-my arms... for my w-world. I... I d-don't think h-he would want me to l-leave... another one... d-dead... just for him. I'll... I'll...I'll help Sans." By the end of his statement, Lucas was practically sobbing full force. This was like having them die all over again, saying he'd leave them dead for Sans.

The Library — Thanks but no thanks

As expected, Wells still tried to convince Rex about how it made sense to put him in custody. There were a lot of people angry at him right now and putting Rex in jail would not only protect him but also calm people down. That hardly seemed fair.

"And put me in prison? Marcus, Jackson, Yael, that Rega guy, and apparently Mary are running around the city and you want to lock me up?"

There was also the problem of the militia not being enough to deal with the challenges even on normal days.

"Besides, if the challenges are as bad as you think, you are gonna need every bit of help you can get and, I don't like to brag, but I was kinda built for that"

Ben surprisingly backed Rex up by bringing up the benefits of said reckless decision and Sora even pointed out that Rex should be given the opportunity to verbally defend himself.

"Yeah, Sora is right. I can give those hacks in the news station an exclusive if they really want to"

"Good intentions or not, I doubt many of the people currently panicking over an extra round with the lobster or those slashy villains are going to listen until things settle down a bit. Even if Rex don't need their protection, working with the militia might help that" Curly said in the general direction of the group around Rex as she carried her stack of books back toward Miss Tairee and set them on the desk "Sorry, Miss Tairee, I know it's bad timing but can I get something to carry these in?"

Stadium

The sky started to turn orange, then Lucas then blurred and vanished.

Over the announcement speakers, Miss Tairee's voice could be heard making a simple announcement. "Ladies, gentlemen, and other, the day's competition is now over. The final match will take place in the stadium in a short time."

Score screens around the city

The view of the top three scores went away, and was instead replaced with two simple white words on a black screen: 'Please wait.'

Library

"She's right. You expect them to listen to you right now Rex? You really think if we put you up on a soap box they're just gonna be quiet and hear you out?" Wells said, referring to Curly and mostly in response to Rex, but also somewhat in response to Sora's statement. "And given your display of intelligence so far, I don't believe you have a speech just ready to go. We put you away for a day, that gives them a chance to calm down and you a chance to work out a script" the soldier added, also in reference to Sans' question of how long they'd put Rex in jail for.

"Yael? The crazy suit guy with three fingers and glowy eyes? We have him in jail already" Samson then pointed out. "Found him yesterday and he was being... Unresponsive" he explained, folding his arms.

"Arguing who's more deserving of going to jail doesn't change the fact that right now you're the person people most want to see lynched, Rex. And we can have this go easy with you cooperating now, or we can have it go ugly in two nights" Wells then continued, getting almost threatening now, but still mostly just talking like a man in authority stating facts. "This isn't just going to sweep under the rug, Rex" he muttered, eyes narrowing a bit.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee glanced over blankly at Curly, then tapped a few keys on her keyboard. There was a blur on the desk and another bag of holding appeared in front of Curly.

Then, her computer beeped twice, and she looked at it, then sighed. She typed on it for a few moments, then spoke up. "Rex Salazar, I'm sorry to say that you've come in third place and lost your chance at the wish. Here is your consolation prize" Miss Tairee said aloud, as with a blur a pale blue t-shirt sized for Rex appeared on him; on the front in black letters it read, 'I got taken to another universe and competed for a wish but lost and only got this lousy t-shirt'.

Then Miss Tairee continued typing, and Caro blurred and vanished from where she was standing. At that same moment, with two blurs near the central desks, Caro reappeared having been moved only just a bit across the lobby, and next to her Lucas appeared having been brought from the stadium. Miss Tairee was staring off at nothing and her mouth was moving as if she was talking, though no sound came out. After a few short moments, she then looked at Caro and Lucas.

"Congratulations, you two are the final contestants" Miss Tairee said, her tone still neutral though her face looked a little somber. She then focused on Caro specifically. "Caro Ru Lushe, as your opponent has no choice but to accept whatever challenge you decide on, or else forfeit his chance at the wish, there are two simple, additional rules to this final match. Whatever challenge you choose must be something he is actually capable of doing; and you may not force any rules that are explicitly unfair in your favor, such as a foot race where girls may run but boys must hop" the librarian explained to her.

"So, what will your challenge be?" Miss Tairee asked Caro.

