Heroes of the Storm - Blizzard MOBA

So apparently Blizzard decided it would be a good idea to make this game more like LOL and implemented their own version of runes?

Suddenly, I'm very concerned...

You're not the only one. I'm not convinced the artifacts are that powerful, but their sheer existence and substantial cost are worrisome.

I've read from one source that even if they don't appear powerful, they can have a huge impact on the game if given to the right characters.

Dramatic week in Heroes: they implemented that meta-game artifact system last week and it's gone this week.

I shed no tears for it. It wasn't interesting, it was just a gold sink, maybe it could work if it gave a special ability you could cast in the match rather than boring passive +10% damage crap.

Oh the people screaming they want a refund now...

Woot! I'm so glad they axed it. Now I'm back to hoping I can get an invite key and that the game's worth jumping over to from Lo L.

I've been playing League Of Legends for a few months and I'm pretty excited about this game, assuming it doesn't get cancelled. I know a lot of MOBA players are pre-emptively criticizing this for being casual-focused and colorful, but I consider those two to be positives.

Oh, hey there Nova being on rotation.

Turns out, I really enjoy playing Nova too. May be the first thing I spend my gold on (the chance to play her brought me back into it after about a month and a half off).

Been playing nothing but LiLi for a while. I'm terrible with her but she's also the character I'm least-terrible with. Rumor has it if you keep playing a character you develop "skill" with it. I wouldn't know, I've never experienced that before. But constant-LiLi I go.

I've had two half-completed daily quests for about two weeks now—play a Diablo character and an assassin. I attempted to do both a while back and learned that the game is too Serious Business to play characters you aren't an Elite Master of. It's proving to be an interesting bit of testing—in this time the one daily quest I do complete has been exclusively "win a game", "play support", and "play two games". I'm wondering if the game avoids giving you three dailies you might be unable to complete for odd reasons. I haven't gotten a "play a Starcraft hero" or "play a warrior" since I went LiLi-only.

Not like I'm doing anything with the gold anyway.

I got an invite, finally. It is....an ok game. It is definitely faster than Lo L matches which is greatly appreciated though.

So, technical alpha is entering its final phase. One last planned account wipe.

All heroes are free to play for now. Not that I recommend just playing something because you can since the game is deathly serious already.

So does that mean that the game is likely to open for anyone to play, not just by invite, in the relatively near future?

Generally speaking the final Reset is generally is the thing they do before opening the beta

They keep saying "final phase of alpha" is coming as opposed to "alpha is ending, beta beginning". So I'm not sure.

Abathur is truly interesting to play. There oughta be a way where he can be a bit more vulnerable early game, IMHO, but otherwise, his concept is truly unique.

There are two things to encourage him to expose himself: his locusts and hives both have a finite range, though the hives can be talented to be map-wide. Abathur can play the entire game in the Nexus well, but if he does so he's not playing effectively.

yeah which is why I specified early game. Early game, he can sit behind a gate and he won't be harmed at all. Later in the game when a lane is being pushe and stuff he is extremely vulnerable, what, with being outside of a gate, completely vulnerable and stuff.

Just on early game, wish there was some reason for him to be outside.

Heroes returns after a week. Anub'arak and Azmodan are both in. Supposedly, there will be no wipes past this point and everything is permanent.

No wipes planned, anyway. If something unintended and massive breaks the game, it may happen.

(It's pretty unlikely to happen!)

Alright, so all we need at this point is for the game to open up to anyone.

Dang it, they introduce new ways to possibly get entry, and the one I really have any control over increasing my chances with involves Facebook, which I quit well over a year ago.

Preliminary news from the Blizzcon opening ceremony:

• Closed beta on January 13th.
• New heroes: Jaina, the Lost Vikings, Thrall.
• New battlegrounds: Sky Temple and Tomb of the Spider Queen.
• Ranked play.

Ah, so it's four universes now.

...I'm still waiting to actually play this game, just to let you know.

Closed beta is basically a Beta version of how getting to play works right now, correct?
