[up]It's several minutes shorter than the originals (the old ones were usually about 50 minutes, where as these are a crisp 25 minutes), cuts to the chase more as a result. Other differences are the main villain wasn't a stereotypically evil Englishman, but Asian. Kayo did'nt exist either, she's more of an upgrade to the character Tintin, with her father, Kerano, abesent entireyl (in the old show, he was a servant to Jeff Tracey, the father, who is M.I.A in the new series)

And I loved Tunnels of Time...though mainly for the crack Gordon/Penelope 'shipping. And the original voice of Alan voiced the archeology Professor

The old Hood was much more prone to pratfalls and general embarrassment. The new guy is smarter by compare. Also, in the old series the Hood had a psychic connection with his brother Kyrano and often used Voodoo to control him and stuff. Really glad they decided to drop that aspect from the series.

The old series was much more deliberate with its pacing. Sometimes they'd draw out a scene longer than necessary, but it was okay because they were very good at building tension. No one ever walked anywhere due to the limitations of the puppets. These two factors mixed together, compounded with general 60's silliness, would occasionally lead to scenes like this.

One character I felt this new series handles better is Lady Penelope. In the old show she was basically a hunk of cardboard with no personality, and it might just be me but I think she was kind of a dick to Parker. Speaking of Parker, his original voice actor reprises his role in this series and I think it actually sounds better than he used to. Also, occasionally the original series' International Rescue would use guns to shoot and kill people. Thankfully this hasn't happened yet in the new series, since their business is saving lives, not ending them. Although if Parker were to do it I wouldn't have problem with him shooting someone. It wouldn't be out of character for him given his background.

"I can't think with all this gravity!"

A nice, straightforward rescue episode, just like the old days. Two problems though, this show never bothers to take into consideration how long it takes to travel from Tracey Island to the site of the disaster. Then there's the fact that John was exposed to enough G's to kill a man. This isn't Dragon Ball Z.

[up]What makes you think the episode was aired out of order?

Either tv tropes recap page or wiki episode list, I forgot which

Well we see Thunderbird 4 in action for the first time since the pilot. And remember the guy form "Slingshot" with his geranium? Apparently the creators liked him so much they decided to bring him back for another episode.

"The gravity Well is just like a tornado!" I think this is the worst case of failing physics since the show started. Having a machine increase gravity is one thing, but then it also somehow negates gravity if you're standing next to it. I did like Gordon's solution though, Screw technical mumbo jumbo, just shoots it! Also Supreme Hadron Collider? Really

Well, they couldn't call it Ultimate Hadron Collider since clearly supreme won't be the final version xD

Guess what show is back from hiatus. And look, another space episode. What are the odds? Is it just me or did they just skip clean over the rescue of everyone aboard the entire hotel? And of course The Hood is behind it, because they couldn't have someone besides The Hood do this. Guys, if you use the same villain over and over again it becomes predictable and the villain looks like a fool for constantly being foiled. Add some variety to your antagonists. There's nothing wrong with a one-shot villain in a show like this.

This show is airing new episodes? I thought it was cancelled.

The first season is going to have 26 episodes total, and apparently they've already been greenlit for a second season. Though I've heard that Jeff Tracey won't be appearing as a main character in that season either.

Next week's episode is about the boys trying to rescue a friend of Jeff Tracey on the moon, so maybe we'll get new details on that angle

I liked that Brains was encouraged to act on gut instinct by Grandma, and that Kayo again got to do a lot on the mission, but she again tries to go it alone and hangs up on Alan rather than maintain radio contact. It works out for her because of who the saboteur is, but it feels like a contrived way to still keep the boys in the dark about her secret.

Virgil trolling Gordon with the showers was great. "You'll just have to smell like hard work". Glad they're keeping up the Gordon/Penelope teasing, and they're doing a bit of that with Alan and Kayo too.

Ugh, nevermind I confused this show for Thundercats.