Hospital

"Amulet?" Martha muttered, just a little confused as she looked at Cole, then a little nervous. "Oh, you're one of those, magical folks or something? I'm sorry, I'll have to get Dave to help you dear" she added with a nervous smile, as she led Cole into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

"You don't have to be sorry dear, just stay calm and it'll be alright" Martha told him as the elevator climbed up to the top floor and eventually opened again, then she led him to the meditation room.

The Bucket O' Sushi

Silanea paused in the doorway and turned her head slightly. "... You'd do that for me?" Silanea muttered, then sniffed the air a few times. "It does smell good..." she continued with a weak smile, turning back inside and slowly slithering over to the table.

"... But, I wouldn't want to intrude if you'd rather be alone" Silanea added, folding her arms around her waistnote  and turning her gaze off to the side.

Lewis - Stadium - look who made a child cry again woops

Well. That wasn't supposed to happen.

Maybe frontloading a young boy his age wasn't the brightest idea in and of itself, but to hear that Lucas had had a near-brush with the destruction of his whole world himself just before he got here and that he'd be sacrificing a chance to save two people he cared about more than anything doing this, all topped off by him sobbing this information out made for one large slap in the face to the tune of 'what the hell did you just do'.

But...it was for a good cause, and he was willing to do it, if as hesitant about it as I'd been this morning. That meant it wasn't outright wrong to do this, right?

Was today just the day of tears? First the Silanea lady, then Ara, almost myself, Eve and now Lucas. I didn't buy that there was any active intent to start up...most of these sorrows but god, no wonder Ben ended up bitching out the Writer over live radio.

I moved to try and comfort him, masking the fact that I was starting to tire of comforting people all day, but before I could do anything he was gone.

So. Barely a moment for him to think about this, and already it was time.

I took one last glance at the crowd, still in the same uproar as it had been for the past few minutes, and bolted straight for the library.

Library - woah there

Seeing how the current discussion was going in circles, Sans felt like there wasn't much to do about it now. Not only that but the final challenge between Caro and Lucas was gonna start soon. With that in mind, it was time to get out of the argument.

"sorry rex, i don't really know what to do about this whole thing, i'll try to figure something out later." Sans then looked at the shirt that showed up on Rex and upon reading it, he let out a chuckle. "nice shirt by the way."

He then moved over to where Caro and Lucas were, the latter was... crying for some reason. He didn't really know how to deal with that seeing as he barely knew the kid, so he just put a hand on Caro's shoulder.

"uh... have fun, and good luck," he told her in the most supportive tone of voice he could manage.

He then moved away to let the two of them decide things and happened to go closer to Miss Tairee's desk, where he noticed the book Curly had next to her and immediately saw what was shown in the cover. What was she doing with that?

"uh, curly..." he said as he approached the robot girl and took a closer look at the book, "why are you carrying this?" He asked, not acting suspicious, but simply unsure of what to think.

Sora heard out Wells and at that, Sora felt ok. Rex wouldn't have a speech at the top of his head but getting everyone to understand that Rex should get the chance to do so was what Sora wanted. Sora took position next to Ben. "Look, Ben is right. The City Knights want to keep the peace just as much as the Militia. That's why I think we can work together here. You want to calm down the crowd but you also want to arrest Rex. We both know that Rex doesn't want go," Sora looks back at Rex with a apologetic look, "No offense Rex." Sora looks back at Wells. "And there's just not enough Militia to be split between keeping Rex safe and keeping that crowd from becoming a riot sir."

"That's why I'm offering to have me and Ben help to keep the crowd under control. As for Rex..." Sora turns around to face Rex. "Rex, we all understand why you did this. None of his are acting like your evil. But tell me Rex. When all of those good people come looking at you, hearts full of rage, do you want to be the person that has to face them? I mean, you can only run for so long and what then? We both know that you don't want to hurt anyone. And that's something good. Being built to fight sometimes means understanding when you have to stand down. To let others help you. I still believe that you should be allowed to defend yourself but you have to find that strength first, you know?"

Sora stands sideways, placing his attention between the Lieutenant and Rex, and says, "So why don't we all calm down? Wells, instead fo acting like Rex is a criminal that needs to be handcuffed, maybe instead acting like he's a citizen who needs some protection? And Rex, instead of acting like Wells is going to imprison you for life, maybe instead try to recognize a man who is trying to protect good people? Both you and others? What do you two say to that?

Sora grinned at both, hoping to defuse some of the tension.

