I hate nightmare yarhghul. Probably my least favorite part of the game.

The 3 jerks in front of the chapel suck too. They're harder than the shadows IMO(who aren't THAT bad as far as multi-bosses go).

My favorite level thankfully follows it. Well not so much the first part but it's a great level afterwards.

And like, I cannot find the Chime Ringing Woman that spawns the enemies near the Chapel.

I already got through the part right before Laser Amygdala, but this is stumping me because she summons them in so quickly.

I've gotten through the first layer of Lower Pthumeru, and got a really nice gem for it. I'm thinking I'll go farm the required stuff for that layer, do that boss over and over again and work on getting my weapons looking nice.

...and I just discovered she's hidden in plain sight.

I feel like an idiot.

Well, I beat two very different bosses. I summoned in Defector Antal to help against The One Reborn, but discovered I probably didn't need him. I killed the chime maidens above, and then put on my Fire Paper buff and went to town. The boss hit me I think three times total, and he went down alarmingly fast for something of that size.

The next area was spooky as fuck.

I got through the next floor of the Lecture Hall (what is up with that place?) and entered the Nightmare of Mensis, where I was immediately struck by those Silverbeasts who I discovered do not like fire at all, and annoying rock tossing yetis.

Due to decreasing my Insight to like 2, I got through without much trouble, but even still the damage from whatever that Sauron Eye thing was was intense.

Micolash took three attempts and he was by far the most infuriating boss I've ever fought. He either folded like paper, or one shot me with utter bullshit.

Since then I've looked further on Mergo's Loft, and did some further exploring. Before going there I headed further into Cainherst, and found the Executioner's Gloves, but they never really came into play yet.

This game is getting pretty difficult, but I'm at like level 122 with 35 Vigor, 30 Strength 30 Skill and 45 Arcane.

The Ludwig's Holy Sword now hits for something like 540, letting me three shot the freaking Shadows of Yharnam that are roaming around up there. Still a little shocked a boss is just roaming around like that.

Okay minor spoilers so you don't end up disappointed: you're like, 90% done with the main game. Nightmare of mensis is basically the penultimate level of the game and leads into the final boss, though you're not railroaded into fighting them right away. If you haven't already I'd do the top of the cathedral and recommend the DLC area since it's easily some of the best parts of the game. More bloodborne is good anyway lol. I guess you can do the chalice dungeons but tBH I find them repetitive after a while and I didn't like a particular boss which was a rehash of an already crappy boss except much harder. meh.

TBH I find BB's pacing hella weird. Rom feels like it should be the halfway point of the game but it's more like the...65% point as the rest of the game can be done in under 3 hours if you're simply trying to beat it and ignore optional stuff. Like first playthrough I remember feeling stunned by how short it felt. Granted I missed a good chunk of the game but the game ends in a place where it feels like it shouldn't.

Yeah I haven't gotten to a few bosses like Logarius and Ebrietas, but the first time I went to Upper Cathedral Ward I was spooked - like, the enemies had their high insight version weapons, and there were freaking fetuses on the ground praying to something.

I am planning on doing the Chalice Dungeons purely so I can make my character even more powerful than he already is (a 1200 AR Sword sounds nice), and I've yet to go into the DLC.

I've found that the Cramped Caskets do not react well to being hit by the Augur very well.

I also killed those three Hunters I saw people ranting about earlier - just drew em out one at a time, and used the Augur for parries. They seemed really derpy when they left their main area, and died pretty easily.

I'm probably gonna have to fight whatever it was that put Eileen into that kind of state, and I don't much like the idea - I hear he's tough.

Like many NP Cs in these games, he's exploitable. I hope sekiro buffs up enemy behavior because I feel like it's a constant issue in these games where you can cheese what should be challenging opponents just by running outside their aggro range or something.

Have fun with the Bloody Crow. He has the fan-given title of Boss NPC.

Should I go to 60 Arcane?

Insofar I'm trying to get Radial Bolt Gems, which at that kind of Arcane level should handily outdamage what I'm getting from my purely physical gems right now.

As far as weapon damage, the gains per point peak at 50 for all stats. After that they get a lot smaller, but exist.

Hunter Tools aren't weapons though. They're Hunter Tools. And oh boy most of them don't slow down until 99!

^Yeah she's one of my least favorite bosses. Though funnily enough my last two playthroughs had a relatively easy time with her.

She was the first boss I summoned help for in Bloodborne, same as Dark Souls III's Nameless King; I knew she was optional and I just wanted to get on and finish the game.

