Our bodies exist within the three dimensions we know and love, but all we know about how thoughts work is that everything is a chemical reaction happening within our nerve cells.

The reality though might be that whenever we take a look at our brain, all we see is a three dimensional slice of the fourth dimensional object known as consciousness, like how we currently view MRI scans as a series of 2D slices of a 3D organ.

Things like deja vu occur because our minds have seen it before, not being bound to the constraint of time.

Adrenaline enhances the connection between our 3D brain and 4D mind and allows us to see things closer to that of a fourth dimensional being. Just a bit closer though, within the limits of a 3D being.

Proper term is 3+1 dimensions, not 4. 4 refers to spatial direction, 3+1 refers to 3 directions and 1 time.

If this were true I'd be able to remember the past from before I was born and the future, something nobody has demonstrated.

While past life regression therapy has a bad rap thanks to "cryptoamnesia" that can occur while hypnotized, there's a lot of anecdotal evidence supporting the possibility of reincarnation as reported by children under the age of 6. However, there seems to be a cut-off around 7 years when those [memories] fade.

How many people can remember what they ate for lunch as short as a month ago? It's the highs and lows that stick with us, so who knows if those memories would just boil down to being picky about certain foods as a kid. Then there's memory suppression as a result of trauma, which we know of from injuries that are all less extreme than losing your entire body. And what if memory loss from a disease like Alzheimer's or Dementia acts as a reset, preventing memories from passing on before death, because there aren't any. Anyways, there are far too many unanswered questions about the phenomena, because openly studying it means being branded as a nutcase by the scientific community.

As for consciousness, it definitely has electro-chemical aspects to it, as the brain can be directly manipulated by electricity and chemicals; but whether or not consciousness is directly dependent on the brain and/or something else entirely has yet to be discovered. Seeing as light can now be used to make 5D materials, and that the human body radiates infrared light; maybe in the future there will be tools to analyze the body in 5 or more spacial dimensions. The Other Wiki also has an article on ectromagnetic theories of consciousness.