Cole grimaced a bit at entering the elevator, but he just tightened his hold on the rabbit, trying hard not to squeeze Martha's hand very tightly as the doors closed. He'd ridden in an elevator with Sawyer...it wasn't that bad. The doors opened at the end. He hoped that was always true.

"I...I-I'm not magic...I'm a spirit..." he said softly. "I...it is...hard to explain." He just sighed softly. "As long as I am wearing the amulet part of my powers won't work. I...I think that may be safer for everyone..."

He let out an audible sigh of relief when the elevator did open again, quickly following Martha off, eyes going wide as he looked around the meditation room she led him too. She had mentioned getting Dave to help him, and that things would be okay, so long as he stayed calm. ...he wasn't sure if she really meant that or if it was one of those things people said sometimes to try and make things better. He hoped she meant it.

"Th-thank you...I...I will stay here, then..."

He seemed a little reluctant, but drew his hand back from her's, hugging the bunny again, and wandering into the meditation room, looking around at the variety of sights and things that were inside, though not with any apparent curiosity...just more or less scoping out his surroundings.

Abel - Arts N Crafts Store - wtf

"Cocaine?" Abel thought aloud. Whatever, that didn't matter right now. He noticed the monster was getting angry, but not at them. Instead, she was angry at whoever attacked the kid. This should have been enough proof that the monster was not hostile, but Abel somehow looked over that as if was a foot tall and focused on the angry part. Who knew what this thing could do? It could probably eat them, or skin them, or worse; make ugly sweaters for them. He calmly approached Lily and stood beside Morty. "Listen, we don't want any trouble," he said, putting his hands up defensively. "Just give the kid what he wants and we'll go."

Library - Impasse

There seemed to sound arguements for both sides of this debate on wheter it would be better to lock up Rex for his safety as well as getting the angry populate to calm down. However, there was another important side of this that none was, at least explicitily, seeming to consider.

As such she finally spoke up, "I think it is important to realize there are bound to be people that are not going to be easily, if at all, appeased. While it is likely that a good deal of people might calm down once they can reap the benefits of this decision, there are others who won't, because they can't. For people who have no one left to even contact, but are gonna to suffer through the consequences of this with the rest anyway ... It is just gonna be a bitter reminder. Their anger will fueled by sorrow and loss and there will be probably be little to nothing anyone can do to dissuade them ..."

Just as she got done with that, she was suddenly yanked over to the center of the library, along with Lucas, apparently coming from elsewhere. She got it was possible that neither of them would be there already, but was that really necessary in her case, given that she had been closeby already?

She listened to the explanation of the additional rules and carefully considered it. Since she didn't know enough about Lucas' capabilities to reasonably guess at it, it would be to talk this to find a fair source of competition on the first try rather than getting stonewalled and having to try again or worse ... However, another, more immediate concern came over her when she noticed that Lucas was crying. She would have to deal with that first, not only just of concern for his well-being, but also because it wouldn't be fair to throw him into a contest in such a state.

While she was thinking over all this, Sans came over to give her some more support. In response, she nodded, flashed him a warm and simply said, "Thanks, I will," as he then appeared to go over to Curly.

She then moved over to Lucas and while putting a hand on shoulder, said rather concernedly, "Are you OK? Do you need to take a few moments before all this to calm down? And, uh, what would be your abilities that would work for this?"

Arts n' Crafts- Miscommunication

"If you still need help finding things, I'd be happy to oblige, dearie," she offered, already standing and collecting the sweaters in case they ran across Cole or Caro. She figured Sans would understand that his sweater was going to come a little late. The poor boy clearly needed a bodyguard more than the skeleton needed a sweater.

Oddly enough, someone else seemed to want to take that position. However, he wasn't making much sense, and Lily was not good at comprehending things, even on a good day. "I'm sorry, but I can't keep making sweaters right now," she told Abel, "Morty here needs someone to protect him. Though you can help me if you want."

Arts and Crafts

"Hm I mean -" Morty trailed off as an idea formed in his mind. "... yeah! That - that might work, if-" That was when Abel stepped out of the shadows, completely misinterpreting the current situation.

"Woah - woah - woah-" Morty just about cut off Abel as the guy stood next to him. "Lily's okay. I - uh - sh-she just - she just gets - look, it's all cool, okay? I - I mean - we - we're gonna go and - look for something. I think." There was an awkward pause.

"You can come too I guess. If you - if you want."
