"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So I went to GameStop today and apparently the Mario Maker 2 pre-order bonus is a keychain, not a stylus. Possibly the stylus is just a UK thing, or specific to GAME, but I'm hoping it's a keychain that's also a stylus. Still, they also gave me a free bobble pop, which is, uh, something.
Ukrainian Red CrossThe stylus is both a Europe and Japan thing.
It looks like America was stiffed out of a cool preorder bonus again.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."NA gamers get shafted out of cool stuff and grass is green. More at 11.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. On the bright side, since the Switch isn't region locked, if you really want that stylus, you could probably just preorder it from a European store and import it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Since when is Ireland not a part of Europe?
Ukrainian Red CrossHuh. I didn't even know Mario Maker 2 wasn't out yet. I went to the local Gamestop earlier today to look for a different game and they already had copies on sale.
Gamestop puts out empty boxes as preorders way ahead of launch.
I think they are talking about mainland Europe, since Ireland is still apart of the EU despite the crapshow going on with Brexit.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Yeah, but it was announced on Nintendo UK's Twitter, so it's not a case of being a mainland thing.
Ukrainian Red CrossThe stylus announcement was also on No E's Twitter as well. Click the currently pinned tweet and scroll down to the next one. Or I can give you a link.

So you can use the PlayStation VR headset with your Switch.
I don't know if it was posted here, but the new Doraemon + Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons title is surprisingly being localized in English.

New Mario Maker 2 trailer from Nintendo Co. Ltd's Instagram page celebrating the new Reiwa era. Game Xplain uploaded the new trailer for ease and it's embedded below:
Wait, is that trailer saying that we can put multiple styles in the same level?
No. It's specifically to celebrate the last three eras. If you look, the timer is different in each section.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Looks like Donkey Kong Jr., VS Excitebike, and Clu Clu Land will be added to the NES-NSO this month.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."The Switch is a sturdy console, right? A few weeks ago mine fell off the bed a good 4~ feet and it still makes me anxious. Only the joycons broke, but it still makes me nervous that the console is broken somehow and I can't see it. It seems silly to worry about Nintendo consoles, though. My Wii and Wii U have fallen down 3 feet several times each with only cosmetic damage.
On a different note, how would collecting Switch games work in several years? Long after the Switch stops being supported by Nintendo. I know certain games require hardware updates to play. This also exists on the 3DS - I've gotten the "You need to update before playing this game" notice often - and presumably on the Wii U as well. It's annoying that you can't keep your console offline if you wish, but I guess that's how gaming is nowadays
But how does this work for collecting? Once updates aren't automatic, then what? If someone buys a Switch 15 years from now are they locked out of several games? Is there nothing to do but download the patches online and hack them into the console? I haven't seen people discuss this so maybe I'm missing something. You can't just plug and play many games nowadays.
For the most part, consoles ship with the latest update for their software. For used systems, even factory resets still keep the latest system software version (at least, I’m pretty sure) so almost any console picked up years after the fact will be able to play any game released.
SoundCloudThe Switch itself is seemingly made of Nintendium. The Joycons aren't and aren't made well on top of that.
Previous Nintendo hardware tends to be very resilient, so the Joycons not being so is kind of a downer.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I'm becoming increasingly glad I invested in a pro controller, the more I hear about how awful the Joycons are.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Same. I pretty much exclusively use the Switch in console mode anyway, so there's never much reason for me to use the Joy-Cons when the Pro Controller is more comfortable, more durable, and presumably lasts longer.
As an added bonus, since their problems seem to be caused by repeated use, it means if I play a game that mandates use of the Joy-Cons I'll have a pair of fresh ones to go in on.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I should probably get a pro controller. My joycon sticks are starting to drift, and it’s getting really annoying.
Even so, having a new game is better than having nothing. Even if its not a game you personally want to play, you have to be happy that people will get to play it.
