Careful — the Yuria questline is one of the more complicated ones and very easy to screw up.

Not sure what's going on with Onion-bro in your run. I always met him and killed the Fire Demon long before visiting the Cathedral. I didn't really have too much trouble with the Fire Demon encounter since Onion-bro tanks blows like a champ in that fight.

It's too bad if you did mess it up — you miss out on one of the limited number Titanite Slabs needed to max upgrade a weapon since he gives you one late in his questline. There are still quite a few others in the game though, especially if you have the DLC content.

I'm going to try and see if I can find Siegward near the well or Patches in the Cathedral - apparently you can meet Patches as long as you haven't been to Rosaria's room yet, which I have no idea what that is or how to get to it in the Cathedral so I'm pretty sure I haven't been there.

Also, I forgot to mention it since I was caught up with the Siegward/Patches thing, but I beat the Abyss Watchers. I like the music and the Watchers' lore and characters but I think it would have been better if the fight started off with the one superpowered Abyss Watcher after you make it through the initial phase the first time. It's a bit much to be expected to deal with them and THEN fight him afterwards. You can wait for them to kill each other so you don't lose any Estus (which is what I did mostly), but that's not that fun IMO.

EDIT: Siegward was in the well. I got Patches to spawn by getting the Fire Keeper soul in the tower, and I had already beaten the Deacons, so I guess it messed up the order of the questline a bit. I heard it's still kinda buggy if you don't trigger it properly, but I just bought the armor from patches and gave it to him anyways.

The first phase isn't so bad, especially if you summon an NPC phantom. Black Hand Gotthard is pretty good against them.

So which weapon did you decide to craft using their Boss Soul? On my first run I went with the Farron Greatsword just to try out the unique moveset. It was fun, but if I had to pick again I'd recommend the Wolf Knight's Greatsword instead. Both are particularly good against a few later bosses I mentioned earlier due to them being Abyssal type.

Fun fact — there's apparently a way to lure the Darkwraiths into the boss room to fight the Abyss Watchers. The Darkwraiths will demolish the Watchers.

I can craft Boss souls now? I wasn't sure that I could do that yet, since you always needed to find a special npc or blacksmith in the first two games and I don't think i've found them yet for this game.

Also, it looks like I missed the chance to get Kirk's armor. Pity, but I'll live.

You have to kill a certain boss for a key item, the Transposing Kiln. You then give it to Ludleth (the little guy on one of the thrones). He's the one who transposes Boss Souls into weapons and spells.

Assuming you've been playing normally, you should have already killed said boss. It's the boss of the area before the Road of Sacrifices, the Curse-rotted Greatwood.

Killing the tree also gets you its Boss Soul, with which you can craft either a poison spear the Hollowslayer Greatsword I mentioned before. I recommend the Hollowslayer since it's a good Quality-Dex build greatsword with a good moveset and it does extra damage against the most common enemy type in the game: Hollows. And as I mentioned before the bosses of the two DLC are both Hollows.

At this point you should have Vordt's soul (which can make either a powerful Strength weapon that does Frost damage or a ring that heals hp if you manage to repeatedly hit foes in a short amount of time) and the Deacons' soul (which makes an abyssal sorcery or a weapon that functions as both a sword and a sorcery catalyst) as well.

Oh, so that's what the rotwood fight was for. I'll see if I can find him.

EDIT: Sure enough he's there. I'm guessing he was here the whole time but I just hadn't explored the place properly. That seems to be happening a lot lol

BTW if you "accidentally" kill Ludleth (you monster) he'll respawn the next time you appear in Firelink. So you won't accidentally screw yourself out of the ability to make Boss Weapons or Spells.

He'll also be traumatized and have nightmares over you killing him. You monster.

The other NP Cs who won't stay dead are the Shrine Handmaiden shopkeeper, Andre, and the Firekeeper herself. The Shrine Handmaiden gets annoyed and raises her prices each time you kill her. Andre is rightly pissed and outright refuses to do more work for you until you go to the game's obligatory Velka statue to cleanse your sins. The Firekeeper shrugs it off much like the Maiden in Black did.

