Question: Has DC ever tried to explain or tell us what the First World and Second World before the Third and Fourth are, or is it purely a Cryptic Background Reference?
This is all we know of what was before the Fourth World: "There came a time when the Old Gods died! The brave died with the cunning! The noble perished, locked in battle with the unleashed evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust! The final moment came with the fatal release of the indescribable power — which tore the home of the Old Gods asunder — split it in great halves — and filled the universe with the blinding death-flash of its destruction! In the end there were two giant molten bodies, spinning slow and barren — clean of all that had gone before — adrift in the fading sounds of cosmic thunder... Silence closed upon what had happened — a long, deep silence — wrapped in massive darkness... it was this way for an age... THEN—THERE WAS NEW LIGHT!"

[up]At the very least the Third World is supposed to be based off the Norse Gods, specifically from Kirby's Thor run at Marvel. I think they were supposed to be the actual Marvel Asgardians back when Kirby was still working there before he took it to DC. Asgard was going to have Raganarok and get blown the hell up and the Fourth World would take its' place. Or at least that's what I've heard.

Of course Heroes in Crisis would bring that back. Of course it would.

Now, now, we don't actually know what Kimiyo is talking about in that panel. For all we know, she's referring to that time Arthur posted a video of himself doing the Harlem Shake.tongue

Can't we ask writers for an essay on controversial topics before they are allowed to write a story about them?

Wake me up at your own risk.

[up][up][up] I mean, they don't mention who or what he did, so she might just be referring to the fact that Dr. Light is a villain (which he is now, I believe, after coming back to life — long story, he exploded) and not anything else.

But that does bring up something weird with HIC — it seemingly thinks everything is still in continuity, even acknowledging things that shouldn't be.

See, this is why I think Tom King is best when he operates in that Mister Miracle style story — where the nebulous continuity works to its advantage, where it's not supposed to be clear and the audience isn't questioning "Huh?"

But then again, I don't think HIC really had any clear editorial oversight or else they would have fixed the continuity issues.

Although the best part of the book was probably Red Tornado asking himself if he should build his own family and thinking that he shouldn't have any problems with that.

[up] That's a good idea. "Before you right this story about rape, I want a twenty-page essay about the impact of sexual assault on women and men and the trauma they go through afterwards."

Tornado building himself a family has been a disastrous idea for a while.

HIC pretty much seems to treat everything as in continuity

which makes this panel with Dove really head scratching

Dawn's just being pissy

when she's got about mountain of other things to be traumatized by

Not limited too

Being Tortured

Raped while conscious of it

in waking Coma while Pregnant

Said child was soulless and turned into someone elses Kid

Trying to Reconnect to Little Sister

Failing to Protect little sister and thus failing her parents

and the Guy who killed said little sister is her rapist and partner even if it sorta kinda wasn't his fault

Then Hank's problem is he's stuck in a predestination paradox to become Extant and ruin the one girl who has shown him unconditional love entire life

though then again all they can do is have Kyle speak spanish

This is part of why I read more Marvel than DC because at least Marvel doesn't have a reboot every five minutes.

It's never mentioned in Green Lantern, but Amon Sur and Soranik Natu are technically cousins, and Sinestro is Amon's uncle by marriage/Abin Sur is Soranik's biological uncle. Makes me wonder how Sinestro must feel about Amon being his best friend's son and having any remote relationship to him

Wally West's new comic is here: Flash Forward, written by Scott Lobdell, with art by Brett Booth.

His name is Wally West—and he was the Fastest Man Alive. That is, until the Multiverse was rewritten without him or his family in it. Wally returned and tried to make it work, but the damage was done. Spinning out of the events of HEROES IN CRISIS, follow the man who called himself Flash on an adventure to find redemption in a cosmos that has fought so hard to destroy him.
On the one hand, that synopsis sounds very intriguing. On the other hand: fucking Scott Lobdell? That's who DC got to write Wally? The guy who messed up Starfire? The guy who sexually harassed another comics creator on stage? Jesus Christ, DC, get it together.

Also, the name of the comic is stupid.

uh oh

Leviathan is the next big DC villain and his true identity will shake the DC verse to its core... as long as they don't screw the pooch

cause Henry Hall is sick of being the go to Villain stunt double.

Gotham City Monsters by Steve Orlando and Amancay Nahuelpan. Starring Frankenstein, Killer Croc, Lady Clayface, Orca, and I Vampire.

I'm not sure why they didn't call it Creature Commandos, but I'm in.

It probably helps that Lobdell apologized and there hasn't been any other reports of him sexually harassing people, but the first time should have been enough to get him fired.
