Replied Glen as he perused the shelves of the store. Noting an aisle dedicated to foreign imports, Glen wandered towards it to see if any of Clan Whorple's brews had made their way this far south.

Ai yanked her hand from Charisse's grasp and tried to hide her blush. She had let her guard down.

"Like what?" she said.

She hoped that they'd serve her order soon.

Charisse pulled her hands away, and hid them under the table. Wait, had Ai just blushed?

She also hoped they'd bring the food soon. However, good food takes time, and this was a quality restaurant. A wait is surly expected.

"I want to be as good a hunter as my grandmother, my arms are those of hers." She replied, pensively. "And I really like my team!"

You in particular

"It's nice to look up to someone," said Ai. "The Huntress I look up to saved my life."

A Huntress to whom Ai's stuffed toy dog bore a striking resemblance.

"It would be nice to be paid as a Huntress. I could feed my family," she said. "I didn't want to come here today. It isn't fair that I can eat fancy but my family can't. I made an exception because it's you."

Ai resumed drumming her fingers on the table

"I'm starving."

Kazumi looked at Braun as she took another bite of cotton candy, taking a moment to smile gleefully before continuing to glare. "You're not trying to seduce me with this tasty treat are you?"

"I figured I'd let my natural charm do that." He teased with a grin as he placed his arm on her shoulder. "Now then, let's see about what we can do here. You want to go on some rides? Go to the fun house, maybe watch a performance?"

Kazumi blushed slightly as Braun put his arm around her. Again. What was with him and doing that? "This fun house thing sounds intriguing."

The red velvet seats of the restaurant matched the shade of Charisse's embarrassed face.

"W-what do you mean an e-excepti-" she forced out, but was interrupted by the waiter bringing their appetizers and drinks.

The terrine was artistically crafted, almost too good to eat. Every part of the plate seemed to contribute to the aesthetic of the plate as a whole.

Ai went silent, allowing Charisse to agonize over the meaning of her words. She kept quiet while she ate the terrine, sometimes wordlessly staring into Charisse's eyes for minutes at a time with a slight smile on her face.

Charisse's appetite was gone. She toyed around with the food on her plate, but didn't eat it. All that was left was a torrent of emotion.

"An exception..? D-does this mean you..."

"Does this mean that..."

Her fidgeting got worse.

Thump thump

"Does it mean we feel the same way?"

"How should I know? I'm not a mind reader," said Ai, she shrugging. "Maybe if I heard it from you I'd know."

She had already finished the terrine.

"You haven't eaten anything yet."

Oh yeah. The food.

"I don't know I just..."

It was now or never. Charisse quickly took Ai's hands, and firmly shut her eyes in embarassement.

"I'm sorry for being so sudden but I really like you!" Charisse blurted out, having forgotten the word for love. She then planted her red face into her terrine.

Huh. It actually tasted as good as it looked.

"I ... I won't try to question that logic right now." Wulfric shook his head as he glanced around for anything of interest.

Ai stood up abruptly.

"Jeez, you finally said it!" she said.

She looked around, realizing her shouting had probably bothered the other patrons, so she sat down, somewhat embarrassed by her outburst. She pointed at Charisse from across the table.

"This is all your fault! Why did you have to be so cute and make me question my sexuality? Now what am I supposed to do?" she said.

Charisse picked up her head, which was by this point covered in delicious terrine. The terrine clumps fell off her face, but she quickly cleaned herself off with a napkin.

"You were waiting for me to say something? You knew?"

The outburst did not go unnoticed by the patrons. The place had gone quiet for a moment, before a nervous hubbub accumulated around them. The waiter, coming back with their Salads, stood hesitantly at the exit of the kitchen. A few of the customers, however, were of the more knowledgeable sort, and could infer what was happening between Ai and Charisse.

They thought it was pretty cute.

"Me? C-cute..?" Charisse said, her voice trailing off as a warm smile appeared on her face. She didn't know what to say besides that, or understand what the second half of Ai's sentence meant.

"Yeah. I like you too," said Ai. She scratched her cheek sheepishly and blushed slightly as she said it.

"I've been trying to get you to say something because I just don't know what to say. I've never thought about dating another girl before so I don't know what to do. Do I take the lead? Do you take the lead? I don't get it!"

She leaned back in her seat and sighed. "I need a drink."

Charisse took the bottle that had been brought to them with their 1st course, and poured Ai a drink. Seemed like the waiter had forgotten to do that in his confusion.

"We could switch off? Maybe." She shrugged, then distracted herself with her food.

The distraction was necessary. She was absurdly happy right now, and felt like running an entire marathon or jumping to the top of Beacon's highest spire. Something athletic to spend all this new found energy on.

Fair

"Ah the fun house. Kinda fun, but also kind of odd. They use smoke, mirrors, and people with illusion based semblances to make you see things. Usually pleasant things!" He says with a smile as he leads her to one, a rather large one compared to the others.

Ai took her glass and downed the entire thing in one go.

"If we do then I'm going first, at least for now," she said.

After just one glass, Ai was already feeling slightly buzzed.

"Waiter! Get your ass over here and serve that salad. I want my dessert before the end of the era."

Wait, what did she mean by that.

Charisse took a sip of her own drink, then swished it around confused. What was this, colored water? They used to serve this kinda stuff to the tiniest of babies back in Mistral.

Back in Mistral, especially in the northern parts, you could get 37.5 % proof stuff in boxes with a straw. This was nothing. Well, at least it tasted alright. She did like grape juice.

The waiter rushed over with the salads, then went back for the entree, which was done by this point.

Ai drank another half glass of wine before making the sensible decision not to drink anymore.

"I'm bored," she said, quite plainly.

After finishing her salad, Ai made the decision to drink the rest of the glass — mostly out of nerves, more than anything. She might screw this up somehow. She wanted dessert pretty soon.

"Bored huh? You wanna... you wanna go hunt something after this?" Charisse said, as their entrees were put in front of them. "Hunting Grimm is always fun."

She ate her food slowly, rather than tearing into it at her usual speed. The Beacon forests would probably have minimal guards today, since it was a holiday. Plus, its not like Beacon condoned hunting, it was just pretty dangerous to do unaccompanied.

"I'm not sure that I'm in the mood for it. We can still try, though," said Ai. Her words, taken out of context, could be mistaken for something more risqué.

Ai was done with her entree not too shortly after. She was anticipating the arrival of her dessert, because it was crucial to the next phase in her plan.

Onto the next step then.

After a few minutes, the dessert was brought forth and set in front of them. The mousse for Ai, the bread pudding for Charisse.

Ai clapped her hands together with delight as her raspberry white chocolate mousse was placed on the table before her. She dug in straight away with a spoonful to her mouth, and touched her cheek while savoring the taste.

Hold on. When had Ai moved her chair closer to Charisse?

Ai went for another spoonful, then, slowly raising the spoon, she turned away from herself and pointed it at Charisse with the intention of certain kill.

With an oddly unreadable cute smile on her face, she said, "You should try this! It's really good!"
