Manga/Anime/LN Amagi Brilliant Park (KyoAni/Kadokawa project)

The cutesy voices chosen — heck, Kawasumi Ayako as Moffle for example! — were a big surprise, as I think it was fairly common for readers to imagine them as gruff older men.

An interesting point, is how Kyo Ani's mapped out the whole park for the production, when most of the events (of book 1 that is) seem to center around the area named Sorcerer's Hill.

Moffle I definitely imagined as a man in his 30s (god cannot read his dialogue the same ever again after watching the anime...), but Tirami's voice was pretty much the only one that fit due to his appearance and verbal tic, seeing they're having only voice actresses voice them. Makaron fell somewhere in between the two of them, so I didn't mind him as much.

New week, new episode.

I think this is pretty much the point where the anime jumps off and leaves established material. Then there's the mention of the hanging garden's mythal... So yeah, things point to Kyo Ani setting things up for Latifa to go blind over the course of the show rather than being blind to begin with.

The "build a visitor base again gradually" makes sense for the anime timeline though, compared to the "OH FSK WE HAVE TWO WEEKS" in the L Ns.

Last week I would have said that a more realistic treatment is more interesting to me than some super-special plan that gets a ton of visitors at the last second, but I stopped watching this week's episode halfway through so maybe not. Apparently we're teaching them valuable business lessons like "don't punch your customers" and "advertise".

Oh god, is this gonna be Black Butler all over again!!?!? I HATE it when an anime company adapts something only to be faithful to the source material for one of the first few episodes!!

We need to merge the threads or make one the LN the other the anime...

Also Kanye actually going "Every outfit I wear is a 10 on me"

His name is NOT a mistake.

Uh, you realize that this is the universal thread. The OTHER thread is for the guys who don't want to be spoiled.

And yeah, differences. Most of what Kanye was doing was this build-up for a massive surge of people at literally the last moment, rather than the gradual increase of customer base that the anime is doing.

So something happened to Latifa this episode. Since Kyo Ani's changing things up, think this is the time for her blindness to appear?

And for those who were wondering, yeah, the swimsuit advert was in book 1, however given even the reader knew at that point that Latifa was blind, it made Kanye seem like a douche.

Well, given the expansion in the anime, we definitely won't be seeing Kanye burn down a J-League stadium next week.

Okay, that didn't work for some reason.

Some notes here:

• It's the dragon! It's a book 2 thing, by the way.
• Isuzu's worries don't resonate AS much, as they skipped out on the details of her past from when Kanye scanned her the first time.
• And yeah, the Maple Landers clearly DON'T trust Kanye, but they're stuck with him. They're still keeping important stuff from him.
• Also, the accountant... Is USHER?!?

That said, things are going to be weird about some things for anime-only watchers, as they only get focused on AFTER book 1. Like Latifa being clueless at some things, despite them being in the park apparently for a while.

... still no mention of Latifa going blind. Hmmmm...

This felt like comedy relief from the past dramatic episodes. But as a result, it felt out of place too.

Take note, Gatoh said that Amagi Brilliant Park was planned as a series of mostly unrelated vignettes following the park employee's everyday work (hence why the three part-timers are sorely missed, given their outsider's viewpoints to the park). Heck, it's the reason why, after the first book, the plot's been mostly put on the side. He promised to come back to it in book 6 however...

I'm glad I was proved wrong! Turns out that the part-timers are in, as they showed up in episode 6. And yes, the "AV" joke was preserved in all its ridiculous glory. XD

that entire bit about the AV was milked far all it was worth it, but it was indeed hilarious.

Since most of the relevant episodes are done... Differences!

• The swimming pool episode with the pirates wasn't there.
• The episode with the plumbing wasn't there either.
• The recruitment episode was also different in the LN. Kanye refused to employ Shiina because child labor is illegal. He mistook her as a primary schooler and she ran away crying. She was only employed after Isuzu pointed out that she is actually a high schooler from their school. After she was employed, Shiina tries to become the "new" Moffle because the Moffle she knew when she was a kid was kind, whereas the one 'currently' is a bit of a punk. She expected the current Moffle to be a cranky middle aged man in Moffle's costume. At one point, Moffle told her to replace him temporarily as Moffle with a costume, but Shiina wanted to have the one Moffle's supposedly wearing instead (uh oh). When he heard that, Moffle put Shiina's hand into his mouth to show that he isn't wearing a costume. She was shocked to learn that not only are the mascots real, but Moffle really DOES have the personality of a cranky middle-aged... siscon. She also thought the whole putting her hand into his mouth thing was a form of sexual harassment.
• The 30 yen discount campaign was also a spectacular success in the LN. Combined with advertisements, they managed to get an entry of two thousand people per day.

Moffle's not a siscon, he's basically Snape, if Harry had looked like Lilly instead of James.

That's... one way of putting it.

Interesting to note that Maple Land seems to be pretty lighthanded with regards to its hiring considerations — Tiramie for example has a criminal record, and is a known drug addict.

For what, rape?

Burning down his school to hide the fact that he was growing pot on the premises, aforementioned drug addiction, rapping about killing police officers...

.... "relevant episodes"!?!?

"Equivalent episodes to chapter." That clear enough?

... that implies that theeeeeee last 5 episodes will not follow the chapters! That is NOT a comfortable message.

So as to not clutter the anime-only thread, Macaron's other form◊ (different from the one he gets from wearing a necklace). Also, in the same pic, the fairies with the pointed ears that never got carried over to the anime.

Hilariously, when he's like this, he matches closely to what Eiko looks for in a guy. Hmm.

As for his daughter◊.... I don't see the resemblance. XD

And we're at the crunch time, folks. I have to say, the way things were set up in the anime makes MORE sense due to the extended timeline.

For those not familiar with how it went in the LN:

• Rather than fish around for contracts, it seems that the park had a pre-existing contract with the J League, but everyone just forgot about it as it was before the current generation of park employees.
• The stipulation of course, is that they host games for a specific J League team if their home stadium was otherwise unavailable. However the problem was said home stadium was okay...
• ... Which leads to Kanye infiltrating the home stadium to do some arson.
• Moffle finds out, and in the end, they didn't set the stadium on fire. However, they still managed to cause an electrical fire in one of the machine rooms by accident.
• Said fire is still enough for the stadium management to temporarily close the stadium down for maintenance and investigation.
• As a result Amaburi's able to get the crowds it needs due to people watching the soccer games. But not quite...
• ... As there's still also the situation with the missing people. Lets see how the anime handles it. The LN does it via having some of the employees resign, then buy tickets, to make up for the shortfall.
