To be honest, I am not terribly clear what "the indexes are gone" means here. Both the indexes and the pages are still there. Do you perhaps mean "the part of the sidebar where they list the namespaces that have pages under a given title"?

I noticed that some of the icon links at the top of the page go to some of the pages that used to be listed on the side.
Because when people think "easily understood", the first thing that comes to mind is "heiroglyphics" I guess.

I agree, they should put the links to the subpages back in the sidebar. What makes matters worse is that the Subpages drop-down menu (next to the source button) has stopped working. Now the only way to access subpages without buttons is to manually type in the url.
