I dunno, I thought most characters in Tekken relied on physical moves with one projectile or another in the mix? Seems to be the case with Lucario where it seems his only projectly is Aura Sphere and Machamp has no kind of projectile move it seems, so a character who can just stay in a corner using special attacks could be broken very easily, especially if they give Gardevoir Teleport.
I'm expecting this game to be mainly about Fighting types and other physical mons such as maybe Nidoking, Bisharp and Electivire, so that may just be conflicting thoughts.

Here's a projectile heavy character they put out recently. Maybe she was practice/an experiment for this.
I saw exactly one projectile move in that video which doesn't really go against what I said, she still has a lot of physical moves and I can't imagine Gardevoir doing much of that.
Easy enough - just have moves that have particle effects and flair but are still close range. Throw in some teleports and blackholes with variable distance and you're good to go. I forgot about Unknown and her throns and giant ink hands of doom, but even she's very physical with a handful of projectiles thrown in for flavor.
Anyway, we've got three characters confirmed and about 40 seconds of gameplay, so it's way too early to make judgement calls on anything just yet.

I expect more projectiles than the average Tekken game, but clearly the focus is going to be on close combat.
Gardevoir could still work though. She'd just use a lot psionic melee type moves.

Gardevoir could have close combat and still not actually get physical. Look at Dormammu for instance.
Point. I'll just wait and see.
So... Pokémon I want in this game:
- Gallade
- Lopunny
- Hawlucha
- Poliwrath
- Pangoro
- Bisharp
- Scizor
There's prooobably more that I can't think of right now.

Yeah, I thought it was obvious that I was talking about melee-range attacks that simply don't involve contact.
Biggest points are that humanoid/nonhumanoid is not an issue when it comes to implementing characters, Tekken guest characters aren't a thing, and apparently this game doesn't have a high/low system?! I mean, there are some games that do that and still work (like Smash) but I hope this doesn't lead to annoying mechanics like guard breaking or anything.

Shit. Pikachu's in, than.
I'm guessing it'll have a rock/paper/scissors set up. Attacks beat grapples, grapples beat guarding, and guarding beats attacks? I dunno. It looks like Lucario guard breaks Machamp in the trailer, so instead it could have something like strong attacks beat guards, weak attacks beat... something, and so on.

Okay, so now I want the Swords of Justice to be in the game, they could be the last opponents you face before the final boss (which could be either Mewtwo or Arceus) and which one you face depends on what Pokémon you're playing as.
Not gonna lie, that news kills a lot of my enthusiasm for this. Now we're going to get Charizard and Pikachu and a bunch of other really boring overused Pokemon for sure. Five different freakin' Eeveelutions, probably.
Yeah, if they're looking for what the fans want, an Eeveevolution and Charizard are a given.
How dare they try to include fan favorite Pokemon of all shapes and sizes. No one likes those!
Adding fan favorites? Blasphemy! Blasphemy I say!
On less sarcastic notes, this looks quite cool. Not exactly a fan of traditional fighting games, but hey, Pokémon!

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I just don't see how they're going to be any fun to play as - there's a reason most fighters don't have four legged characters. And Charizard and Pikachu are already in Smash.That. I want to see what they can do with characters that will never get a chance to get any spotlight in the franchise otherwise.

I have no problems with Charizard or whatever being in the game, I just hope some other underrated Pokémon make it to the roster. Though considering Machamp is in I don't think I have to worry much.
If the Eeveelutions are like this, maybe they could work.◊
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I don't even know what that is and I've never wanted anything so bad.
How has this thread gone so far without mentioning Greninja? C'mon, Kermit's got "Raven-expy" written all over him.
Oh, I'm totally sure Greninja will be getting in, being the 6th gen fan favorite and all. I just some more underrated Pokémon to be in, Greninja is my favorite Pokémon ever, but I'm happy enough with it's presence in Smash, I want some new faces
A Pokemon Fighting Game that's not Stadium/Colosseum? I thought this would never happen! And in Tekken style, no less!
What will they think of next...?
...I don't know, it's highly unlikely, but it would be nice if Sandslash made the cut.

Oh god, those are hideous.
In hindsight the Pokken name should have been more obvious, but even so this is an insane collaboration that I look forward to greatly.
For some weird reason, I want my younger brother's favorite Pokémon to be playable above all else- Reuniclus. It'd make for a fun and weird fighter, I'm sure. Especially if they find a fun way to implement Trick Room without making it broken.

Could be a Devil/Kazuya style switch, too. I'm betting it will be a super mode mechanic, though.
Regarding moveset clones, they've been pretty good lately about varying clones - Heihachi and Kazuya were nearly carbon copies back in the day. Now they're so different their roots are hard to recognize.