So High Lord Wolnir was pretty easy. I was kind of scared because of how intimidating he looked, but he turned out to be a breeze compared to the Abyss Watchers. I beat him first try. I have to say his intro cutscene with the chalice was really cool though.

I also finally noticed that you could turn the stray demon's soul into Havel's Ring. I jumped on that shit instantly.

I've also finally got the proper stats to use the Executioner's Greatsword and I gotta say I'm digging it so far.

Wolnir's kind of a gimmicky boss. Not Bed of Chaos bad, but still annoying. He's arguably the easiest boss in the game, but it's still easy to die to him if you're careless and stray too close to his death fog.

The Executioner Greatsword is nice if you like using Weapon Arts due to its ability to restore FP after a kill. The only downside is that you can't infuse it (make it Sharp, Heavy, Refined, etc.). Presumably because adding a Simple infusion (restores FP gradually) would make it a Gamebreaker.

So uh, it's cool that Irythill Dungeon is a throwback to Latria but I honestly preferred the latter. Better atmosphere IMO. Irythill proper however is real neat and one of the best areas in the game so far.

I actually heard Yhorm was something of an unsatisfying boss way back when the game came out, and I have to say that yeah, I preferred the Storm King fight in De S as well.

I don't think Soulsborne has ever topped Latria for sheer atmosphere.

Yhorm is pretty easy, but if you complete Onion-bro's quest it suddenly becomes an epic confrontation (though it's of course even easier).

What's not to love? The huge fuckoff watchdog that spews lightning and tries to eat you? The bullshit knights with their Frost damage? The bullshit fire spewing Witches? The invisible slaves? The creepy ass centipedes?

The one good thing you can say about Irithyll of the Boreal Valley is "at least it's not Irithyll Dungeon".

Seriously, screw the Jailers.

[up]I was just thinking that - NOTHING in DSIII comes close to how much of a pain in the ass the Jailers are. At least with most of the other enemies in Irithyll you can beat them without taking any damage through sufficient skill, but the Jailers? They're EVERYWHERE in Irithyll Dungeon, and one of them WILL drain a ton of your health, no matter how careful you're being.

Though, that one peculiar unarmed Ghru who face-humps you to death in the Farron swamp comes in at a close second, if only due to how gross and annoyingly persistent he can be. Thankfully he typically hangs out by himself, away from the other enemies.

Oh wait, I've got a third candidate: that one enemy in the Ringed City who has a turtle shell and can self-heal while under it. Not terribly difficult when alone, but he's an absolute menace if paired with the Ringed City Knights.

The biggest issues I had were, I think, the Ghru face-humper and the spectral host in the Ringed City. Those guys SUCKED.

It's been fun.

The jailers are the worst enemies in the souls series. The only ones that come close are the winter lanterns and maybe the salamanders from DS 2 since they're near impossible to fight in melee. The gatekeepers get flack for their "infinite stamina" but contrary to popular belief they do have openings.

The Millwood Knights from Ashes of Ariandel are also kind of a pain in the ass, especially that one on the tower with the bow. Though it is at least somewhat satisfying when you beat them.

Though I gotta say, nothing is as annoying as those damn poison shooting statues from DS II.

Surely the flies weren't that bad? And the trees were a bit bothersome but for DS 3 standards were okayish. The coneheads who like to snitch to their buddies on you were annoying but manageable. The vikings or whatever those big black dudes were hard though.

The flies were pretty bad for people who don't respond well to the buzzing of insects, much like myself.

Gameplay wise, they weren't too bad, though the way they can gang up on you can be trouble.

The trees were kind of a pain at first for me. I had to craft a Fire Longsword to make them easier.

The jailers are obnoxious but I only really found them to be bad in that one infamous room in the dungeon where for whatever reason From decided to put like a dozen or more of them clumped together. Like seriously what the fuck? To be honest it wasn't even that bad to get through but I'm just sitting here scratching my head wondering why you would design it this way.
