"I'm just taking precautions..."

The figure looks at Skull Kid for a good while, shaking his head and raising an eyebrow.

Then, he stares at Shinki, crossing his arms.

   There is a difference between a defensive shield and summoning tentacles to fight.   

The Skull Kid remains cautious of the figure, due to the seemingly cosmic nature of the figure. The mask continues to glow ominously.

"So... I must ask," Shinki began, with her shield remaining up, "Who are you?"

   ...Metavis Xrelthyn,    the figure simply says, his staff disappearing into specks of light, akin to stars in the night sky.

   Who are you two?   

"Shinki."

Tatl and Tael float out from behind Skull Kid and address Metavis.

"I'm Tatl and this is Tael." Tatl explained to the figure while gesturing to the purple fairy.

"And this is Skull Kid..." Tael muttered.

   So I was mistaken... nice to meet you four, then.   

Metavis bows politely, before standing up straight, placing his hands behind him, and the air behind him becomes almost like space, complete with stars and nebulae.

   What is with the Skull Kid's mask?   

Despite the fact that the mask is wooden, it seems to blink at it's mention.

"We don't know. One day, Skull Kid just found it in the woods and he's been attached to it ever since. He found it before we met him."

Shinki is quiet.

   I see... and it just blinked.   

Metavis' eyes narrow at the mask, and he soon looks at Shinki.

   So, what are you?

"Eh? Does it really matter all that much?"

"But, if you must know, I am a youkai."

The mask's eyes begin to shift about.

   Youkai... a mystic apparition, then. 'Spirit' is another fitting term, albeit a broad term.   

Metavis tilts his head at Shinki, and the constructs behind him shift about a little.

   Did you come here to destroy?   

He turns his attention to the mask, noting its eyes changing, and he taps his foot.

   Do you speak?   

"No, not at all."

The mask shifts it's eyes to stare at Metavis.

"Skull Kid doesn't really talk." Tatl says.

   Good. I am not expecting to come into conflict with you, then.   

Metavis begins to float in the air, looking back at the mask, then glancing at Tatl. The air around him has turned completely dark, and is rather like a miniature galaxy surrounding him.

   I see... I was wondering if the mask could speak.   

"The mask...?" Tatl asks, confused.

Skull Kid begins to hover, reclining in the air. The mask glows.

Shinki notices the glowing mask, and looks at it.

   Something about it gives me the impression that it is sentient, although I might be mistaken.   

Metavis begins to float higher in the air when Skull Kid's mask glows, and he holds out his arms, two small star-like orbs materialising above his hands.

The spikes on the sides of mask begin to grow into long tentacles. A large shadow appears on the ground. The moon appears above them. It's surface has a large grinning face carved into it's surface.

   What do you want?    Metavis asks, once again, the star orbs floating by his hands now starting to grow larger...

The two fairies rush in between the two figures.

"Woah Woah Woah! There's no need for any of that!" Tatl exclaims.

"Hey! What's the problem!?" Shinki floats in next to the two fairies.

Skull Kid dissipates the large moon above them and teleports away from the others, pulling the fairies with him.
