Yeah but TG also ended, which means it can't go downhill any further, and ended on an okay ending thst was better than the segments of the journey that lead to it.
Whereas Comics will always find ways to dig themselves into the deepest pit of mud and occassiobally drag themselves out to sometimes shine once more before falling right back into the mud pit.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. So really TG is lucky it managed to end with some dignity.
I can't say the same for other series.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""Oh man, I've completely ruined Batman. There's no way it can sink any lower."
"Hold my beer."
More or less a regular occurrence in the DC offices' cafeteria.
TBH, I still think that the animated version of The Killing Joke is worse in terms of what it did to Batman's character. You know what I'm talking about if you're familiar with that work.

Disgusted, but not surprisedOk I need to know what happened in Batman #50 now that it was brought up. You don't just get to bring it up as an example and not explain to the rest of the class why its an example. That's just not cool.
So I'm kind of weirded out how some people seem angry it was happy(ish) ending ._. Like I'm pretty sure if it had been tragic ending same amount of people would have reacted angrily as well
Tokyo Ghoul is a grimdark setting, happy endings in grimdark are pretty rare. The very most you usually will get is pyrrhic victory endings.
Yeah, but considering that whenever tragic things happened, comment section was like "noooooooo" I'm pretty sure if this ended tragically comment section would be like "Fuck author, I wasted 6 years on this, what was all the point". Now they are like "Author is hack I wasted 6 years on this"
(also yeah, what is up with Batman #50?)

People will complain about anything.
For one half of the fans that are satisfied with an ending, there’s another half that’s disappointed.
Shit happens.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm just wondering if "This is happy ending, what a hack" is the real reason though ._. Like, maybe there is another reason why they thought ending was bad, but they latched into wrong reason on complaining?
Either way, I didn't have really problem with it. Like at most bit bullshit that guy who got stabbed in the neck survived and I can understand why folks might be annoyed by text box narrating everyone(I don't really mind though since isn't alternative just not knowing what happens to most people). I do admit that final arc in general feels rather tonal shift since it changed from humans vs ghouls conspiracy into "Big tentacle meat teeth monster" movie thing complete with humanoid jrpg final boss beat in one chapter. So yeah, it does feel rushed I suppose, but I honestly don't think we really need multiple chapters fighting Rize
So yeah, I think okay ending is pretty good description and I'm okay with that.
As I mentioned with my own opinion on the ending, it's the way the story reached this conclusion that makes it hard to swallow. All the cheap death fakeouts(Which happened so much with the Kirishimas to the point it's been regarded as Plot Armor) hyping up people who don't live up to it, lackluster fights, cliffhanger chapters meant to fill people with dread only for the sake of a cliffhanger (Kaneki fell into a bunch of Dragon fluids last week with no way to escape himself.), etc.
Essentially the journey to this point makes it hard to take serious. Not to mention how a lot of it is all part of Furutas Meme'd plan. There were just too many characters and too little done with them too.
In fact some of the things Tokyo Ghoul had been doing are things I had a problem with Fairy Tail for.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. This arc was basically to Tokyo Ghoul what Three Kings was to Yu Yu Hakusho, good idea, decent individual scenes, bad execution.
As for what I'll be doing, as Amon said, feeling the emptiness. From here I can go wherever I want.
By that I mean I'm totally gonna read ahead in SNK.
Super peace!
Huh now I remember & now I'm disappointed that Arata was never kept alive after all.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""Hey, kids, that wedding between Batman and Catwoman we've been teasing forever with a huge arc building up to it? Hahaha, PSYCH!"
No I want to know. Tell me the details.
I've been wondering about Ishida's possible next work. With his work ethic, developed artstyle, experience with Tokyo Ghoul, writing, some rest, enough influence to have less constraints, it could seriously be a masterpiece. I wonder if any characters from TG could get reincarnated into new characters. Might be able to do characters like Uta justice. After all a lot of TG characters were based off of Ishida's other work.
So part 2 of the :re Anime will be covering all the way up to the manga's end.
Like, if this is just 12 episode, prepare yourselves for a speedrun trainwreck.

This will be a truly glorious trainwreck.
Good lord why can’t TG have a good anime?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Any chance of an anime original ending?
Re's been better than Root A so I expected it to cut all the important stuff.
So hopefully half the cast dies and stays dead.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I'm going to guess that this was how Ishida wanted to end the series (there's no way TG was canceled, it's huge in Japan), but he was so burned out that he just crammed everything into an epilogue. He was lucky that he was able to make the final chapter longer.
But Kaneki got his happy ending and has a kid with a 10/10. I'm okay with this.
Every party needs a pooper that's why they invited you~ Party Pooper~ Party Pooper~
And as bad as what happened in that issue is (and it's bad) I don't think most of us were all that surprised by it.
Disgusted, but not surprised
