First read Lord of the Rings in Grade 6, because a rival of mine had read it and I didn't. I got hooked, and till the middle of Grade 7 read every single Tolkien work I could find, including his essays and A history of Middle Earth by his son. I own the Lotr movies and the Hobbit ones as well as a complete set of all soundtracks. Since then I've branched out but I still remain a dedicated Tolkien fan, because he is the one who inspired my love of the Fantasy Genre.
If you have to cross thin ice, might as well do it in a dance.So...anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming Amazon LOTR show? Not that we know much about it yet beyond the $1 billion price tag....
It's going to be either fantastic or terrible. Do we know which canon it will follow?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youNot that I'm aware of, although I'd hazard a guess it will follow the books.
A new Lotr film? what's this?
If you have to cross thin ice, might as well do it in a dance.TV series. We know the budget and nothing esle.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youInteresting.
If you have to cross thin ice, might as well do it in a dance.I am simultaneously filled with excitement and dread.
This is about what most people felt about Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, actually, which turned out to be phenomenal, if a bit canon-unfriendly. If it were not for that game, I would have no faith that there could be any other adaptation...
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youFor the price tag, I sure hope it's good. If it isn't, then Amazon will have wasted $1 billion.

The only thing I can say with certainty is that it will be divisive.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI think you hit the nail on the head....
So it's apparently going to be a prequel.

I mean. It can't take place after the defeat of Sauron. Any other villain we might dredge up would just feel like fanfiction. Even Tolkien himself couldn't write a satisfactory story that took place after the Lord of the Rings, and we know this because he tried.
So, I was more or less expecting a prequel.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youBased off a story in the Silmarillion?
If you have to cross thin ice, might as well do it in a dance.I still crave an Angmar story. Rise of the Witch-King was such an amazing game and it has really whet my appetite for War in the North stories. I really like the fact that there are three rival kingdoms in the North that descended from Arnor. I'd really like to see inter-mannish kingdoms politics, and see the different designs for armor and weapons and banners.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youHave you played lotro? Lot of stuff concerning Angmar there.
I have, but i couldn't get too involved because of gameplay mechanics. I'm not big on MMOs.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youMe, I'd love to see a movie based off of The children of Hurin.
If you have to cross thin ice, might as well do it in a dance.- slides in* DID SOMEONE MENTION A MOVIE BASED ON THE NARN I CHIN HURIN?
I've read the Narn, I've read the Silmarillion, I've read the Unfinished Tales, I've read Lot R and the Hobbit, and if there's more content I WILL READ IT.
I've memorized some poems and can no longer take the movie Eye of Sauron seriously. For the love of Dante, I HEARD it say "silivren penna miriel"! That means "glittering like a jewel"! That's from a hymn to Varda Elentari, one of his greatest enemies!
Full moon is on the sky and he's not a man anymore
Still waiting on that LOTR concept album adaptation by Blind Guardian. Their Nightfall in Middle Earth album is amazing a.f. by that way.
When you're not the father, It's a great big surprise. Thats-a-Maury.
