Awwww, that's a really sweet tribute! :)

[up] And unexpected as well. Color me intrigued!

(Context because of pagetopping: DC is doing a tribute to Stan Lee's 100th birthday featuring the DC Universe that he himself came up with once upon a time.)

Given that Geoff Johns is returning to the JSA, I really hope he can find a way to continue some dangling plot threads from Doomsday Clock, either there or elsewhere. (Warning: I am about to praise Doomsday Clock, a story I am very fond of, and I know that some people will find that offensive given its polarizing nature). I really, really want to see a direct follow-up to Firestorm's Doomsday Clock plot thread, which I found to be a really gripping reinvention of the character. How does Ronnie deal with Martin Stein's CIA background and his own involvement in a deadly tragedy in Moscow? What is the dynamic between him and Stein like now? How are the Global Guardians doing now? The JSA helped get them going again, but all we've seen of them since is that (quite good) Vixen done-in-one Geoffrey Thorne wrote. Their existence is supposed to ease international tensions. How successful are they at that goal? Does the superhero community make any effort to actively track the US government's manipulations of them? Is there any lingering effect of the fact that Black Adam launched a serious attack on America shortly before joining the Justice League?

By the way, it turns out the upcoming JSA book is going to be only 12 issues long. Hopefully they'll do a lot with that space.

With Johns return presumably they'll up on those threads hopefully.

So the JSA series is a maxiseries.

Well better than nothing, the JSA are back after all. Here's to their grand return.

Feels like DC is just kind of settling on 12-issue series for third- or lower-string titles, and it's probably a good idea. It makes a good sized trade that's easy to keep selling in the future, they can always do another one, and it can lead to a tighter narrative than hedging bets on continuing stories past that point.

Okay so some new Dark Crisis Young Justice bullshit, and Tim is trivializing his relationship with Cass to focus entirely on Con.

There has been a bizarre case of overt misogyny ever since Tim came out as bi because Fitzmartin has been basically having Tim horribly mistreat all the women in his life.

She has Tim dump Step out of the blue and ghost her for like a year and now all this stuff with Cass.

Its like an actual yaoi fangirl is writing the book and she's enacting character derailment on all the women so she can focus entirely on the BL stuff.

Fitzmartin's second story after her three parter revealing Tim to be queer was Tim coming out to Stephanie. Tim "ghosted" her for a year because apparently no other writers cared about Tim/Steph as a couple.

And this complaint about Tim trivializing his relationship with Cass to focus entirely on Con strikes me as a unfair complaint given that Tim is having a conversation with Conner about how he felt following both Conner's death and resurrection.

How is Tim talking about a completely different thing with Conner him trivializing his relationship with Cassie?

Mode note: personal slight removed

But yes, Tim brings up how Conner's death really messed him up. Which it did, he was straight up trying to clone his dead friend, and he modified his costume to look more like him. It was a big deal in Tim's life for a while.

[up][up] She's the one who suddenly broke up the relationship with Steph without much of a reason. She's the one who had Tim act like a asshole and ignoring her.

And when Step actually appeared again she was then used to prop up the relationship with Bernard in the most inorganic way with the panel of Steph hugging Bernard being infamous.

With Cass its not as bad I guess but there's an undercurrent of demeaning her and her relationship with Tim just to prop up a potential Tim/Con pairing.

The thing is the whole Tim and Conner drama is eyerolling and forced as they already dealt with the issues of Conner's death and kissing Cassie back in Adventure Comics with no issues and resolved everything smoothly so bringing it back up and pretending they didn't talk and fully express how they feel and making a big deal around with hostility on both ends is annoying. I mean this issue makes it clear Fitzmartin is doing it to push for a potential Timkon. I mean Tim's rant was basically a tumblr post on all the reasons Tim loved Conner or something and having a bunch of character derailment on Kon's end as some whiny ego centric person who doesn't trust his friends on how much they cared for him and Tim acting like he never properly dealt with Kon's loss or expressed how he felt (again he already did) and retcons be used to set it up along with doing it in the middle of a fight for a few pages which messed up the flow, made it feel like some kind of forced PSA. It's also tumblr esque how in the same series that is exploring Tim/Kon while Tim is in a relationship, Timsteph was being bashed and not to mention Tim is showing more thought and reflection/looking back on potential feelings for Conner than he did with Steph in this series and in the Pride special where all we got as a vague overview of his relationship with Steph.

