Definitely interested in it. Not going to be airing for (almost exactly) a month yet, though
This thread will be difficult to find later...
:'D So happy this exists.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.One month can't come soon enough!
i. hear. a. sound.Okay so there was an advance screening shown, here's a report (spoilers for the first episode).
lewd
Subtle, Ikuhara.
So we're skipping the part where things seem kind of normal and just going straight for the "I don't know what's real" phase, then
Gao gao.
i. hear. a. sound.Well, the title of this anime is completely descriptive of everything it's about.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Well, that was a thing.
I keep expecting Monokuma to show up, from off camera.
Huh, looking at the plot of the anime it seems to be radically different from the manga (where all of the "bear" stuff was largely in the girls dreams/head). But then that isn't unusual for anime so yeah...
No...? Anime tends to be remarkably faithful compared to just about any other form of adaption. It is pretty standard for Ikuhara, though
Wasn't Utena the anime radically different from Utena the manga? Many fans of the anime seem to have nothing but contempt for Chiho Saito.

It really depends. For example, Utena wasn't an adaption (from either direction). The creative team came up with the setting and general ideas which Saito and Ikuhara then took in different directions for the manga and anime. In that case the anime turned out to be the more iconic and popular.
I suspect that this show is doing something similar. The manga may come out first because it's got a shorter lead time is all.
I really want the full version of that opening.
i. hear. a. sound. That was one incredibly solid intro episode, it hit all the right notes for me - switching from romantic love to surreal humor, drama, symbolism and general weirdness. I can't wait to see everything else Ikuhara has in store.
Oddly, I think I'm getting desensitized to some of his stuff, because it wasn't nearly as confusing as it would have been to me some time ago.
Any reference to Sankebestu incidence yet?
Not yet, but I heard about that, and knowing Ikuhara there might be something important there.
OMG IT'S HERE IT'S HERE
- Starting off right away with yuris and yuri! And then the kuma came!
- OP is sultry as heck, with such yuri and many kumas.
- Oh okay so bears normally eat humans but these bears will end up wanting to...do other things with humans. Gao gao.
- Not the yuris!
- Guns in schools? That's not even okay in America.
- It's a male! That was a male voice on the phone! No way!
- This is very surreal, gao gao.
- There are bishounen bears! Life shexy!
- MEGANE BEAR!! LIFE COOL!!!
- Shota bear! Life beauty!
- Best anime of the year, gao. NOTHING can possibly top this, gao. Very surreal, super cute, and pretty lewd, gao.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Direction and style honestly feels more Monogatari than Penguindrum
Yep, straight to the insanity portion of the series. Pretty certain there's multiple levels of metaphor going on here
I have no idea if this meets the normal criteria for "good", but I enjoyed it
Well, that was a thing.
Not my kinda thing, but it's well directed. Oh well.
Got a chance to watch it. I am sure it will get easier to understand.
What are the bears doing with Sumio?
Also known as Yuri Kuma Arashi, also known as Lesbian Bear Storm, also known as the anime Kunihiko Ikuhara was born to make.
