This artic cold front is shattering records. NWS Cheyenne, Wyoming recorded a record drop of 40⁰F in temperatures from 43⁰ to 3 in 30 minutes.

This is on top of a drop from 43⁰ to 11⁰ in just 10 minutes.

And of course, the old "Global warming can't be real because it gets cold in the winter!" chestnuts are being posted and said...

I'm not sure whether to post this in this thread or not, since the initial post approves the topic of geology but not of anthropogenic climate change. But, technically, I don't think this is "climate" change.

Reuters article - Brazilian geologists on Trindade Island have identified what they refer to as "plastiglomerate" - a "new and terrifying" kind of rock, made of sedimentary grains bound together by the melted remnants of discarded fishing nets.

Figured I'd bring this up here, but here's a video featuring footage from a storm chaser and the recent Rolling Fork, Mississippi preliminary EF 4 tornado.

The storm chaser deaths in the 2013 El Reno, Oklahoma EF 3 tornado should be drilled in every storm chasers head and hopefully videos such as these as well.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the last EF 5 rated tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma. Here's an article for the anniversary and the coverage of the tornado on Youtube from Oklahoma City NBC affiliate KFOR:
