Most of the cast is still there, barring Gillian Anderson. There was a shakeup in the behind-the-scenes show runners too, with Bryan Fuller and Jesse Green being replaced by Jesse Alexander.

Starz has ordered a season 3 already, which will have another show runner, Charles “Chic” Eglee.

I've been busy, so I'm just watching S2 E1 now.

Well fuck: Orlando Jones was fired from the show. I haven't seen any of Season 2, but his Mr. Nancy was a huge highlight of season one and the reason they fired him seems...stupid.

From what I've seen, he was considered one of the better parts I'd S2 as well. Shame we're losing him.

On the subject of his "message", always took it as a form of manipulation. Yes, anger can get things done but it also makes it difficult to think of the correct way of doing that. In S1 one he basically told them they were going to die and the only benefit was to Anansi. S2, has him playing a similar card to get Mr. Ibis and Bilquis to choose their side.

Yeah, but that was his character. They basically fired him for doing his job too well.

Wasn't criticizing him, I agree it was stupid to fire him.

You can spell something out as clear as hell, people can still take the "wrong" message from it. This just shoots themselves in the foot, because we have another well liked actor gone from the show.

Interview with Orlando[1] and it turns out that they originally hadn't written anything for Nancy or the other POC characters when starting season 2. Jones had to step up and do it.

Jesus. And the reason that they let him go — the fact that they were focusing on a part of the book that didn't have Mr. Nancy in it — only makes sense up to a point:

  1. They could have definitely written a new plot or subplot for Mr. Nancy. In the book, Mad Sweeney has, like, two scenes and then he's dead, but he's a main character in the show.
  2. Like the interview says, if they knew they weren't going to use him, why wait until the last moment to tell Orlando Jones? That just seems petty.

At this point American Gods is a write-off. Orlando Jones in Anansi Boys when?

This show is losing actors left and right. Its losing showrunners is, at this point, not a surprise, but the actors...

With New Media's actress quitting the show, are they gonna recast her or reincarnate her? Newest Media? New New Media? tongue

An adaption of Anansi Boys is being developed on Amazon according to Cinema Spot[1]. I don't know how reliable they are so I won't get too excited.

Season 3 teaser; episodes will be released in early 2021.

Quite honestly, I didn't make it through season 2. I don't often fall to Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy, but this did it.

With all the behind-the-scenes drama, I'm surprised it got made. There's certainly other shows I would have rather been watching (looking at you, Counterpart).

I probably will finish it, but I'm not excited. I'm quite a big fan of the book, so it's disappointing the series has gone downhill.
