So when is the new Expedition starting?
They didn't say.
Also, interesting name for the new robot race. "Autophage", something that eats itself.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Oh, the Voyagers expedition started two days ago. It's live until the 27th of October, so there's plenty of time.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I got really lucky with mine; found a derelict freighter in the starter system that gave me a big jump in my income, as well as an a class sentinel rifle that makes mining materials a breeze from one of the starter planets
I don't understand the point of buying Starfield when this game exists.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Simple.
Do you prefer more FPS combat, RPG elements, and a decent story? Play Starfield. Do you prefer seamless interplanetary exploration, building outposts, mining for materials, and long stretches of quiet, sometimes meditative, travel? Play No Man's Sky.
No Man's Sky ground combat sucks, minimal choice of weapons, defensive options and enemy variety. Honestly its the games biggest weakness. From what I have seen Starfield ground combat looks great, a better Fallout 4 combat system.
Base building looks better than No Man's Sky's from what little I have seen too.
Yeah, there's a reason I didn't mention the combat in No Man's Sky as a plus. Even the space dogfighting kinda sucks compared to other games in the genre.
People were wondering what Hello Games was up to, and now we have an answer: their new fantasy based procedural game, Light No Fire.
Their new game is obviously using the same engine utilized by No Man's Sky, and even some of the symbolism seems familiar. Perhaps this "game" is yet another part of the computer that's simulating the world created by the Atlas AI?
Here is the celebration video as well as the teaser for the new update. Seems like space stations are getting a big overhaul at long last!
All I want in this new game is a damned map. Every single time I try to get back into No Man's Sky, that's what drives me off.
That's basically impossible past the boundaries of any landmarks or outposts you established due to how everything is randomly generated from planet to planet.
Honestly (as my avatar might imply) I'm a much bigger fan of fantasy than I am of sci-fi, so while I've spent a lot of time in NMS I'll probably jump into this one if it's good when it releases.
There is a bit of trepidation still from Sean Murray using the word Ambition and fear of history repeating, but I feel like he's learned his lesson enough so it won't be like NMS 1.0... surely.
You're not alone in being a tad bit cautious this time.
For one, I noticed almost everything shown in the game is just a feature from No Man's Sky reskinned for a fantasy setting, with the creature mounts and their stiff aerial takeoffs being the most obvious. No signs of large, complex settlements, active settlers, roadways or dungeons either, which tells me they're still trying to figure that bit out.
I'll wait until the reviews come in before buying it.
I dont think we'll have to worry about reviews or launch dates any time soon; I dont remember there being a release date so its probably still a long ways off.
Totally slipped my Radar with the hubub from yesterday: Expedition reruns have begun!
Since I only started playing this year, I kind of need to do all of these besides the latest one
The Cartographer redux has begun. This one is particularly cool because not only does it have the covetted golden starship reward, but you get a free exotic ship as your starter!
the Omega update is out for PC and certain platforms. There isnt a full patch notes list yet but there is a new expedition, cosmetics, and claimable Pirate Frigates!
They've released the proper trailer now:
And here are the full patch notes.
The Omega Expedition is free to play until Monday. So if you want to check out the game, or show it off to some friends... now's the time!

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I've restarted playing this game from zero, and I think I just found my favorite planet ever. Paradise planet, no significant Sentinels, no climate effects, right next to the space station, and more importantly, there are a ton of buildings on it. The first place I landed on at random was right next to a comm tower...with an archive in sight...and then there was just one discovery after another just using the scanner - meaning the buildings are less than 500 meters away from each other. Without even using a scanner or anything, I found another two comm towers, one research silo, one locked research station, and three transmission towers that sent me towards a cargo crash and a ship crash (the third one even got wasted because I hadn't investigated the signals yet).
Oh, and the ship crash was a S-Tier Shuttle.
Sounds to me that you may want to make that planet a Wonder so you can display it.
I'll wait until I built a proper base on it (and until I've seen it wasn't an absurd string of luck).
Also the update is a 9GB download.
