1 are you still taking players?

2 On dual characters I think I understand the limit but tell me if I got it wrong. For example, from Nasuverse the duo of Rin Tohsaka and Ruby-chan would be fine as Ruby is very annoying living weapon but Rin and Archer would be exempt, correct?

We already have characters with familiars in play, so you should be good on that particular pair. c: Unfortunately I am not a GM, so I cannot answer the first question.

• Name: Ryu Hayabusa
• Age, gender, and species: Early 20's, Male, Human with demonic ancestry.
• Appearance:The Ultimate Ninja

• Personality: As a ninja, Ryu ruthlessly kills his enemies without mercy, executing them in a very cold, technical and calculative fashion. His rigorous upbringing in tandem with the many hardships and tragedies he has suffered has forced Ryu to harden his emotions and disciplined his skills to perfection. He is undaunted by the lives he must take in order to protect the balance within the world, knowing that the balance of the world is more important. He is perfectly willing to kill those that can be considered his allies if it means that balance will remain protected, although he will not take any joy from the task.
  • Ryu knows life following the ninja path can be both cruel and short, especially for one of the Dragon Lineage. He has already felt first hand the brutality of this life; watching Kureha, his best friend murdered right in front of his own eyes and his clan massacred. Ryu endures these hardships with his unstoppable will, an indomitable spirit shown in his exploits as he overcomes every challenge and obstacle. Though Ryu cares little for his enemies' well being, he still respects them on a warrior basis.

• Backstory: Ryu Hayabusa was born the son of Joe Hayabusa, a powerful and skilled ninja and leader of the Hayabusa ninja clan. Ryu went through vigorous training as a child so he could perfect the ninja arts and become a deadly warrior with time, a friendship between him and the shrine maiden, Kuhena would blossom into a one-sided attraction.
  • Ryu's first real test came when he was 18 and ventured off on his own to stop a cult in America from summoning a Devil King to prove himself to his father. After successfully stopping the cult by taking out their leader, a descendant of Nostradamus, Ryu's mission was complete. One year later, however, Ryu again had to travel back to America to defeat a crazed dictator who had overtaken New York City. He successfully felled the dictator and his allies and promptly returned to Japan.

  • Two years later Ryu was entrusted with the Dragon Sword when his father, the original owner, went off to train in the wilderness. Soon Ryu is summoned to visit his uncle at the Shadow Ninja Fortress, and after killing several attackers to meet his uncle, he finds out that his village is burning. Ryu returned to his village to find it under attack by Doku, a Fiend who he is unable to defeat and quickly vanishes after stealing The Dark Dragon Sword. After seeing his best friend Kuhena and family die, Ryu sets off to find and destroy Doku.

  • Eventually, his path pits him against a supreme deity named Vigoor and its followers the Vigoorians, Ryu invades the holy empire of Vigoor and a race against time before they can resurrect Vigoor with the power of the Dark Dragon Blade starts. Ryu is helped along the way by Rachel, a Fiend Hunter.

  • After reaching a temple, Ryu finds out Rachel has been kidnapped by Doku as a motivation for Ryu, Ryu soon finds Doku and the two warriors have a rematch, after a long and grueling battle, Ryu wins their duel but a curse is placed on Ryu by Doku at his dying breath, should he not defeat Vigoor he would soon turn into a Fiend.

  • Ryu sends Rachel away for her own safety before entering hell itself to battle against Vigoor, where he unlocks the power of the True Dragon Sword, light and dark square off as the True Dragon Sword clashes with its counterpart, now wielded by the resurrected and demonic Vigoor, after a long and grueling battle Ryu stood victoriously, his clan and best friend avenged...

  • Or so he thought, as the whole event was revealed to be orchestrated by his uncle Murai, who wanted the Dark Dragon Blade to reach it its full power and so he could surpass Ryu's father, Ryu and his uncle had a final grueling battle, ending when Ryu impaled his uncle after he turned into a Fiend, Ryu then returned to home and started the arduous task of rebuilding his clan with the help of his father.

• Skills/powers/abilities:
  • Super-Human Agility: Ryu is able to move much faster than a normal human, outpassing even Olympic athletes by a large margin, and his reflexes are immensely sharp, being able to cut an arrow in mid-air.

  • Enhanced Strenght: Ryu is strong enough to use a 100 lbs scythe without much trouble.

  • Enhanced Durability and endurance: While his durability is only slightly higher than a normal human, his stamina is several leagues above, Ryu is capable of fighting even after being stabbed, although his fighting abilities are impaired.

