My random, different guesses on Cassandra:
- She's possessed, probably by one of the Disciples of Zhan Tiri (maybe even Gothel), and has been since the mansion.
- Much like Eugene, she's discovered she's the descendant of someone important: but unlike him, she's descended from Zhan Tiri or one of his disciples (maybe even Gothel).
- She's a sleeper agent (I can't remember if this is exactly right, but isn't she adopted? I don't think the Captain is her birth father), and she was "awoken" in the mansion.
- I think this is much less likely, but it's still a possibility that she's been Evil All Along and has been planning this from the beginning. She is the one that led Rapunzel to the rocks in the first place. But again, I do doubt it's as simple as that.
I have to say, I'm starting to like the idea that Cass is either the descendant/daughter of or is possessed by Gothel (or both) the more I think about it. After all, Gothel also told Rapunzel not to trust anyone.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Another possibility is that this is something that happened gradually. There have been numerous times where Cassandra felt that Rapunzel's wants and needs came first, and her own came second. Going all the way back to that season 1 episode where Cassandra entered that contest, and Rapunzel did too. Then Cassandra puts her life on hold to go help Rapunzel search for her destiny. Then getting her hand hurt because of Rapunzel. It could add up.
But obviously whatever was in that door played a part too. Maybe it showed Cassandra a vision of the future or something.
One last thing (at least for now). First Rapunzel finds out her "mother" was actually evil, and lying to her her whole life. Then, her friend Varian turns evil and tries to kill her. And now her best friend Cassandra turns against her. It wouldn't be surprising if Rapunzel started developing trust issues.
It makes one wonder if the writers had developed a "1 traitor per season" quota.

It's definitely not an Evil All Along thing because there was no foreshadowing for that - the only foreshadowing for Cass' face-turn happened after she went into that room in the mansion, so whatever happened in there was clearly a turning point for her.
It wouldn't be surprising if Rapunzel started developing trust issues.
I think she has them already. She said that even though she knew in her heart that Eugene wouldn't betray her, she still desperately wanted to hear it from him in his own words before she could be set at ease. That indicates certain trust/betrayal issues.
Ugh. Sounds like some cool stuff is going on.
Based on "Waiting In The Wings", I don't think Cass is out for good.
Wish I could actually watch the series. Bah.
If you're willing to pay, you can watch this way: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=EL56AF2TnYOCDoRxrFwStD-w
Of course, that may depend on where you live.
I'm not sure I'd buy that, because even if Cassandra did come to hate Rapunzel, she would still have no reason to want the Opal. There's something ulterior going on, no matter what.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So we have Super Sayian Yellow and SSG Blue with Cass. Who will be SS Rose?
Mileena MadnessI feel that if Cass was acting completely on her own will, there wouldn't have been a reason for her to smile all sinisterly in the previous episode? She'd just be cold and distant from Rapunzel, I guess. But the sinister smile seems very OOC for her. Too overtly evil, I guess.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I don't think Cassandra hates Rapunzel. I think she's just tired of being Rapunzel's sidekick (I feel this was displayed in the "waiting in the wings" song). Whatever she saw in the door probably convinced her that taking the stone was the only way to fulfill her own destiny, instead of living in Rapunzel's shadow. Although she might resent Rapunzel to some degree.
Of course, its also possible Cassandra is possessed or something, but that would be a cop out.
Apparently a season 3 title is "Cassandra's Revenge."
The Protomen enhanced my life. We've known that for ages, I think, but the current context makes it way more ominous now than when we first learned about it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Sign me up for the "Cassandra is Gothel's daughter" train.
Heck, she even looks a bit like Gothel.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI haven't caught up with the series since midway through season 1, yet Youtube keeps on recommending me Cass spoilers. Even the official Disney channels spoil the twist.
Maybe they're hoping the twist will get you to start watching again.
So would Cassandra count as a Heroic Wannabe? "Challenge of the Brave" and her "I Want" Song in "Rapunzel and the Great Tree" and her desire to claim what she considers her destiny in that season finale kind of paint that image.
Disgusted, but not surprisedCould be, maybe. It depends on what her actual reasons are for taking the Opal. Before this point Cass really was a hero, and now she's fallen but we don't really know why.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Cassandra was heroic, but she was never The Hero. And that's what she apparently wanted.
Basically, it seems like she wants to be the Main Character, rather than being a sidekick to Rapunzel.
Disgusted, but not surprisedShe doesn't have to be The Hero to be a hero, and she was pretty competent at heroics in general.
A Heroic Wannabe is someone who wants to be a hero but ignores the fact that they don't know what they're doing, ignoring warnings and making things worse. That could be the reason she's nabbing the Opal, but it could easily not be. We don't know what her goals are, or really anything about this, so we can't say so yet.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I finally caught up with the show. I really enjoy it! It's probably my favourite Disney cartoon in recent years. Are there any news on when season 3 will be out?
I'll just post this clip from the end of season 2, for anyone who might want to see it. Spoilers, obviously: https://youtu.be/dMxJzJyU6MM
Any expectations for season 3? Would anyone be interested in seeing anything beyond that, or should season 3 be it for Tangled?
I think season 3 was confirmed to be the last one, though I might be confusing that with something else.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I think it was confirmed the series is supposed to have a full, three season run, basically getting two in advance.
We know that Varian had a crush on Cassandra. Maybe now that they're both evil he actually has a chance.
