I liked the episode. and I'm curious as to when, exactly, barry and ollie start trying to catch her. we're already a third of the way through.
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersI had mixed feelings about this one.
One the one hand, there's more lengthy and awkward exposition. On the other hand, we're finally getting exposition about interesting things that move what I assume to be the plot forward.
On the one hand, they're keeping Anansi as the source of Vixen's powers from the JLA comics, and more media appearances of Anansi are always worth a grin. On the other hand, they're keeping Anansi as the source of Vixen's powers from the JLA comics, which means they might very well be doing the Ambiguously Evil Anansi that showed up there, which I'd hate.
Also, Anansi is a Ghanaian figure while Ase is a Nigerian religious concept, but I'm going to let that slide because it's not the kind of thing the average person would know, both transcend the countries and cultures they originated in anyway, and this is still far better than most theme park versions we get of this sort of thing. It's still probably gonna make me wince, though.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.New episode is up. It shows her demonstrating her powers in front of her foster father. It also shows the start of the chase between Vixen, Flash, and Arrow from the beginning of the first episode.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventuredoes anyone know /when/ this is set? during Flash 1/Arrow 3, or right after the finales, or....?
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersI think it is set during Episodes 15 and 16 of Arrow's 3rd season.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventureok, makes sense. so because of timeywimy stuff, that puts it between 16/17 of Flash, I think, because somewhere in there Arrow got a bit ahead, when Barry did his accidental time travel. Ok. good. (That also explains Cisco's 'get back in the field' thing and Barry not even responding to it, since Cisco, if this is set after Flash 16, did just get kidnapped.)
(depending how this all works out, I might wanna give Mari a metakitty from my was once a crack fic, is now a sometimes silly sometimes serious AU thing.)

Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersYay, Mari's learning how to use her powers!! Yay!
I forget which episode of Arrow it happened but the events of Arrow jumped 3 weeks ahead because Oliver was training with the League of Assassins so instead of showing his training they cut to the next scene with a message that said "Three Weeks Later" and mentioned that Ollie has been gone three weeks when it was only one week since the last episode. I think that might have been episode 16.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventurehmm, three weeks may have coincided with the three week break between episodes 14 and 15 of Flash airing, since they like to real time it when they can, which I think still works for my timeline and explanation. (if it is set after 16 of Flash, that explains much. like why Barry didn't waste time alerting/consulting Wells, why he didn't bring Cisco, etc)
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersI was wrong the time skip was during episode 20 of Arrow's 3rd season.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventureoh, drat. well, meh, I think Arrow still gets a week ahead of Flash during Flashe's 15-16 because Barry goes back in time at the end of 15 and reset buttons. though I'm not sure if the reset affected arrow, too. I feel like it did? eh. I think it makes sense for this to be between 16 and 17 of Flash, so until I figure it out I'll call it there.

Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersSo, um, why exactly was Mari running from Ollie and Barry again?
She probably thought they wanted to do weird superhero shit. Which, to be fair, they do.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I'm not sure how in the know most people are (maybe she read Iris's blog? She was in Central City for a while, I'm sure there's gossip) but basically all of the people with powers or cool tech that The Flash has encountered have either A) vanished mysteriously for at least months on end, B) died, or C) been arrested. She has a record, and she did just beat some people up, for all she knows, they're there to take her away somewhere, or at least take the necklace, her only clue to finding her family. Plus, Arrow. I've never seen it, so I don't know, but he killed people, yeah? and, like, that was known, right?
I'd have run, too. Dude shows up on my doorstep with a mask, bow and quiver and not a super friendly look, I'd be hella gone.
spoilers for the latest episode—and other 6 minute one!
ok the above is mostly jossed , she has no clue what metahumans are so that's gone, guessing she doesn't know about Iris's blog. She does know who Arrow is and quotes the "you have failed your City" thing so there is that, but mostly she just thought they were there to put her in jail.

Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersI liked the quote from
Barry: "I think that went well."
Oliver: "How do you figure?"
Barry: "Normally when I meet a meta-human for the first time I get beat up."
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureVixen knows Ollie's catchphrase? How does anyone know his catchphrase?
Wait better question, how the fuck did Barry stop on the side of a building?

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.there was a ledge he stopped on, a little landing.
And Oliver was being nice, reminding Barry they lock metahumans up. he could have mentioned that over half the meta's they've come across are now dead. (more than half? I had it all written out once.)
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersMan, all the actors from the live action shows are really phoning it in. Kinda wish that connection wasn't there at all, honestly.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."IIRC, most of the people he said it to lived long enough to tell other people about meeting him. And there were a ton of people on his list that got to hear it offscreen.
Despite the fact that he was an enigma for a while, the Starling City Vigilante was a pretty well known figure. I wouldn't be surprised if his catchphrase was in the news and such.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. In season one Moira paraphrased his catchphrase when she was on the news to reveal her part in the Undertaking, "My name is Moira Queen and I have failed this city."
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThat's a shame. I'm surprised though. I'd expect Amell to be a bit better, since he's done at least a little voice acting when he gets the chance to voice Green Arrow (such as the Arrow skin of Oliver in Injustice Gods Among Us).
One Strip! One Strip! He's alright. He's super "Growly grr I'm a tough manmandudeguy!" which, maybe he is in the actual Arrow show? I dunno
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I don't really know where they are going if there are only 4 minutes remaining, but I like the character, so I hope the aneswer is not "nowhere". Tell me they thought of someone already for real-life Vixen in either Arrow or Flash.
Mari's voice actress already looks pretty close, so I doubt they'll use someone other than her.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
Peggy's the superior officer, seeing as how she's an agent for the SSR, and the guy (who was an Army trainee on his first day) was disrespecting her. Again, I don't see the problem.