What problem are you having Bad Wolf? Ebrietas was always a relatively easy boss for me.

All the abomination type enemies take a lot of extra damage from stabbing type stuff if I remember correctly.

Dunno why.

Oh really when?

I’m not having any problems. Just flashbacks. Ebrietas was a garbage boss.

Well, I dropped the Brain of Mensis from its Eye of Sauron spot, and now I'm gonna go explore the Upper Cathedral Ward.

I also got some really nice Blood Gems from the Winter Lanterns - and I suppose if I want good gems, I either have to fight them or fight my way through Chalice Dungeons.

Speaking of which, I had a pretty funny experience.

I did the regular Pthumeru Root Chalice with the bosses being Watchers, Pig and Beast Possessed Soul, and on my way down, I saw an Undead Giant just sitting there asleep.

So of course I one shot the poor guy with a charged R2 from my Ludwig's Holy Sword.

A Pthumerian mook saw this...and immediately ran up a ladder. "Don't mind me I'm just gonna grab my stuff and leave~"

You're not done with the Brain just yet.

Yeah, I heard something about making contact with it - and did so, got a really nice rune out of it.

In terms of bosses, I made a Fetid Central Pthumeru Root Chalice (babby's first rite), and...not much changed in terms of the enemies.

Should I have made this one Rotten too if I wanted nice loot?

First boss was the Beast Possessed Soul, who I've been killing a lot lately, and parried his ass into next week with a tentacle.

Given my first Root Chalice earlier had a freaking Undead Giant out and about, I'm looking forward to seeing what else could happen in this.

I also did some exploring in the Upper Cathedral Ward (so many fucking Brainsuckers), and got jumpscared a few times by werewolves. I think this game is giving me a newly found fear of werewolves / wolves.

The boss, after all that horror, was an absolute joke. He got a lucky hit in once or twice, but the rest of the time was me wailing on him with a Bolt Paper enhanced Ludwig Sword. First try no problem. Poor fella almost didn't get the room to transform.

The Wolves in UCW are really useful. They're the only monsters in the game that drop Blood Stone Chunks.

As I had previously mentioned; all chalices, inclduing rites, are best experimented as soon as you have the means to do so. You'll either find them a fair challenge and doable, or overwhelming. In the latter case, clear another main area and come back better prepared.

If you leave Chalices hanging for exteneed amounts of time, well you'll come back and absolutely stomp them, even the Rites. Not a bad thing, per se, but the loot might not be up to par with what you already have.

Of course, they're 100% optional and no way required and grinding them may render main game areas too easy. (The trick is to not grind, I'd suppose. Personally I like to clear each type once.)

I dunno, endgame chalices seems honestly designed to carry you through ng+ and ng++ and maybe onwards. if you can get through the final dungeons, you can stomp the final boss pretty hard and the entire ng+ faster than you did in NG, in a game where ng+ quintuples the lifebars of the bosses.

Unrelated, but We've started a tabletop campagin with a few friends in a modern setting full of supernatural beings, and I decided to go with literally a yharnam hunter. It's pretty funny to play, i gotta say.

Also it's the first session and i've already eaten two dead people. And here I thought giving this character ptsd issues would be hard to do with mission-of-the-week pace we're doing.

The punchline being I was trying to use my insight to see if I could notice something off in the room because we knew we missed something, and said something turned out (after I rolled a 100(we use high numbers for failure here)) to be a simple paper sheet with no magical abilites whatsoever.

I (literally) lost (my mind) to a fucking paper sheet.

WHY IS THIS SO ACCURATE.

for extra irony, I think I quoted DBZA!Cell earlier in the session and verbatim said "Because I drink people, bitch." to a mook. Anyone wants another glass of Gone Horribly Right ?

Bloody Crow of Painherst down first attempt. His AI did not seem to cope well to Hunter Tools despite using one himself. He tried to dodge into my Executioner Glove ghosts, which only made him take a bunch of damage. I got a parry on him via Augur, and by the end I had like 14 Blood Vials out of 24 and next to no Quicksilver Bullets.

Barely even had to swing at him. Before I even knew what was up his more than 3000 HP was gone.

I got more of a challenge out of the Undead Giant in Lower Pthumeru Chalice. I'm seriously considering if I'm strong enough for the Chalice. He dealt insane damage with his sweeping chain sickles, but I cheesed him ultimately with A Call Beyond.