Steph's treatment throughout the whole thing was bad as their talk in the Pride special was rushed as after 1 convo everything is resolved before she was used to shill Bernard (after Tim introduced her to Bernard without even asking/warning her after they just reconnected after he dumped and ghosted her for a while which is huge dick move) and we still don't even know why Tim broke up with her as being bi is weak excuse that reeks into the whole bi people must date the same gender to be truly bi or why he couldn't feel like he could talk to her as they have been through much more altering things such as Steph having another man's child at 15..........

Not to mention Dark Crisis YJ implying that people who prefer Timsteph are homophobic and that Steph is shallow and only likes Tim for his costume which Tim didn't even defend her from such a slander along with Tim bluntly rejecting the notion of getting back with her without a second thought yet showing more thought and introspectiong to being Batman which is one of his worst fears........

As for Tim and Cassie they are only bringing up their friendship for the sake of a potential Timkon thing which is just undermining/downplaying a lot of other core features of it and using Cassie as a prop.

Steph's been the lead of an ongoing since February, so six issues came out after Timm broke up with her and before Tim came out to her, and a seventh came out on the same day. She didn't disappear in the interim - literally any of them could have addressed the Tim/Steph break up from her perspective.

And what "undercurrent"? Now that Tim's queer he can't talk to other men without demeaning his relationships with women? There's absolutely nothing to do with his relationship with Cassie here. It's a conversation between Tim and Conner about Tim and Conner!

And yet they didn't, Steph was simply used to prop up an underdeveloped relationship in the most inorganic way possible.

[up] Well that is how its written. Tim's female relationships are clearly treated as unimportant which doesn't help with the general bad writing Cassie is going through in YJ. Such as completely ignoring her tenure as team leader to falsely attribute it to Con as a way of making a statement that all she is is defined by men.

Its a horrid mess.

I recently finished Warren Ellis' Stormwatch. Now, yes, Ellis himself is a scumbag, but I was interested in the more "classical" Wildstorm stuff given Morrison and PKJ's work with the Authority and the upcoming Waller vs. Wildstorm Black Label stories. All in all, there's a lot here that reminds both of the original Authority run (Jenny Sparks' origins issue and the "Change or Die" storyline most notably) and Justice League unlimited show (orbital satellite base for an international superhero group with a combative relationship with the American governmentnote ). If nothing else I think it's endeared me to some of the non-Authority Wildsotrmers, like Jackson King and Fuji.

Just read the latest issue of Young Justice.

A lot of the weird continuity messups are revealed to be on purpose, and the main villain is revealed to be Mxyzptlk's son, Mickey. I think thats a callback to that time Young Justice caused Mxy's origin by showing him three stooges. Also, there's a weird bit where they show the YJ rogues gallery and Empress, a literal member of the team is there. Weird choice.

Outside of that, a lot of it is very similar to the last, with the same shipping focus.

Plus some issues of Captain Atom: Armageddon.

Shame a lot of the non-Authority stuff isn't being reprinted/collected.

She was around in the Silver Age too, but I don't think they were married cause she kept trying to get Jimmy to marry her—that's how we got Jimmy as the Human Porcupine.

Later stories had her trying to make Myx marry her but he blew her off cause it'd supposedly interfere with his mischief-making with Superman.

Mxy was married, to Miss Bgbznz, and had a son with her named Kytszbtn. She tricked him into marrying her by making herself appear beautiful, and then after the marriage revealed her true form to Mxy (he wasn't happy)—she was often referred to as his ex-wife, though in Mxy's last pre-Byrne appearance in DC Comics Presents # 97, she and Miss Gzptslnz (who was most often depicted as Mxy's girlfriend throughout the Silver Age) have Mxy up in court for bigamy. For the record, DC Comics Presents # 97, featuring "Superman and the Phantom Zone Villains: The Final Chapter" by Steve Gerber and Rick Veitch, was published in May of 1986 and was the last appearance of the pre-Byrne Superman and his world.

Just the entire reception to YJ Dark Crisis is so funny man. Like Dark Crisis itself is rather mixed but JY is a huge disaster. [lol]

I gotta agree they really should stop making supervillains out of toxic fanboys.

We already have Superboy Prime for that anyway. tongue