  • Ninjutsu Master: Ryu is called the ultimate ninja for a reason, he is an expert at stealth, acrobatics, hand-to-hand fighting, and marksmanship, but the field he truly excels at is...

  • Master Swordsman: Ryu is an exceptional swordsman, being able to take on multiple opponents at the same time and defeating demons in one-on-one combat.

• Ninpo: Ninpo is the spiritual arts of the ninja, allowing the caster to manipulate the very laws of nature, in contrast to Ninjutsu's martial arts. Ninpo requires intensive meditative focus to master, as well as secret instructions to initiate them which are usually found in ancient scrolls. Ryu has mastered many of these Ninpo Arts like:
  • Art of the Fire Wheels: Ryu focuses his mind on spiritual waveforms around himself and focuses his Ki energy into the waveforms, creating fire wheels that encircle him. This is mostly a defensive ninpo used as a shield in the heat of battle but also has a very important function: entrapping large enemies with the fire wheels by latching on their limbs, resulting in constant damage to them and have a low energy cost. However, they're easy to break free off and do fairly low damage. Their other strength is the fact their low cost means Ryu can use it multiple times in a row
  • Art of the Ice Storm: By manipulating the atmospheric conditions around him, a vertical whirlwind of ice emerges encircling Ryu. Most enemies caught in this Ice Storm will be frozen in place as ice shards repeatedly pierce into them, stronger enemies can and will break free and the freeze effect is only temporary, its range is also rather short, this technique is used mostly for crowd control or as a distraction. It has a mild impact on Ryu's stamina when spammed but is fairly low cost otherwise.
  • Art of the Wind Blades: 1-3 sharp waves of vacuum are created and amplified as Ryu moves his arms at extremely fast speeds, they then radiate outwards in the directions Ryu swings his arms, slicing like swords, they are rather weak when compared to the dragon blade, so any material that can't be sliced by it won't suffer any damage from them. They expend a considerable amount of energy and can't be spammed too many times in a row.
  • Art of the Inazuma: Amplifying the bioelectric currents in his body, Ryu is able to quickly charge up electricity in his body, which is then blasted outwards as lightning striking all enemies in the vicinity, this technique suffers from a long recharge time and is very costly to Ryu's stamina.
  • Art of the Inferno: Focusing his mind, Ryu creates flames that envelop him and then uses his telekinetic ability to control these flames, launching them as a powerful fireball. This technique has a medium impact on Ryu's stamina.
  • Wall Running: Ryu manipulates the bioelectric currents in his body to be able to stick and run on the surface of walls.
  • Doppelganger: This is Ryu's ability to create a Shadow Clone of himself that mimics his moves and aids him in battle, while its offensive power is equal to Ryu's, he is so fragile a single hit is enough to destroy him and can't use Ninpo techniques, it also takes a very long time for it to recharge, making it a solo use trump card in battle.
  • Transformation: Ryu can transform into a falcon, the animal that symbolizes the Hayabusa clan.

• Items:
  • Dragon Sword: Ryu Hayabusa's signature weapon, said to be created from the fang of the now extinct Dragon Deities and containing their souls and strength. It is sharp enough to cut through steel and is also extremely durable.
  • Strong Bow: A composite Bow made during the Medieval period in the Vigoorian Empire, the Strong Bow is more powerful than the regular bow and cannot be pulled by a human of average strength.
  • A Kusarigama, 2 Tekko Kagi claws, 25 Shurikens, a quiver of 20 arrows, and 6 Kunais and some rope for them, what? you thought Kunais are weapons?

Other: Ryu is a professional shopowner, specializing in selling useless antiques to dumb gaiji-I mean tourists!

@Orig PL 3: Sorry, yesterday was a very strange and in some ways stressful day for me, and I forgot about your post after initially reading it on my phone. Anyway, I'm not sure why you and other people are confused about whether or not the RP is open, seeing as I have a large, bold, and capitalized disclaimer at the top of the first post clarifying that we're open.

As for your question about duos, I'm not familiar enough with your specific examples to say for sure, but that sounds about right from what info you say here. I don't really have any better way of clarifying who would and wouldn't qualify other than what's already in the first post about it.

@ANGRY_DEMON_NOISES: I'm not directly familiar with Ninja Gaiden so I'll have to consult a friend or look up info myself before I can say if your sheet is inaccurate. Greco-Roman day is still going, but I guess I can technically allow you one character switch for it.