I was worried that this whole episode would either be about Scott trying to convince the old guy to leave his post, which he absolutely refused to do, or that the whole episode would constantly remind us that old ways are the best. Thankfully neither of those things happened an the episode is actually one of the better ones. I also like that someone in the show has a hard time telling the five Tracey kids apart.

Well that was one of the better episodes. They kept things simple, had good pacing and had a nice bit of character work. All in all a good job.

Finally, an episode where they establish that the Hood is going to be the villain from the start as opposed to one where they take random situation and decide halfway through "Nope! Hood's behind this too." I think the Hood would have worked better as a character if he had an overarching plot or goal, instead of having a different plot every week that has nothing to do with anything. Also, they mentioned a Spectrum Satellite. Captain Scarlet reference? And we finally see more of Gordon and Thunderbird 4.

Then, right in the middle of a rescue operation with a dozen lives in hanging in the balance, Lady Penelope just drives off in an underwater car as though nothing was wrong, even though it could be used to ferry people to the safety. The hell?

Can I just say Parker is my favorite character?

I don't know how that lady could have been in the vault with the anti-matter for any length of time without dying when they make such a big deal about how dangerous it would to the outside world if they left the door open. It makes no sense.

Hey, let's go to Halley's Comet! It's only 16 x 8 x 8 kilometers big but I'm sure that means it will have normal Earth gravity. And I just noticed that Scott's gloves have no fingers. Pretty sure he would have lost them if he had them exposed to hard vacuum.

It seems they always rely on a familiar routine with these routine rescue missions...the boys always encountering some stubborn quipping uncooperative and nagging eccentric. I liked how a good portion of the middle episode formed part of the explorer's live stream feed. In parts it was doing the found footage thing better than Doctor Who did this year. Wish they'd kept it up.

And T3 has it's own pod vehicle also. I'd like to see that attached to a deluxe version of the craft in toystores

"Designated Driver"

Great comedy romp this morning with the voice of the original Lady P, Sylvia Anderson as Penelope's aunt, and an appearance from the original FAB Zero, complete with it's own flight mode

The use of the original car was great, and they even gave it a flight mode to match the next generation model (still runs on petrol though). The two crooks were a pitiful but endearing sort of double-act ("Of course I don't know how to drive, it's 2060, nobody drives anymore")

And do all the Tracey brothers really sleep in their civvies or is it just Alan that does it?

"Chain of Command"

Yeah that was a darn good one. Some of my faves of the classic series like "The Imposters" and "Terror In New York" deal with IR coming under fire from authority. They seem to put the lack of credentials for the guy to bed pretty quickly near the end, I would have a bit of them following up on Parker's little trap, but I suppose the one scene with him and Janus was enough.

"Touch and Go"

As "Loose Cannon not doing things our way" episodes go, this was alright. At least Scott's starting to wise up and question the little things like the Hood saving Kayo's life rather than go after the fuel. Hood's little speech about others needing the fuel more than the privileged, whilst challenged on it's sincerity by Kayo, was a good point to bring up.

24 episodes in and we finally see Thunderbirds S for the first time.

Oh, and can I just say how good an acronym CATCH is? It flows so naturally, not forced at all.

So the central aircraft hub goes down and nobody goes to look at it until International Rescue says so? Way to drop the ball GDF.

Hey, I have the bad guy cornered, why don't I just let him talk and talk and talk and...

Hot dang that was a good episode. Loved that Gladys and her man was back, and causing all sorts of trouble for the GDF by inadvertently giving the order to move in before the sting could conclude...all while serving tea. I suspect we'll see him in the Arctic position next season.

Lots of action from Thunderbird S here with the aerial dogfighting and making more use of the motorcycle portion of the craft. Yet another episode also that devotes it's time into delving into Scott and Kayo's different perspectives and Scott choosing to "experiment" a bit with chasing bad guys. Kayo's overconfidence again gets the better of her as she has to let the crook go because he's got info on her family...but it looks like she's finally going to tell the boys about her past by the end of the story, so this does tie into the finale somewhat after all.

"Oh don't do that, that's my tea-pouring arm"

And was anyone reminded of the limo from Terrahawks when FAB 1 changed colour?
