I searched for a tropes page for this and did not find one. Also, I only saw on forum entry as part of a larger Anime of 2015 thread. I do not feel qualified to make a page - I was wondering if someone familiar with the novels/stories it was meant to be based on would have a go so I could learn something.

Anyway, I got to see the first two episodes today. I found it intriguing, mostly for the artistic gruesomeness. The "human behavior" aspect of it struck me as "Everyone in this is insane." Just, utterly not-normal responses... the most normal person was the young teacher with the princess-dress and the cat-ears (who knew just when to scream and jump out the window).

I actively wondered what preservation and/or taxidermy practices went into the chairs. I also wondered if somewhere, someone made non-murder related replicas (out of vinyl or something). Super-creepy.

Using the subtitle for the thread title?

So, it's alright. I think the main strength is the surreal tone

Not sure familiarity with the original work matters— by all accounts it's not "based on" so much as "Inspired by…"
