What Hawks said ("Wouldn't it be nice if the world was so peaceful that people like me got bored from all the free time") is pretty common thing to come up from characters in field of law enforcement/medicine/disaster relief. I don't think those kind of lines actually mean that the character is actually willing to resort to drastic measures to make that come true, unless the character in question shows particularly obsessive or unhinged behavior. It's a daydream.

Anyway, yeah Hawks probably doesn't resent or regret being a hero. Maybe feel a bit weary and bitter from how he was just railroaded down this path like a bullet train.

The guy's in his early 20's & he's already feeling tired from it all.

Imagine how he's gonna be in the next decade.

I think Shigaraki is actually just going to have go from this point on with his family member's hands. Did not see that coming.

He is, isn't he? How did I not make that connection.

It seems like Shigaraki was sick or something as a kid, and it may or may not have had to do with his Quirk. But stuff is still so vague.

In which Shigaraki freaks the fuck out, to a point his Quirk goes up a notch.

If his Quirk really was affecting his health even before it manifested, man, talk about a rotten hand he's been dealt (I didn't mean to pun there, I swear). Well, at least we can put the wild theory that his sister is actually Momo who survived the Quirk awakening to the rest.

Also his sister wanted to be a Hero too but as the flashback showed "she says she wants to be a housewife" to dad so he wouldn't get angry with her.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

Looks like he doesn't need "five" fingers on a hand to set the quirk off...but "all" of his hands fingers instead. Either that or he finally found his quirk's off-switch (channeling it selectively through fewer fingers requires some delicate control after all...)

All this talk about "awakened" quirks and them actually being Personality Powers puts a smile on my face, as I do like to see when a character progresses further as a person and that with this, whenever we see a quirk evolve, it means the character have undergone Character Development in order to achieve it. Excellent method.

Aside from that, Re-Destro keeps reminding me about Venom Hulk...(from a What If comic where the symbiotic costume possessed the Hulk in a struggle...) Most be the mouthpiece of his form that making me recall that one...

Redestro's a hell of a lot stronger than I'd thought. That punch was like, United States of Smash powerful. And Shiggy's Quirk is really getting into overdrive, he was always a touch-of-death guy but now more and more limitations are getting removed. Remember when he grabbed Deku at the mall and told him he could kill like 30 people before getting caught if he wanted to? That number's orders of magnitude higher now.

Just the fact that he can channel the decay through things that are touching each other, not necessarily just things he's directly touching, means that he could have killed everyone in that mall if he wanted to. It's also gonna make fighting him a huge pain, since you're gonna have to find a way to get at him without touching the ground. Wonder if there's a range limit on how far he can indirectly decay now?

[up] One thing is certain after this.

Uraraka's presence is going to be vital for the Hero-side when the time comes to fight Shigaraki in the future.

Y'know, I really do like Re-Destro. Totally off his rocker, but he's infinitely more affable then Stain ever could be, and his grievances seem to be at least somewhat legitimate. That he's something of a Hulk expy was also pretty unexpected. Shame the hero's will never probably have to deal with him, but I guess he'd be too much of a moral dilemma that'd distract the narrative I guess.

And now there's some acknowledgement on Shigaraki's face being fucked up.

It really seems like his Dad had it out for heroes, and while his wife's family was kind, they didn't want to go against that.

I guess the hands are going to be gone because Shigaraki won't need them anymore after this; he'll be able to vividly remember things without needing their support.

They said what happened. It was all five fingers, but his power suddenly progressed beyond that. Which is apparently a thing that happens sometimes. Which also has interesting potential implications for a lot of other characters.

I find myself increasingly annoyed that they're translating Geten's name for some reason.

[up] I should have added a "anymore" in that sentence...

But yes, it is quite interesting future developments ahead for other characters...now when the concept of "awakened" quirks have been properly established in the series.

Guess that's what happened to OFA in the last arc before this one...

Can you blame them?

I mean, that one's name is basically a word that got multiple definitions... Either one could be right, as afar as we know...

It's the same thing that happened to Kurogiri early on in the series, remember? Back when he was called "Black Mist" in the translations...

Yes, I can blame them for that because it's a name; it's not meant to be translated at all and they're not doing it with anyone else.

It's like how Kurogiri was initially translated in fan translations as Black Mist. Without the factor it Gratuitous English, it's hard to tell when it's supposed to be someone's actual name or their villain/hero name.

All of their codenames are in English, though.

What I think is more likely to be happening is that they just think "apocrypha" sounds cool. Which it does, but still.