But accurate or not, Ryu would need some major nerfs to be acceptable. Primarily to his speed and strength, and to his sword being able to cut through metal so easily. He can be fast and strong, and his sword can be good, but not to that extent. If he was at that level he would be able to fight pretty much the entire rest of the player characters, teamed up against him, simultaneously, and still win easily, which is nowhere near an acceptable point for a single character to be in.

Edit: Changed his strength to only using a 100 lb scythe without much trouble and his speed to arrow dodger, the sword can still cut steel but not like butter.

I don't like hard set limits or overly specific examples because I don't think that meshes well with the free form nature of the RP. Also any limit I did set I might have to change later, so not having one in the first place makes that easier.

The one set thing I've decided on so far is that no character can be so fast that a normal human would be literally incapable of reacting in time, so definitely slower than "faster than the human eye".

In balance, yes, but like I already told you I can't confirm the accuracy yet. You'll have to wait until later tonight or maybe even tomorrow until I have that information, sorry.

Edits don't trigger the watchlist so it's only by happenstance that I even noticed you did that. As for what you have stated on the sheet, there are significant problems and things to clarify if I'm to take exactly what you wrote at face value.

How does the fire wheels entrapment work? Is it something that can be dodged and avoided? Because anything that can't be dodged or avoided is pretty much against the rules.

The ice storm can't guarantee to freeze its targets in place; that would be against the rules.

The wind blades can't slice through literally anything; that would be against the rules. Also, the whole "lightning fast speeds" was kind of already addressed.

What's the limitations on using the doppelganger? Being able to pretty much double his offensive output at any moment would be way too broken if he can just spam it at will. What's the limitations on using all of these abilities, for that matter?

The wall running is fine though.

You still didn't clarify any limitations of use on the first three Ninpo abilities, and you still have the ice storm breaking the rules when taken exactly as written. It cannot guarantee to freeze anyone, weak or strong; you are not allowed an attack that is completely 100% impossible for someone to deal with.

Anyway, I have now read through Ryu's trope entry. While the chronological order of the games seems to make no sense to me, it seems like your description of his personality and back story is more or less accurate, though also pretty sparse on details. It seems like you mostly only listed the feats that he accomplished by way of finishing the respective games, and as such it reads more like a cliff notes or even just a kill list than an actual idea of what sort of journey he's gone through; granted I'll admit that it seems like that's not an entirely inaccurate way to perceive him as a character, but still.

As for his personality, I would think it worth mentioning that he seems to be ruthlessly merciless to an extreme. Not bloodthirsty per se, but once he's decided someone is an enemy he's basically also decided that he's going to kill them no matter what; like the time some mercenary dropped their weapon and begged for their life, citing a wife and kids they wanted to return to, and Ryu responded by bisecting him. He's also apparently killed tons of ninjas from friendly clans, as part of training.

Then for items and abilities, there are things you seem to have left out of the sheet; I'm wondering if it's on purpose to not have to balance so many things. Makes sense well enough for items at least; he could have just not had them on him when he got brought to the city. There's some kind of bladed nun-chucks, that scythe that you mentioned as an example but didn't actually include, and multiple other various swords though disregarding them for redundancy is perfectly understandable.

There's also abilities that don't seem to have any mention on your sheet. This includes more Ninpo techniques like: "Fire Phoenix", "(True) Inferno", "Fire Dragon", and "Piercing Void". Also, apparently Ryu can transform into a falcon?

Those items and techniques are kinda too OP, the piercing void is a fucking black hole that can one-shot most of the bosses, also I thought the "Ruthlessly kills his enemies" part covered the mercenary and friendly ninja clan thing.

Okay, I'll admit it would cover the mercenary example, but no, "ruthlessly kills his enemies without mercy" does not actually make it clear that Ryu is also perfectly willing to kill people who are, ostensibly, his own allies. That's the part to really stress there.

It's also worth stressing that it's not like he does it for fun or the hell of it, but it's still worth bringing up that that's something he can and has done.

Added that, so, does it look okay now?

Everything you did change looks fine now, but you also didn't even acknowledge some of the things I brought up. You didn't make any comment on what I said about his back story, or about him turning into a falcon.

The falcon part is kinda weird but I'll add it anyway, so you want me to elaborate more on his backstory? fine I'll do it.

I didn't necessarily want you to add it; at least acknowledge it and explain why you would choose not to add it. If it's something like Early-Installment Weirdness that was later retconned or didn't fit with the current canon, was technically an alternate continuity, or whatever.

It's a power he has, it kinda still exists but he doesn't use it much, the backstory...I think I don't know how to elaborate on it without making a nine-page book, Ninja Gaiden's shitty timeline makes it super hard.
