My mother had a similar reaction when I recounted to her Iceman's parents reactions to being gay.
It was along the lines of "Gee they sure are turning a lot of superheroes gay" in a sort of iffy tone.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The question that occurs to me now is how much of this outrage would there have been were Soldier 76 known to have been gay from the start?
I am not entirely sure tbh. I know when Tracer was revealed to be gay that a lot of the people that were outraged were upset that their favorite waifu was taken or unobtainable.
I think with Soldier's current case its fullblown homophobia. And the homophobes are trying their damnedest to convince themselves that they are not homophobes with really dumb arguments.
I personally don't give a shit whom is gay or whom isn't but I support having more gay characters that aren't walking stereotypes.

One of the more irritating aspects of so many bigots is their half-assed pathetic attempts to deny their bigotry.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIts denial. They don't want to come to terms with possibly being a bad person or supporting bad reliefs so they'll keep trying to reaffirm that they are a good person, it's just the gays are being bad.
If anything 76 being gay reveals that their is no good way to reveal if a character is gay for these idiots. Tracer got a full art panel while 76 got 2 paragraphs and they still complain.
Its funny to laugh at their stupidity I guess.
RE: CFO and decisions - Ugh. That's the sad reality of things, I guess.
I wish Jeff and co. would be more...unrestrained with his ideas and concepts. That is, hopefully such that it would result in a better variety of gameplay for us.

Don't stop, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need-proceed, just proceed, 'cause this is what you need! One thing I find interesting about this reveal is that it makes Jack one of the relatively rare older LGBTQ characters in fiction.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe CFO replacing him was apparently really good at his job and didn't typically restrain the development teams too much so it sounds like they'll get exactly that.
Agreed. I apprecieate that.

I hope these short stories become a regular feature. Right now what Overwatch lore desperately needs is some sort of ongoing regular content.
Releasing a short story and pairing it with a new skin every month or two and/or other cosmetics, like voicelines that are quotes from the story) could be a cool way to advance the story and have characters actually evolve both in story and visually in game.
While simple things like just releasing a skin depicting whatever they happened to wear in the story (like the Ana Baset skin) is perfectly reasonable, that could be a way to release a skin depicting, for example, Symmetra in street clothes should she hypothetically ditch Vishkar and have to go on the run.
Oh well hopefully that leads to good things then.
This game gets dreary, haven’t played it in a while.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Hmm. Neat development. Can't say I care all that much, but I'm glad people are happy.
Huh.
For some reason this makes me feel a lot better about playing as Soldier 76. Will probably main him a lot more now that Pharah actually takes skill to play.
and lol @ all the homophobes insisting they are totally ok with gay people in games just as long as it's revealed a different way than the way it's currently revealed, regardless of how it's revealed.
Something that someone on Twitter pointed out: the two confirmed LGBT characters of Overwatch are, respectively, a cute eye candy girl whose arse was initially the focal point of her promotion, and a grizzled, macho military man. Both are basically the stereotypical selling points of the straight male, and both are gay. Idk if Overwatch's team planned it that way, but I found the parallels pretty cool.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Out of curiosity, do we already have asexual and/or aromantic characters in Overwatch?
Disgusted, but not surprisedNone who're confirmed, no.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I am skeptical that Bastion desires to bone down, however.

Implying BastionXTorb's turret isn't canon.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Eh, I think Omnics having lovers and (somehow) engaging in sexual relations is actually canon. Though I imagine Omnics who aren't built for sexual activity have to get creative.

Disgusted, but not surprised+ You'll sink my BastionXNobody ship over my dead body
I’m still hoping for Zarya to be revealed as a lesbian, and for literally any trans rep in the game. I like what we’ve gotten so far, but I want more.
I want more robot and off the wall characters.
I half expect Sombra to be ace.
Disgusted, but not surprisedEcho will be another female omnic
You're right. I should be careful what I wish for.
You probably need to find new friends. This "friend" of yours sounds like an asshole. Even more so if they're aware that you are an LGBTQ person.
It's actually kind of baffling to me how just the mere mention of a character being gay will set people off like this.
