What is this trope even about?
That's a good question. It's really an appearance trope more than anything, and that in and of itself is a problem if there's no critical or in-universe highlighting of the helmet's cool factor.
How the description begins: "Helmets of all shapes and sizes."
That's not a good sign.
That's a discussion for the Appearance Tropes Long-Term Cleanup Thread.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Noted there.
The way I see it is this trope is more about cool, flashy and unique signature helmets that really stick out. They are connected with their characters so much that it is at least part of the merch.
Many helmets are their one defining feature like say Honda Tadakatsu who's antler helm was so flamboyant that he was easily spotted on any battlefield, which got carried over into fictional appearances such as Samurai Warriors[1][2]◊
Edit: taking this to that thread.

I'll go ahead and give this a votes bump; two in the green, one with consensus.
Actually we might as well put a hold on this till the projects thread finishes, it's going to probably get a huge rework and such to where several of the options are just not examples.
I don't know, Celty is 5-6 votes ahead and we went through all this trouble, we might as well just add it already, I doubt we will find anything better even if the trope gets reworked.
Well the suggestions so far are to emphasize 'iconic', most of them are that with that one exception, her being without the helmet is her iconic thing quite literally.

If I think Celty, I think that helmet, and I don't think I'm alone in that. It's iconic enough.
Check out my fanfiction!I think we should run with the decision we make here. If the trope is extensively redefined we can worry about it when or if that happens.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"We've come this far, might as well finish this and wait for the other thread to fix the trope.
The results in the crowner didn't change for over two days so i added the image.
So, should we add a caption?
Edit: Oh, i only saw 57.1 now. Too bad it wasn't suggested earlier, i would have loved to see it as part of the crowner.
Alright, this is good enough, send the topic to the morgue maybe?

Aside from a listing of the characters, I don't really see a need for a caption, especially with the possibility of this trope getting revamped down the road.
EDIT: I see the list has already been done, so I un-noted it.

Detailing the characters in the caption works.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"With no further caption discussion forthcoming, let's lock this up.
