I predict that William and Kara will bond by the danger they get in more than how the are in the office. I hope they aren't just checking off the list of ways boy meets girl situations for how Kara interacts with love interests.
I still don't know why the writers keep trying to give Kara a love interest. James didn't work, Mon-El didn't work, and William isn't working, so why keep shoving more into the plot?
I love that we have a non-DEO headquarters, the Tower. Because, yeah, the DEO was getting stale (especially after last season when they began working against Supergirl).
Oh you did not like the last two slices of bland white bread? Here, have another one.
You lost!Could they just let her be alone. These relationships always end up hijacking the plot.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."But People can't be truly happy unless they're in a relationship, right?
You lost!I mean, this show did begin as that SNL Black Widow trailer spoof brought to life and done completely unironically.
I always thought the romances were because Supergirl is still a CW show at the end of the day. There target demographic likes romance drama and the writers want to make sure that demographic is kepted happy.
Making sure Kara has a boytoy to play with is the easiest way to make this happen

I mean, they already gave Kara someone whom she has lots of chemistry with: Batwoman.
And before that, people were more into her interactions with Cat and Lena.

Wake me up at your own risk. Why don't they just do one those couples then? I mean this show clearly isn't afraid to have LGBT characters. If she has better chemistry with a female who wasn't written to be her love interest then some random dude who is. Then just have them get together. I would be over the moon if she got with Kate. I could also stand her getting with Lena. I mean what do they have to lose. You know you lack a spine when Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network have more guts then you.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAnd hilariously, on the guys side, I think Barry kind of left everyone else in the dust in a couple episodes. They just keep getting overshadowed by the chemistry Kara (or Melissa) has with others in her own show or in the bigger universe.

Wake me up at your own risk.Which I don't get. I mean the other shows at least had love interests that convince me. Well expect Batwoman, but that's because it's still in it's first season and trying to find it's footing in areas. Is simply impossible for these show runners to find a character who is supposed to have romantic chemistry with Kara that actually has some.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHonestly, as much as I like Lena, paring Kara with her would be just as stupid. These two never had any kind of romantic tensions, they were just really close friends.
And even if we don't like them, Kara's previous love interests clearly set her up as straight.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianYeah, after Alex's big coming out arc in Season 2, it feels like if Kara had any attraction to women, it would have come up then.
I mean, there's also Single-Target Sexuality. But I don't get that from Lena — I get it more from Kara and Kate.
I'm not saying anything of the sort. I would be fine with a male love interest. I just want one that is interesting and has chemistry with her. I mean I would go for Kate and Kara, but I just want a love interest that is more than just a cute guy that Kara likes. I mean why not just introduce a guy and wait a season or two to get them together. I mean Iris and Barry didn't get together right away. Same with Oliver and Felicity.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadRe:Why not Batwoman
Cant be sure but I imagine it'll take alot of work to properly make the two leading ladies a item.(Coordinating schedules so the actors can appear in each others shows regularly, making sure their appearance in one show alines with what they're doing in the other, explaining away the the question 'why doesn't kate just call up her superpowered girlfriend to help her out with X etc)
Maybe they just think the juice isnt worth the squeeze.
Edited by DeanCole on Feb 5th 2020 at 11:55:18 AM
Item or not, that's going to a question asked anyway. It was pretty much a recurring joke that people would question why Oliver didn't call Barry to help out with certain things. We even had it the other way during the early episodes with Cicada.
Because network tv is nothing is not addicted to convention. More relationships means more meaningless but shocking melodrama!
Even if that addiction to melodrama nearly ruined Arrow several times, and consistently made characters across the Arrowverse less interesting than when they weren’t doing it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It's become a cycle here. They introduce new boring love interest, said love interest ends up hijacking the plot or taking up way too much time onscreen , we complain about it. They fix it by having him sent on a bus and breaking up. Rinse and repeat.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Though, this will be the first time Kara's love interest didn't know her secret identity. Hopefully we at least get some old fashioned dashing-off-to-do-superheroics-and-gets-back-before-he-notices-she's-gone shenanigans.
It looks like Supergirl will be pulling a Flash for it's 100th episode and going back to various parts of its history:

My instincts tell me that Kara will be confident at the end of the episode in her decision to tell Lena at the award thing or when ever Lena learned in this new universe. But I am curious about a number of things. 1. Is Mxy going to show what it would be like if Kara told Lena earlier and from what point? 2. How long will Kara's doubt last? Mainly because we can connect and empathize with Kara being unsure on her decision and what she should do. 3. Will Kara be able to bring J'onn or Alex along as they are Kara's way of keeping her head and her conscience when she needs them. 4. What reason would Mxy have of doing this? and 5. What subplots will take away airtime to what should be the primary focus this 100th episode?
I hope Lena still takes it badly unless its something like mid-late season 2 when she was in a pretty solid place IIRC.
Because Lena's issues with dealing irrationally with anyone betraying her in any way is really a Lena issue and not a Kara issue.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome Rob
It's not just the lack of chemistry that bothers me. Most of Karas love interests so far seem like they were designed to appeal to the broadest possible female audience. Like some focus group sh*t. Give them some edges dammit!
You lost!
