Is this about Selkies?
"Secret of the Kells" was very nice to look at (and fun) but I didn't find the story too memorable; I hope that doesn't happen here too.
I'm pretty sure selkies play a big role in the movie since two of the major characters are selkies themselves.
Selkies! And they're adorable! Sweet!
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. From the sounds of plot summaries, it's also about magic going away in late-80s era Ireland and how the Selkie characters are connected to that magical creature community in decline.
Huh, didn't think of it like that before. Makes you wonder how it's going to end, doesn't it?

I've been following the director's blog for this film for quite a while now. The updates aren't terribly consistent, but I've seen some cool stuff on there. I think this film was slated for a 2014 release, but I read a tidbit somewhere about it being pushed back to 2015. That would be a shame, as I am really stoked about this film.
Wow, I've been following the blog myself too. And I heard about the 2015 postponing as well, albeit from someone on deviantArt who talked to Tomm Moore. But according to Tomm Moore's twitter page, he actually said in a response tweet that while he wasn't sure of the release date, it looked like it would be done by June of next year. In fact, here's the tweet:
@gingerbread_t hi there we are still working hard - not sure of the release date but looks like we will finish up in June next year
His tweet, not mine. Anyway, I'm kind of peeved that we're not getting any previews or anything, not even the WIP footage he showed in Annecy. In fact, I thought we would get something in NYCC 2013 this year, but apparently not.
Ah, Deviantart, that was it. I knew I read it on some website that wasn't about movie news. It's encouraging that Moore himself predicts the film will be finished by June, but films don't always get released immediately after they're finished. It might have to do a festival circuit, or something like that, before coming to our shores.
I have been known to watch chopped-up movies on Youtube, but torrenting is something I don't do. I just don't. I don't think anyone will need to for this movie, either. I'm confident that it will get a legitimate release, even if it takes a long time. G Kids loved The Secret of Kells so much that they bought it outright when they were still a minor distributor; I am hereby guessing that they have faith in Song of the Sea, and many more people know the name G Kids now than four years ago.
You know what I thought would be awesome? Cartoon Network showing The Secret of Kells next year as a part of celebrating St. Patrick's Day or something and then they would have a sneak preview of Song of the Sea like after the movie or somewhere in between. Wouldn't that be awesome for Cartoon Network to do?
That would be pretty cool; why not e-mail the distributors and ask if they're interested in doing something like that?
Whoa, you can do that? Where? In that little space where they let you leave comments? I don't know. Would they even notice it?

I don't know about a comment box, but G Kids has all of their contact info on their website. I've even called them before (to ask whether Mia and the Migoo would ever be coming to a theater in my area, but it didn't).
Completely forgot about it. Yes, I do want to see it.
My angry rant blog!Wait, do we even know if G Kids is distributing Song of the Sea? I'm not saying I'm against it, it's just that we're aren't getting a lot of updates on who's distributing the movie in the USA.
No, that's entirely my assumption. But it's an educated guess. The Secret of Kells is the feature film that really put the company and their festival on the map, so I think it logically follows that the company would want to distribute a film from the same director and studio that got them national attention (like Disney has stuck with the Studio Ghibli films and Dreamworks used to be loyal to Aardman). Again, these are only my suppositions. I could be all wrong.
Man, it would be really relieving to get something new that will help us endure the wait.

My Irish Mythology Proff is going to flip out over this.
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersFlip out in a good way or a bad way?
So apparently we're going to cry seeing this movie. How sad do you guys think this will turn out? Schindler's List sad or is that going too far? Maybe as sad as a (good) Don Bluth movie gets?

Seal clubbing sad? It had better not be, but that's the first thing that comes to mind given they're selkies.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I was thinking more like Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence and never come back kind of sad. This could also intertwine with Parental Abandonment, if you catch my drift. By the way, is Irish mythology along the lines of paranormal or supernatural?
What exactly is the difference?

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
Song of the Sea
For the uninitiated, it's the next film from Tomm Moore and Cartoon Saloon, the guy and studio who brought us The Secret Of Kells.
Here's the conceptual trailer from 2009:
Without more ado, Discuss.
